Rating: Summary: This was incredible! Review: I'm 17 years old. I read this book and I have to say it was completely terrifying! I loved every part about it. I couldn't sleep a wink after reading it. Every sound made me jump. And to all the people who think this book was rotten and could of done a better job writing it themselves all I have to say is.....just try to!!!!
Rating: Summary: Gripping suspense, excellent page-turner!!! Review: I was very impressed with this novel. It was very suspensfull, and chillingly scary. King's tradition of good versus evil is well intact in this story. However, I share some critics belief that it is a little too far fetched. I mean, it's somewhat fake and leads some readers to think: "this isn't real!" But, it's a very good book and I recomend it to anyone! Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: So far, so good. Review: I'm reading the book at the moment and have still a long way to go before finishing, but one thing's for sure: it scares me so bad I can't read it at night, don't even think of reading Desperation before you go to sleep......
Rating: Summary: POWERFUL, IMAGINATIVE, ORIGINAL, CHILLING Review: This book will make you scream, sweat, and dream evil all night. Chilling, hardcore, a fight between good and evil, in a land where good does not always win.
Rating: Summary: Desperation, a chilling nightmare. Wonderful!!! Review: Stephen King is always a powerful writer and this book is no exception. It is guaranteed to keep you up all night and occupied all day. You will scream silently from every page you turn.
Rating: Summary: Truly Desperate Review: Quite a disappointment, talking about suspension of believe! While reading the book, I kept thinking where do I draw the line between what is real and what isn't ? While the main theme of good versus evil is predominant, and characters undergo changes as they purify themselves and work towards salvation, as a reader, I am not convinced. Most of the time, the gory and violent details are unneccesary and contrived. While King's other books such as Carrie , Dolores Clairborne and Gerald's King are more realistic and puts a chill in your spine, Desperation lets go of all senses. It leaves me with a very disturbing aftermath.
Rating: Summary: What the hell was that? Review: I've read a lot of Stephen King books and enjoyed most of them, but this is his worst one yet. You can tell he's running out of ideas when you read his most recent books like "Gerald's Game." Mr. King, either start writing good stuff again or retire with your fame and fortune but don't torture us with this crap!
Rating: Summary: Best plot weaving (with "Regulators") since "IT" Review: The one thing to remember when you read Desperation and Regulators: They are totally unrelated in plot. Each book stands alone as a separate story and they may be read in any order. One has nothing to do with the other regardless of the fact that they have the same cast of characters, some the same, like Tak and John, and some not (in one book, Dave is Ralph's father, in the other, Ralph is Dave's father). I bet King drove his logistics editor crazy with these two books!
Rating: Summary: You Can't Help But Love These People Review: I still can't, after all these years, understand how Stephen King ties it all up with a Big Red Bow ...but he does. This man has the ability to make me love the people he creates. I can only imagine how he feels about them! If you don't read this book, you do yourself a disservice. (Also a must read...."Insomnia"
Rating: Summary: Desperation: Place or State of Mind? Review: My first perusal of this novel left me somewhat disappointed. However, I re-read the book twice more and changed my opinion! There is a subtlety in King's writing which holds appeal for the recreational reader and the literary critic. It would appear that King is making social commentaries on many aspects of North American culture with his usual flair. I enjoyed this book thoroughly after giving it a second chance.
