Rating: Summary: good book Review: Desperation was a very good book. For some reason, and it may just be me, this story didn't stack up against most of his past treasures. But still I enjoyed reading it a lot, and I wasn't disappointed like I was with Green Mile and Rose Madder. Characters from The Stand and It and Dark Tower and dozens of other King stories seemed more real, more alive, more distinctive. And while I really like the Good vs. Evil theme, I really don't enjoy dragging the whole Christianity thing onto the battlefield. But other than that, Desperation was very suspenseful and entertaining
Rating: Summary: Excellent example of Stephen King detail and insight Review: "Desperation" and "The Regulators" are two wonderful examples of Stephen King's attention to detail and his insight into the human psyche. In "Desperation", King touches upon religion in a way that can unite all readers, regardless of their personal beliefs. Through the eyes of a "gifted" child, King takes the reader on a journey of horror and redemption. Without attempting to analyze or reason, my favorite author both terrifies me and gives me hope.... He is the master
Rating: Summary: HE IS THE KING Review: I have read almost all of Mr. King's books and I must say that after reading "Desperation" I was pleasantly surprised to see Mr. King return to the writing style that made him a favorite for so many years. "Desperation" will be remembered as one of Stephen King's best works, and in my estimation his best work to date. He once again ups the stakes, which may have seemed impossible after a reading of the Stand. Gripping horror and shocking plot twists lead to suspense intense enough to hold even the most steely-stomached reader still for a few hours. Well done Stephen, you have kept and made a lot more fans with this newest masterpiece
Rating: Summary: Inpseration, joy, respect for religos intervention, great Review: The book was one of three Steven King books that i've read. I personaly was thrild to read a book that was so inspiering to my own reilgos interest. Desperation was the first book that I've read that has ever done that, and I am glad I had a chace to have experionsed it. The insperation that the book gave me was one I will never forget, it both interiged me as well as arosed my thouths, and interist
Rating: Summary: starts good, ends lame Review: His books always start out awesome and end cheesy
Rating: Summary: One of King's best! Review: Stepen King is at it again. His ability to take his readers on a rollercoaster ride is amazing. I felt sure that after THE STAND he could not pull off another work of fiction of this caliber. Once again he proves me wrong. I would recommend this book to anyone
Rating: Summary: Great...King's best since the Dark Tower Series Review: Stephen King has gone into a universe he has only hinted at before. His use of good and evil is unparallelled. For someone who liked many of his previous books but thought he did not have the emotional depth of say Anne Rice...this is a must read
Rating: Summary: Exciting and scary Review: Desperation is one of his best books. It has a good plot that is easy to get into, and a villian who is so powerful and scary in itself, that it makes you wonder if such things are possible. the characters in the book are portrayed well. You feel like you know each one of the characters by the ending. The books climax is so exciting, you won't be able to put it down. Desperation is one of his best, and surpasses some of his earlier work.-Daniel C Kilmarti
Rating: Summary: Disappointed reader Review: This was my first book by S.King. It was also my last.
Lots of snakes, rats, blood.
Sorry Stephen, you sell millions of copies but you bored me.
Rating: Summary: King is king! Review: How do I know this is a great book? Let me explain. On the average it would take me about a month to read a 700 page novel. This book was finished in a week!!! Another way I know? I laughed, I cried, I was sorry to see it end...but it doesn't have to!! On to the Regulators!!
