Rating: Summary: The shining is only mediocre Review: Actually ,I'm pretty disappointed by the shining. I mean, its Stephen King no doubt but that's the problem with it.It is just too usual. After reading a lifetimes worth of Stephen King's books,I'm beginning to get bored with his stereotyped books and ultimately, lack of imagination.
Rating: Summary: keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. scary! Review: This was the best Stephen King book I have ever read. I recommend this story for people who like scary novels. Danny was a great part for the story and he was very funny with the things he did not know. If you have not read it yet, I recommend this story very strongly
Rating: Summary: This is the most primitive writing that I have ever read. Review: Stephen King's writing has gotten to a point where is obvious that he running out of ideas. He is clearly just writing for the money. A hotel that drives you nuts, give me a break.
Rating: Summary: Stephen King shines in The Shining Review: STEPHEN KING IS THE ULTIMATE HORROR WRITER THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN AND WILL SEE!!! HE IS A BORN GENIUS!!
Rating: Summary: Just fascinating .... and terrorizing ! Review: I think Mr. King nearly scares us to death with his blank terror written down in this novel. Pro: Characters, Story and ... the details ! Nearly never saw that much details in another King-book before. Contra: The Villain. The Overlook hotel is a little bit too much personalized in my opinion, the human factor is too big here ...
Rating: Summary: Very suspenseful! Review: I really loved the book and the movie! I think it is one of Stephen King's best books! I agree it is slow at first, but after that you can't put it down!!! P.S. I have seen the miniseries 18 times! REDRUM!
Rating: Summary: Not just scary......FRIGHTENING!!!!! Review: I'm admitidly new to the horror genre and only read The Shining because it was left at the beach house I was watching over the winter,...but I now will never read another because I was literally scared to death!!! I left all the lights in the house on every single night after I finished. The Shining is a wonderful play on the human mind and what deep dark secrets and powers lie inside. Right, this is fiction. Or is it?
Rating: Summary: The best book you'll ever read Review: After reading this book you won't be able to sleep at night.I wouldn't even walk down the hallway alone when I was reading it.It's about a haunted hotel known as the Overlook and the winter caretaker named Jack Torrance, who is a former alcholic, takes his wife Wendy and his son Danny who has the telepathic power known as the shining. On closing day Danny meets Dick Halloran, one of the hotels chefs who has the same power. While staying there the Danny sees disturbing things like a dead woman in a bathtub and moving hedge animals.Danny knows the violent past of the Overlook and it's plot to turn Jack against his family. You won't be able to put this book down from the minute you start reading.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST !!!!!! Review: THIS HAS GOT TO BE MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE BOOK BY STEPHEN KING. HE DEFINITELY KNOWS HOW TO SCARE, THE MAN MUST EITHER BE CRAZY, OR A GENIUS. I PICK BOTH. THE SIX HOUR MINI SERIES WAS TRUE TO THE BOOK, MORE SO THAN THE ORIGINAL FILM, BUT THIS BOOK KEPT ME AWAKE NIGHTS. I DON'T READ HIM AT NIGHT ANYMORE
Rating: Summary: What a fantastic book, King excels again Review: This book is one of the best horror books I have read. The narrative moves swiftly, not leaving any stone unturned, yet allowing the space for you rimagination to take over, and scare you witless.
I read this book with the pages almost shut for fear of something jumping out.
Beware all who enter the Overlook Hotel.
