Summary: very cool
Review: This book was one of Anne Rice's best in the series, and is full of interesting settings and story lines. It never lets up in suspense, and is truly a great novel.

Summary: She is a Queen, but I am a human monster.
Review: Anne Rice is a genius and this volume of her Vampire Chronicles is by far the best example of her talent. What is best with her is the way she knows how to travel in time to show the grandiose evolution of humanity from barbarism and superstition to some kind of improving civilization. But she knows better than any one else how to mix the myths from the oldest periods of human history with the basic myths of our modern world, especially Jewish and Christian myths. She is thus able to rewrite the big tales of our imagination and to give them a new life. Here the tale of the vampire is transformed into a social saga both of human talent and of vampiristic horror. And those vampires become lovable and beautiful, cultured and refined. They are the acme of human life, be it mainly because they are death all through and over. Death is the acme of life. And life is the epitome of death. So we are bound to fall in love with Lestat de Lioncourt who was born in Auvergne in France et reborn in Paris. But now he is the new inspiration of the next century somewhere between San Francisco and New Orleans. Anne Rice is so talented that we can feel Bourbon Street and Rue Royale living under our eyes, even if we haven't seen these streets or the French Market or the Café du Monde. They are there in those pages, alive and thriving with energy and they are glaringly beautiful in the night and peopled with the most fantastic beings, even if some consider them as monsters. We would really like to meet those monsters and have an Interview with the Vampire, just for the kicks of feeling their sharp teeth on our sensitive necks. If you haven't yet read these Vampire Chronicles, you are just one or two decades late on the twenty-first century. So hurry up and catch up on your tardiness. Especially because there must be eight or nine books in the waiting. Dr Jacques COULARDEA U, Universities of Paris IX and II.

Summary: Interesting book, a bit over-long
Review: In my opinion, the end of the book, where Lestat goes to the Talamasca house is one of the best parts of the entire book. There should have been more of Lestat having fun, instead of being over-dramatic and whining, like most of Anne's characters do most of the time. The book could have been better because it was quite a bit over-blown, which made it very boring at many points. The book isn't really realistic and many sequences in the book, though inspiring and gripping sound ridiculous, like the entire story of the twins. The Vampire Chronicles in this book get to a point of ridiculousness and dis-belief, where the vampires have no more mystery and darkness to them, instead they are just a bunch of whinners who get on your nerve. The climax of the book was quite anti climactic, because there were no surprises and no final battle. Instead the FINAL SHOWDOWN was all the vampires talking. Talking? Give me a break. What do you expect from a book writen by an old woman. It's still a good book but it could have been more enjoyable and more entertaining. And doesn't it kind of get tiresome that in the Vampire Chronicles, half the time, someone is recollecting and telling their story to someone else?

Summary: Modern Fiction at its best
Review: Who knew Queen of the Damned was coming? This novel by far is one of the fastest moving complex plots of our modern day. I picked up this book expecting just another low energy serial novel that put me to sleep at night, instead I was dropped into the world of Anne Rice's vampires. This book has so many plots that one struggles to think how all of them will wind together. With all of the plots, Rice paints a complete world and complete characters: no holes, no unanswered questions. Rice shows that she can describe a poor southern rape victim with as much emotion and vivd detail as she can describe a billionare vampire falling in a vampire's sort of love. I loved being wisked from one part of the world to another completely different one. Anne Rice encapsulates the essence of our world in her world and she includes everything we cherish and everything we rather leave out.

This multiple character drama stands in a class of its own, and I've looked and have not really found anything that has as many fast moving plots each with its own singular twists and turns. This book is a beautiful tapestry made by weaving together a perfect number of plot strings: a great read for Rice fans and anyone looking for a fast moving intellectual novel

Summary: A Satiating Read
Review: Anne Rice's classic, THE VAMPIRE LESTAT, left us ravenously thirsting for this, the 3rd Vampire Chronicle. Therein our hero, Lestat, had been snatched from his smug slumber underground by the ancient Vampire Queen, Akasha, whom he'd awakened from a sleep of thousands of years. Ah, Lestat, the unquenchable soul.....one can always count on his lustful spirit to stir up all manner of mischief!

Rescuing Lestat from Akasha's clutches, not to mention saving the delicate order of the vampire world, proves no easy endeavor to those still in existence after Akasha's sweeping annihilation of vampires throughout the world. There is a momentous gathering of vampires we know from the previous books and introduced as well are a precious few ancient and most powerful entities. THE QUEEN OF THE DAMNED is a fast-paced, dark adventure through the passages of time and space. One would needs have a fantastical flow-through from the masterful first two Chronicles - and this pumps it forth most wholeheartedly!

Summary: a lil over done?
Review: straight up, i'm not a huge anne rice fan. i read 'Interview', loved it, so i read 'Lestat', loved it too. but 'Queen of the Damned' killed me for the rest of the series. i found it very hard to follow. it's too busy, there's entirely too much going on, switching from story to story and narrator to narrator. i'm the type that starts reading a book, puts it down for a few days and then goes back to it, and i just couldn't do that with this book. i got lost. and frankly, i found her imagery way over done in this one. but if you're a huge fan of the first two books in the Vampire Chronicles or any of her other books, you may enjoy this one.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Ignore the critics
Review: Many "professional" critics like to write off Anne Rice as pure fluff without any substance, but that could not be farther from the truth. Although not as gripping as the first 2 in the series, this title is well worth delving into.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best of all the novels
Review: I think this novel is the best Anne Rice has written in the last 4 years. The plot is excellent, the characters are cool(especially khayman and Marius), and the ending does not dissapoint. I have all the V.C.(from interview to Armand)and i read Queen about 5 times. This and memnoch r the best out there.( a few people didn't like memnoch because she fools all of us but that's another review). So if you ever read a vampire chronicle let it be Queen of The Damned.

Summary: The Queen Of The Damned is a personal favorite
Review: After reading "I.W.T.V" and "T.V.L" I was ready to read the "Queen Of The Damned" This novel has a uniquness to it than the other two... It's kind of like reading a novel with a bunch of short stories in it... It goes through what happened the night of Lestat's big performance in San Francisco that wasn't mentioned in the last book... Great

I personally didn't like the Queen... I think she could've been more evil and more clever...

My favorite part of the novel is the "Legend Of The Twins" that was my favorite... it basically tells about how Vampires started exsisting... it's a great novel... and of course, our hero Lestat is a major part in the novel... Plus Claudia's diary is found, but I'm not saying what it says... you'll have to read it yourself! But you'll love it, trust me...

Summary: Queen of the Damned
Review: I found this book magnificent, the detail and the way Rice took the story from one character did not make my head wheel- no - it only enhanced the story, magnified it. It is really god, an I recommend that you read this, even if you are not a fan or have read her books. However, if you are planning on reading all of them, please do it in order, or else you will be left in the dark over some things. I read this one first, and I really regret it, please do not make the same mistake.
