Summary: The story that made me a Stephen King fan...
Review: Before listening to Deperation on tape I never really cared for any of King's works because I thought they were somewhat shallow (probably because I "only saw the movie"). After Desperation (AD) I was amazed at the depth of King's thought process and how he makes your mind work overtime just trying to surmise what is ahead for the characters. This story kept me on the edge of my seat while driving in commute traffic and actually kept me in my car in the company parking lot until the story came to a break. Kathy Bates did a superb job in recording this story, making it even more enjoyable.

Summary: Good Vs. Evil - King wins again.
Review: Desperation, a small town in the American Desert, is haunted by an unformed being, Tak, which is trying to control and protect its little eden of death for eternity. Tak's taste for flesh is unrelenting and is excitingly and disgustingly detailed as only King can do. Does letting the genie out of the bottle conjure up any thoughts? Well that is basically the plot of this story. It is a book that almost reads itself and if your into deteriorating killer zombies, bodies on walls, a sicko policeman, and a little boy who can actually converse with God, then this book is definitely for you. Overall for a Stephen King fan the book is worthwhile and would be a good addition to your collection. If you've never read Stephen King before, this would be a good place to start - then go out and be terrified by The Shining.

Summary: One of the best ever
Review: This is one of Mr. King's best ever, in my opinion, right up there in terms of scariness, excitement and characters with "It" and "The Stand". You can pass over "The Regulators" without much worry, but do not miss "Desparation". Tak!

Summary: A novel not only about who is God but what is God.
Review: This is the first fiction book that not only left me with questions about my own real beliefs in God, but if I really believe in God at all. This is one of the best books about reallly beleiving in whatever it is that you call your higherpower. I did not sleep for weeks tyring to fiure it out.

Summary: It's one of the best King books I've read.
Review: If you're in the mood for a good, fast reading horror book, Despereation is a good one. I know it looks big, but once you get into it, it's really good. I'm in my teens, and read Stephen King's books a lot, and this is one of the best!

Review: This is one of the best book i read by Stepehn King. Before i knew it i already read more than a 100 pages. This was better than The Regulators. Its hard to just stop reading after the first few pages.

Summary: Desperation was the best book I've picked up in a long time!
Review: I really enjoyed this novel. Before I even knew it, I had read a hundred pages. It starts out good and gets even better. King really grabs you by the "short hairs".

Summary: IT WAS SO GREAT---------I READ IT ALL IN ONE DAY & NIGHT!
Review: READ IT NOW!!!!!!!!! I have read everything he has written and this is in my top three (Green Mile & The Dark Tower Series share the top spot). I could not tear myself away from DESPERATION. The characters, the setting, the mood-----I was hooked. I had a business meeting early the next morning, but everytime I tried to go to sleep, I couldn't get it out of my mind, and picked it up again. Fourteen hours later, I had read the entire thing. I love King. I loved DESPERATION.

Summary: His worst.
Review: I think this is the funniest book King has ever written. Too bad I wasn't in a laughing mood.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: excellent
Review: This was the best book I have read in some time. The characters were well defined, and the plot was well conceived. I liked it enough to read it twice and recommend it to anyone who likes King.

The haunted mine was a good twist, and the book was much better than the Regulators. Even though the characters are entwined.
