Rating: Summary: King at his Best! Review: Desperation makes the stand look like a John Grisham novel. It was extremely entertaining from the opening seen to the closing seen. Unlike The Stand. Desperation is the kind of book that you really think about after you've finished it. It's worth the $25
Rating: Summary: WEAK! I love Stephen King but enough of these whiners..TAK! Review: After reading the jacket and sizing up the cool cover for King's latest book, I thought I was in for a real treat. Unfortunately, what began with a bang later developed then died with a whimper. King was grasping at straws and trying to incorporate far too much of the "God is Cruel" garbage into young David Carver's character. How I yearn for a return to a book like "The Shining," "The Stand," even "IT" far surpassed this piece of garbage. No wonder my friends have stopped reading this stuff, with all the genuine horror in the world, why does King involve us with evil fake insects and animals possessed by lesser demons? Please tell me "The Regulators" is an improvement
Rating: Summary: ANOTHER GREAT READ Review: STEPHEN KING DOES IT AGAIN! HE KEEPS YOU GUESSSING UNTIL THE VERY END. ALL AND ALL ANOTHER FANTASTIC BOOK. IF YOU LIKE TO BE SCARED THEN THIS IS A BOOK YOU MUSR READ!
Rating: Summary: Desperation, not bad. but you're no THE STAND Review: Reading Desperation right after "The Green Mile" left me expecting more. I think that Mr. King has no brought us an interesting cast of characters. His discussion of how the evil forces influenced and effected them was well-done. The beginning of the book was even scary. Sadly, the last third of the book loses momentum and could have been better. Never does it approach the epic proportion of The Stand as advertised. Yet it is not a bad read. Wait for the paperback and buy it through Amazon Books
Rating: Summary: Very realistic, I couldn't put it down! Review: Makes you feel that this could happen or is possible. King has a way of writing that makes you feel like you are actually there experiencing it yourself. I get so absorbed into his books. King mixes accurate facts and fiction together. It's a must for any Stephen King junkie. I couldn't put it down
Rating: Summary: Hurrah for Stephen King !! Review: Desperation marks the return of the man who wrote The Stand, It and the myriad of books he wrote in the 70's and 80's. Rarely does a book grab my attention from the opening paragraphs, but this book did, and I couldn't put it down. Stephen King's ability to make the reader such a part of the story is masterful. As with The Stand and It, in particular, I was only sorry to see the book end. I have now begun reading The Regulators and am engrossed in it. Be sure to read both of these new books. They're magnificent. Tak
Rating: Summary: Once Again, No, Still . . . "The King" Is Stephen King Review: I like to consider myself The Constant Reader, The Most Ardent Fan and that may, somehow, bias my review. However, anything written by Stephen King always seems to interfere with my job. Desperation is yet another example. As always, I was able to visualize each character and almost "see" the expressions on their faces, I could see the skin falling from Collie's face. Who on this earth can bring such visualization to paper as well as "The Master". I could not sleep, didn't want to go to work, the usual. As always, Stephen King also gives insight into God. Many folks do not understand the need for "a Power Greater Than Ourselves" and believe "we are it". In his usual fashion, Stephen King brings me back to God, whether I have strayed far or, just around the corner.
I am eternally grateful to him for all his writings. We cannot expect to like "everything" we read, however, we should learn to look for the message and not so much at the Messenger.
Thank you, again, Mr. King.
