Summary: well planned
Review: a policeman stops people on the road. there is something very wrong about this policeman- and his small town. something has happened. an evil force has presented itself. the people captured by the policeman must escape and stop it. first they have to find out what's going on. a boy seem to have closer contact with divine forces. this is a very "planned book". there are no irrelevant figures introduced, no sidetracks. very unusual actual. that part is great. good description. good writing style. a touch of psychology. frankly the touch of divine forces irritated me, and the author's sudden "change" really annoyed me. all in all this book wasn't very inventive. the ending must be considered an anticlimax. the characters ended up being a little too stereotypical. but hey, there was suspence here. and the plot just continued, without sidetrackes, admirably. so it's a good read.

Summary: This book...
Review: It's not just a book, it a reading super-experiance, and read phanominon! This book builds to the end, makes you say, 'Oh yeah, it's all comeing together!' This book is page turning, so good it's frightening, and hard to explain.
But don't take my word for it, read

Desperation

Summary: Another classic King book
Review: I'm a huge fan of Stephen King and I've read quite a few of his books but "Desperation" was by far my favorite. From the front cover to the last page I was kept on the edge of my seat and always wanting more. There wasn't a single slow part to the book, the entire thing flowed perfectly. King really goes into in-depth descriptions of scenes and settings, in my mind I could picture Desperation and it's inhabitants. Though this book might not be for the weak of stomach or weak of mind (What King book is?) I thought it was superb. I would recommend it to anyone.

Summary: So real
Review: Stephen King is horrible in this book. Well- let's talk first. He makes the characters so likable and real, that when he kills them off; it's like losing a friend. Their personalities are like normal peoples. Wicked good book! But if you're kinda of soft, you might not like it. There's a part were Steve and Cynthia find a whole mess of dead people hung on coat hangers and a hand in an aquarium. Kinda gross, huh?

Summary: good book
Review: This was a good book, but not spectacular. It start off great, it really pulls you in. The book moves along at a great pace. Some of the characters are good but for the most part they are very 2 dimensional. The villian is the most interesting character by far. The story was involving but in the end I felt unsatisfied. Questions were left unanswered and I felt a little cheated by the end. I wanted more explanation of what in the worl Tak was. Where did it come from. what was the deal with the figurines.

The book is entertaining and tense in alot of moments. I would of been much happier if I didn't feel there were so many loose ends. I have yet to read Regulators maybe that book will shine more light on the subject.

Summary: A Little Too Deep
Review: Desperation was the first good vs. evil book I've read of SK's, and I was a little disapointed.
When I first picked up the book I thought it was a horror book sort of like The Shining, where people are stuck in the middle of nowhere fighting an evil force. However, I was wrong.
The beginning of the book held true to my initial thoughts, but then the book took a turn. It started going into miracles, prayer, and God, which I totally didn't expect. That kind of ruined the story for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a devil worshiper, but I not an extremely religious person, so expecting a good horror novel crafted after my favorite SK book and then getting a religious, Do you believe in God? book was a little disapointing. And was I the only person who found David to be at times extremely annoying? Other than David, all the characters were very interesting and good.
The only other complaint I have is the resolution of the story. It was kind of like watching a good horror movie, and then in the end you find out the horror is just a shadow or bright light.
Desperation is a good book but not one of SK's best. Some scenes are very scary and interesting, but I would suggest The Shining, IT, or Christine better.

Summary: 'OUR GOD IS STRONG'
Review: Having read just over half of King's books, I have to say that Desperation ranks up there with Wizard and Glass as one of my favorites. That said, this book is not for the shallow or the feint of heart. Desperation is a tale of hope and love in the darkest hour--and the hour is dark indeed.

Desperation is a desert town in Nevada. This place, where on the good days the people can be 'intense,' has been turned into a wasteland by an ancient evil. A group of unsuspecting strangers drawn to the town must survive their encounter with this force and in the process make a decision that will forever change their lives.

King's set-up to this story is long, gruesome, and grim. There are parts that any decent person will recoil from--as they should. The evil in this book is not glamorous; it is evil in its most fallen and base form.

Once the dark 'collecting' of the opening is through, the novel finally hits full stride. Good appears in the most unexpected form. Evil is engaged in a battle to the death.

Usually 'good vs. evil' type novels suffer from too much of a 'black and white' didactic moralism. The beauty of Desperation is that the heroes of the novel must first engage the evil and good within themselves before they can lift a finger to fight the real enemy. King never fails to amaze me with the craft of his words and his honest description of the glory and shame of being human.

Desperation is a stand alone novel. However, it ties in (as do many of King's novels) with the Dark Tower series. It also has a bizarro 'sister book' in the late Richard Bachman's The Regulators.

I give Desperation my heartfelt, highest recommendation--don't be scared off by a little blood and guts. There is a lot of despair, desperation and cruelty in these pages. There is also faith, hope, and most importantly--love.

Summary: Wow!
Review: This book was the best one I've ever read. It was exciting from the first word to the last and it was impossible to put down. I would recommend this book to everyone. No one should go without reading this, especially the Stephen King fans.

Summary: I ruined my wife's weekend...
Review: ...because I could not put this book down! Not since Misery has a King novel held my interst as did Desperation. There are enough reviews about this book that clearly describe some of the ideas and characters you'll encounter while reading it, so I'll spare you another long review. My reason for posting my comments are simple. If you enjoy reading a novel, and find yourself trying to predict the outcomes of the various scenarios presented in its pages...and being WRONG every time, then you'll love Desperation as much as I did. The story, characters, and overall message King presents to you with this novel are actually quite touching and memorable. I mean, aside from the harsh language, religious references, and edge-of-your-seat moments filled with gore, but does anyone pick up a Stephen King novel expecting otherwise? Within an hour of finishing it I logged on to Amazon.Com and ordered me a hardcover edition of The Regulators. If the companion novel is anything like it, I'm sure I'll love it too.

Summary: good King book
Review: This book was good I liked it a lot. If you read Rose Madder some of the characters are mentioned. Same as The Tommyknockers. This was sick, scary, and weird. If your a King fan you'll like this book. It kept me guessing!
