Rating: Summary: Average King Review: This is not the best that King has written (The Stand is), but it was still okay. I diddnt really think the plot was great in the begining, but towards the end it got better. Steve and Cynthia were my favorite characters.
Rating: Summary: A better title might be "Tak en Dak" Review: Overall this novel was pretty good, but not King's best by far. It has a similar theme to The Stand and an even less exciting plot line. By the end of the book, I was so sick of certain characters that I just wanted them to just go away -- especially that "shitty little prayer boy."
Rating: Summary: The Comfort of Familiarity Review: Although, I felt very familiar with the characters and the occurrences in this novel, that in no way decreases my enjoyment of it. From the first chapter I felt like I couldn't put it down. Even though you feel like you know what is going to happen, you still have to keep reading to make sure. Made me put my animal sculptures a little higher on the shelf.
Rating: Summary: As usual, what would you do if it were you? Review: This book did not seem to get lost in the middle like some of his books do. It kept me awake at night even after I read it.
Rating: Summary: DESPERATION is an intense, horrific page-turner Review: With Desperation, King is able to create a multitude of characters that are diverse yet believable. Additionally, the novel's setting is a big reason why the book is interesting. King is able to utilize his often underrated use of character development to enhance the continuation of the story. It would be a tremendous undertaking to see if Hollywood to bring this book to life. Although it is a cliche to do such a thing, it it quite possible that the film would be just as exciting as the book.
Rating: Summary: Hail the King!! Review: Simply Amazing!! In my opinion one of King's best book, dark and obscure. Gripping plot and excellent imagery. I could spend hours writing about this book, but I don't believe I have to. Since I bought it years ago, I have read it more than once!!
Rating: Summary: SOMETHING STINKS Review: This book is hard to put down once you start, due to King's style that just sucks you in. But by the middle, you start to realize that it just plain sucks. It's like King tried to parody himself, glueing plots from It , Tommyknockers, you name it, together. Save your money.
Rating: Summary: A decent read but by far not King's best work Review: The motifs keep coming back. A group of good guys against an overwhelmingly evil force. Like in It and The Stand we've seen this before. Having to crawl blindly in unspeackable muck recurrs here. Physical decomposition of the possessed people as in the Tommy Knockers recurrs here. I found the characters too thin. But it has that ugly metaphor, Stephen King quality we all look for.
Rating: Summary: drive carefully, be afraid of the cops Review: This is the most scary and horrifying book that i hawe ever read. king realy knows how to keap you from your sleap, does anyone know how he gets theas tales of horror and make them come alive?
Rating: Summary: A riveting, even if tired, story. Review: For some reason I feel as if I've seen the group of people in this story before somewhere, like 20 times before, but it doesn't matter. Even though the group of characters in this novel are very familiar, this book doesn't fail to impress.I rarely find a book that I cannot put down, but I read Desperation and could not stop reading it until I finished it. It was a very suspensful novel that any Stephen King fan should read. Forget the fact that you may have heard variations of this story before and you'll be on the edge of your seat.
