Rating: Summary: Great Character development!!! Review: From the first page this book grabs you and takes you to a different world. Stephen Kings amagined world, where an unspeakable evil lies, and where tumbleweed scutters along the ground in the harsh dusty, Nevada breeze. This new imagined world is called Desperation. You, the reader, will be held prisoner in this place by the ferocious intensity of the book that will just not let you put it down, even while you urinate or have a bowel movement. Just as the absolutely terrified people stuck in Stephen King's Desperation are held prisoner by a real bad low down and dirty, possessed cop. ANYWAY I JUST WANTED TO TELL THE CURIOUS PEOPLE READING THIS REVEIW THAT I ENJOYED THE BOOK IMMENSELY, AND THAT I DEFINETLY RECOMMEND IT.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding!! Review: I am normally a John Grisham reader... I decided to pick up a Stephen King novel just for laughs. I was very pulled into his writing style and the general story. This is a book for any kind of reader. I plan to buy more of his books because of this book. I could not put it down. Good job Stephen!
Rating: Summary: Best king book ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: I know lots of people say this book is bad and boring but thats not half true. from start to end I was in suspense. By the end of the book I felt like ive known all the charachters and have experienced their experiences.I highly rercomend this book to everyone(even 12 year olds like me!!)
Rating: Summary: Not his best.... Review: A decent enough book, but a disapointment to a fan that has stood up for SK in a myriad of different english classes (where he generally gets little respect). The bottom line is that if you have read most of his earlier books there is nothing new here. It is ALL VERY FAMILIAR!!!!! The evil bad guy of this book is a carbon copy of pennywise the clown from "it". In place of character developement in King's own words he "goes for the grossout" in this one. Try "Salem's Lot", "The Stand" or "Night Shift" if you really want to enjoy SK. I'll say again, if you are familiar with the King library, there won't be many surprises in this one
Rating: Summary: A great book, but slow in its development. Review: "Desperation" is a great book. However, compared to it's pseudo-book, "The Regulators," it is not as good. "Desperation" is a story about God. It covers His influence on many different kinds of people. The characters in "Desperation" covers people from all different backgrounds, which is what makes the characters interesting. Their conflicting personalities make "Desperation" work. Stephen King has done a great job in making this story work. Even though the book takes a little too long in some of its aspects, the book, once its finished, is a good experience, and worth buying.
Rating: Summary: THE MOST AMAZING AND TERRIFYING KING BOOK I'VE EVER READ Review: This book took hold of me at the very beginning and even though I've finished it, it hasn't let go. A horrific battle between good and evil, combining chills, thrills, faith, courage, and of course blood and gore! One part of the book actually moved me to tears! I've never been so into a book in all my life. A must read.
Rating: Summary: DOESN'T ANYBODY EDIT STEPHEN KING? Review: I gave up on Stephen King after reading the hardcover edition of GERALD'S GAME when it first came out. I hated all that supernatural stuff that he threw in that had nothing to do with the story, which started out as a great psychological tale and should have stayed that way. So I decided I would give him another chance and picked up DESPERATION. What a mistake! This book was awful. Nothing like the Stephen King of years ago. I had to force myself to finish it. It's clear that this book went straight from manuscript to finished book. Ugh!!!! It's going to be another few years before I pick up a new book by Stephen King!
Rating: Summary: One of the best I've read Review: I've read alot of King's works and this is one of my favorites, the way King links this to Regulators is ingenious. The plot is involving, the characters are so vivid and the atmosphere is explosive. King's brilliance shines on.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best! Review: One of the best books I have read by King, including Rose Madder, and IT. The twisting plot, creepy cop, horrible animals, and past horror stories; makes the book intresting and mystifying.
Rating: Summary: bad as hell story but the ending will make you puke Review: this book started out so cool and brutal but at the end i wanted to hunt down mr.king and murder him. he ended this masterpiece in a happy boring disney like ending in the same he ruined the shining. why does he put these dumb happy endings in his books, i hate that little boy who is the main character, i was rooting for Tak through the whole book to get that little fu*ker. this is pretty good reading but not as good as the regulaters
