Review: When I recieved this book in the mail I started reading it on my breakes at work. I felt like taking longer breakes than they would allow. I just couldn't put it down! It "grabs" you right from the beginning and "holds on to you" till the end. It's the old Stephen King back

Summary: Desperation is a classic!
Review: Oh! My! God! This book is an excellent read for all horror fans, especially Stephen King's. He is able, once again, to scare us in numerous ways. . . this time with snakes, scorpions and a somewhat dead cop. There is also a strong element of religion in this novel, which only add to the morbid and suspensful atmosphere of the story. This book deserves to be a clissic, it is bound to be one. Bravo!, Stephen King

Summary: WOW!!!!
Review: This has to be one of the best stories Stephen King has written. I was engrossed from the very beginning. I also started the companion book "The Regulators" at the same time, trying to figure out which one started it all, but they are seperate stories by themselves. It wasn't hard to feel for the victims. For the main character, David Carver, I think we knew him pretty well, and really felt for him in the end. Stephen King really knows his stuff, he can really scare you when he wants. The man has a twisted mind. If they turn this into a movie (which I don't think so, it would take a lot of toning down), it would be one heck of a scary movie. I enjoy all of King's books, I think this is one of his best and he needs to keep up the good work

Summary: Full of Fabulous Freaky Twists of Fate
Review:

Mr. King is the Wizard of Weird! Love the dead cats and dogs nailed to the road signs! Finished off the first 100+ pages, I can't pull myself away from it, it's got me in it's grip!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!

Summary: I've found better endings lurking inside used tissues.
Review: I admit I'm not a fan of Stephen King, but I will say Stephen King is very talented at bringing his characters to life. In all his novels I've read he has masterfully delved into the psyche of his characters; creating a very original and believable cast.

HOWEVER, this book, like all his others, had an ending that made me feel cheated out of two days of my life.

A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME!

Review: This is the proof we have been waiting for. Stephen King is back, and it is the best novel since The Stand. The big plot is masterfully guided through the whole book. The characters are well discribed. Buy it now

Summary: 4,000 copy First Edition issued in a slipcase
Review: This first edition was published in both a 2,000 copy signed edition and this 4,000 copy slipcased edition. The Viking hardcover weas released a month later in a first printing of 1,500,000 copies without the original illustrations. WELCOME TO DESPERATION "You have the right to remain silent," the big cop said in his robot's voice. "If you do not choose to remain silent, anything you say may be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. I'm going to kill you. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you. Do you understand your rights as I have explained them to you?" Something is terribly wrong in Desperation, Nevada-a small mining town just off Route 50 with a played out open pit copper mine. The streets are wind swept and deserted; animals have the run of the town and something horrific is brewing in the now abandoned mine pit. You won't have a good day in Desperation. Donald M. Grant is pleased to introduce Stephen King's latest novel of Horror and Suspense. Interpreted by award winning artist Don Maitz with five full color paintings and five black & white drawings, this First Edition is being published in a 2,000 copy Deluxe traycased edition signed by both Stephen King and Don Maitz and a 4,000 copy slipcased Gift Edition.

Summary: Doesn't give King's reputation accurate justice
Review: For the average author, this book could be the pinnacle of their career. It shows deep character depth, a highly developed imagination and just enough realism to lend it credibility. However, this work does not live up to the potential the author has shown in works such as Dolores Claiborne, Cujo, and Pet Semetary. King does not give us a chance to become personally acquainted with the characters before horror befalls them. We, the loyal readers, do not care enough about the poor victims to quickly turn the pages, crying out "No, don't go in there, don't do that!". Sorry Mr. King, perhaps your next story could include the death of a book critic.
