Rating: Summary: My first king book maybe the best Review: i bought it completely on impulse. and i have never made a better decision in my life. i never read horror before and now i almost read King exclusively. The story is wonderful and takes you into the world of the supernatural and King actaully puts you there. you become mesmerized no matter how outrageous something might seem you're stuck. David Carver was my first introduction into the wonderful development mr king puts into his charaters. there are about 30 pages at least where an accident involving David's friend is involved and it is so beautiful it makes King an even more incredible author because he writes horror by choice he can write anything he wants. the book is frightening, mysterious, wonderful and even life affirming(those who read it know what i mean). This book is one of the best if not the best book i ever read
Rating: Summary: Stephen King Is a Real Writer! Review: These books that King has come out with in the past decade are not about Horror anymore and the people who don't see that are the same people who read Christine and think "well thats Stephen King" But you cannot expect to read his books and be terrified Why would you want to read these books if all you want is to be scared? There is so much more to this books! I just wanted to tell you that.
Rating: Summary: A good book - I read The Regulators first. Review: Desperation was a good book. What a unique idea making two books out of the same characters, but changing things around a little. It was very entertaining and I absolutely loved the "God" stuff. Very cool. I think I liked The Regulators better though because it was so original. These books are a fast read. I never seem to find Stephen King scary. Sometimes disturbing, but never scary. Anyone got any ideas for me? Feel free to email me. So far in my life i've read The Shining (the best book ever written in my opinion), Desperation, The Regulators, Cujo, Night Shift (very fun and my first SK at the age of 11), The Langoleers (just that one out of 4 Past Midnight)and right now im reading It.
Rating: Summary: I love this book because lots of freaky stuff happens Review: This book is so messed up that stephen king has people dying in the first chapter. There is this cop who plants weed in peoples cars while he is searching just so he can take them to jail and slotter them. With this one guy, he takes his 6 year old daughter and throws her down the stairs and breaks her neck and leaves her there so he can look and laugh at her. I am on page 341 and I have only had this book for 2 weeks. I read slow but I can jpicture everything because stephen king puta so much deatil into every little thing. There is even a Jesus Freak in the book and he is the one woh is saving all of there sorry peices of shit asses. they all are making fun of him sort of, but he still protects them with God right by his side. Even though this book is fiction, I like that kid a lot. evren through the roughest times he still believes in the word of god and god is helping him out with everything. Amen
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: I honestly have to say, this is the best Stephen King book I've read. One of the best written by Stephen King
Rating: Summary: King has redefined the meaning of horror, it is Desperation Review: Stephen King captures his audience from page one of this phenomonal book and does not let go even after the book is finished. His brilliant words draw you into a place where a new kind of evil has awakened. Be prepared to have a few days free, because once you start on the road to Desperation you won't be coming back for a while. Desperation is clearly one of the best Stephen King books that I have ever read. His graphic prose sent shivers down my spine and his characters were incredibly intriguing. You keep writing them Mr. King, and I promise you, I will keep reading!
Rating: Summary: Decent, but by far not his best. Review: This is a fairly decent read, and I also lump the coordinating Regulators into this category. It seems to me that King is having a little trouble coming up with storylines, but, due to his wizardry with words, he can take any sub-par plot and make it profitable. My recommendations are The Stand, It, The Tommyknockers, Misery, and Different Seasons.
Rating: Summary: Better than most recent King, but not a classic Review: Stephen King seems to go hot & cold for years at a time. His early triumphs (The Shining, The Dead Zone, & the Stand) were followed by a period of draught (Christine, Cujo, Firestarter). Then came a strong period again in the mid-to-late 80's (Pet Semetary, It, & Misery), followed again by a weak period that has lasted through most of the 90s (Gerald's Game, Delores Clairborne, & the truly unreadable Insomnia). But recently King has shown signs of coming out of that funk. The Green Mile wasn't bad, once you got past the goofy serialization gimmick. And Desperation is a good, albeit decidedly un-great, book. The spiritual elements that lay beneath the surface of much of King's work are right up front here as good & evil clash again. Not one that will have King fans saying, "this is it, I give up," nor one that will have them saying, "HE'S BAAACK!!!", simply a decent read.
Rating: Summary: About time Review: I had just about given up on King's books. None of his stuff from the past few years was the same caliber as his stuff from the 80s. Now, I have been proven wrong. This book is definitely in the same league. It isn't Christine or The Stand, but it is in the league with all his other stuff from the 80s.
Rating: Summary: A typical Stephen King book Review: This was an interesting book dealing with the old questions between good and evil. The evil was scary and disturbing, the good was trusting and pure, and the final fight between these two was the storyline of the book. When the women woke up in the dark room with spiders crawling all over her i thought that was the best part of the book to me.
