Rating: Summary: A great resume' of King's work. Review: "Differnt Seasons" was in my opinion a very good example of King at some of his best work. The Body was a great tale of how the youth of today has just as many troubles--if not worse--than the older generations. However, my favorite story would indeffintly be "The Breathing Method" . I actually could picture actors (George Cloony and Kevin Spacey for example) , making a film of the story. It was horrifying and enjoyable. "Rita Hayworth & Shawshank Redemption" was also enjoyable. Not one of my favorites... I got about 1/4 of a way through "Art Pupil" and then lost intrest. This is probably what kept the novel from the 5-star mark, as you see with some of my other King reviews. Overall, this is a terrific novel by King, and I recommend it without a doubt.
Rating: Summary: This book blew me away Review: I've just started reading Stephen King again and I'm glad I started with _Different Seasons_. Wow, is this book something! Hail to the King indeed! "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" is beautiful and so well-written. "The Body" is a terrific coming-of-age tale. But "Apt Pupil" was truly breathtaking. The ideas and imagery from that story will stay with me for a long, long time. I think it is King's best novella by far. This story alone is worth the price of admission. "Breathing Lessons" was all right to finish, although it didn't make as great an impact as the others. _Different Seasons_ is definitely a keeper.
Rating: Summary: Be surprised ,very surprised!! Review: Horror is found everywhere so don't over look it because evil wouldn't over look you. I have to say that this is the best book ever wroten by the master of horror Stephen King.and have a nice day. by Diamonded Reiko Email me at ReikoJarek/Yahoo
Rating: Summary: This books about how you find terror in many different ways. Review: This book is the best out every Stephen King book that I read. The story "The Body" is the best work that Stephen King ever made. 1999 Reiko Jarek Ray Nighttt
Rating: Summary: Good Stories Review: 1). Rita Hayworth & Shawshank Redemption: I would have liked this one better if I would have read it before I saw the movie which is great. 2). Apt Pupil: In my opinion I thought that Apt Pupil was the best story in Different Seasons. I don't know why mostly everyone else didn't like it. I liked the characters of Todd Bowden and Dussander. Good ending. 3) The Body: Kind of a different story foe King (but then again this whole book was different from regular King). I liked Chris Chambers and Teddy. I didn't like what happened to them at the end. 4). The Breathing Method: Starts off slow but then it spectacular. Truly a gruesome ending that I didn't see coming. Overall I enjoyed Different Seasons. This novel proves that King can write stuff other than horror. I even liked how he wrote in an Afterword to tell us how he came to writing the novel. A good change for him. I liked all the stories.
Rating: Summary: Two brilliant stories, two o.k. stories Review: The first story is Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption, which resulted in the film entitled Shawshank Redemption. This is an excellent short story. Apt Pupil is second in line, and isn't a patch on the previous one. Simply, it is too long. The body is the best, and was made in to a film called Stand By Me. Excellent. The last one is The Breathing Method about a strange club and old men who tell stories. Top notch, but not as good as The Stand Complete & Un-cut Edition, £8.99 at all good book retailers.
Rating: Summary: What do you know? Even good in Spanish!!! Review: I am in a spanish-speaking country currently, and happened to pick this title up at the nearest outraegeously overpriced book store. Too bad I didn't buy from you guys, huh. Anyway, although the edition I bought was in spanish (meaning I did miss out on reading king's own crucial words), I loved it. And I have to admit it lives up to the King reputation; or legacy, if you may.
Rating: Summary: Some of the greatest stories of my adolescence! Review: I read this book not knowing that the book included the story, "The Body", which growing up was one of my favorite movies, "Stand By Me". I had bought it to read "The Shawshank Redemption", and was completely taken in by all four of the stories. One of the greatest books i've read in my life. A truly great find.
Rating: Summary: Apt Pupil was "OK", the others were "da bomb"! Review: As a reader of most of King's work, I can say that this collection rates in the top 20 percentile of his work. I found Apt Pupil to have some flaws in character motivation, and other flaws. Shawshank might be King's best work, and the Body and Breathing Method were flawless and fast-paced. This is a good book for anyone, even if they don't read King.
Rating: Summary: what the? Review: I really didn't care for this book overall. I will say that "...Shawshank Redemption" is a very tight and well-written story, but it's really the only one which kept my attention. The first half of "Apt Pupil" is both engaging and disturbing (in a good way), but it soon drifts into an out-of-control rambling mess and loses its novelty. The final two didn't make much of an impression, and overall, the 4 stories really don't work very well under the same cover. Check it out from the library, read the first story, and turn it back in.
