Review: This book gave you a lot of history regarding the vampires. I loved it and it is probably one of my favorites of the vampire chronicles. It was full of suspense up until the very end! Anne is a wonderful author.

Review: This book is the third in the series and takes the stakes higher then anyone could have imagined. I loved the first two books, but I longed to see them pushed to the limits, to see how far a vampire could push his form. This is that story. Lestat is pushed to the limits and discovers how far beyond them he can progress. The story introduces some power houses in the world of vampires and even reveals their mysterious origins. This is a must have for any reader and all the dreamers out there.

Summary: Wonderful story, dreadful prose style
Review: I tend to read a book very fast in one setting, or it lays around the coffee table for 3 months. Such was the case with Q.o.t.D. HOWEVER if you can stick it out until about 3/4 of the way through you will be in for a very interesting read as this is where the story starts to come together and get VERY engrossing!!! Anne Rice's stories are a bit like Melville's MOBY DICK in that she has excellent story lines but her colorful, drawn out prose style is occasionally painful to read. On the other hand I have and will continue to read anything she comes out with so there must be some attraction there!!!

Summary: excellence on paper..
Review: Queen of the Damned was a much needed book in Anne's Vampire Cronicles. She needed a book that explained where her well created characters came from. In this novel, she did just that ..and exceptionally well, might I add. If you've read the first two cronicles I strongly suggest you continue with this one A.S.A.P. If you haven't.. well, this book is still exquisite and easy to understand. Anne Rice really puts strong detail into her characters, which I much like with her writing. She also has wonderful imagery and I fall in love with her use of words. She describes New Orleans very well and I love it when she speaks of the city because I know exactly what she's talking about.. the bars, the street corners, etc.. It's awesome. The book did have it's weaker points, as with all books, and the middle was a little on the slow side, but the end was spectacular. The end was so great, I was blown away. I can't wait to see it on film. Don't forget everyone.. "Queen of the Damned" coming to theatres October 5th 2001! GO SEE IT! ...nice work Mrs. Rice, once again...

Summary: The very best of the not- bios
Review: Now I've noticed that The Chronicals are split into two cadacories

The bios: Interveiw with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, The vampire Armand, and soon to come Marius: Blood and Gold (witch I can only assume will be a bio)

and the not-bios: Queen of the Damned, Tale of the Body Theif, Memnoch the Devil, and Merrick

and out of the latter QOD is the best! Ever wander what happened to the interveiwer? Ever cerious about what Armand did after leaving Louis and being inored by Lestat? Or what the Mother and Father were thinking in their stupor?

Well all those questions are answered, and there are enough charecters and plot turns to keep you interested for a while. What is magnifisent about this book is it is not in first person and for a large porion of of it, Lestat is completly out of the loop, and the central cause of why it's formed, it takes you into the minds of the very oldest, and the fleglings, the elegent and the rough-around-the-edges.

I have read this book three times and I never get bord, really one of the best books I've ever read!

Review: THE BEST!!! In this book, you finally get to find out where vampires started. I love that it started out in Egypt!

Lestat (my favorite of the bunch) awakens Akasha, the Queen of the Damned. She's generally ... at the guys in the world, and blames them for the problems the world has. So she takes it out on them (sounds great doesn't it! =p) Lestat ends up with some of her powers, but still the same great vampire.

There are more characters than before in this books, which makes for great reading. I couldn't put it down.

Summary: My personal favorite in the vampire chronicles
Review: I have read all the books in the vampire chronicles and currently reading into "Merrick", Anne's latest book. Of all the books in the vampire chronicles "Queen of the Damned" is my personal favorite. I got glimpses into other vampires other than the brat prince Lestat and his companion Louis. And in this book, the reader is introduced to David Talbot but I won't give away his role that he plays in the books following "Queen of the Damned" in case people reading my review haven't read "Queen of the Damned". I love going back and reading this book over again. I am eager to see the film adaptation of this book and if the storyline of this book was hacked to pieces by Hollywood, not to mention see any one miscast in the roles like Antonio Banderas as Armand in the film adaptation of "Interview with the Vampire".

In "Queen of the Damned" the readers are also introduced to other vampire characters that are mentioned in the following books; Maharet, Mael, and Pandora. I really enjoyed Anne's idea of how vampires came into existence which you really don't read in other vampire novels. I also enjoyed how the entire book was coming from one perspective like in the first two books (not as if there was anything wrong with that). My only part of this book was the inclusion of the chapter talking about Baby Jenks. That could have easily been edited out in my humble opinion. Overall enjoyable book. One of the best in the series.

Summary: great sequel
Review: I loved this book, I think that this is one of the best of the series, but I haven't had a chance to read the most recent books in the series yet. It is such a stunning sequel to The Vampire Lestat, I was totally stunned by the end and the fact that it's not all about Lestat, it's about the others too. It's not nearly as arrogant as the last two. Louis is wallowing in self-pity, and Lestat is incredibly self-centered, but we can't help loving him, this book brings in the two of them, plus all of the older vampires. It was spectacular.

Review: I have read almost all of the vampire chronicles, but this one is for sure my favorite. The way she explains the origin of vampires is like reading a bible, she just makes the existance of vampires scaryly believeble, incredible.

Review: Anne's telling of the creation of vampires is truely unique and imaginative. A must for anyone who loves mystery, suspense and fantasy. The cast of characters that Anne creates is rather large, but in the end, all the characters come together in an amazing ending. Anne Rice has truely out done herself with this chapter in the chronicles. A definate must read!
