Rating: Summary: The greatest of the King books. An absolute must read! Review: I have been reading his books since the fourth grade(i am now in the seventh grade), and this one hit me.This has become my absolute favorite book. It has a thrilling story of an alchoholic father, who has been fired from his job because of a prank played on him. He ends up finding a job as a caretaker for a huge hotel and goes mad. This book is wonderful.
Rating: Summary: Not so scary Review: This book is okay but it needs to be more intense and scary!Every chapter ends with a so-called mystery. If you're the kind that likes down to earth horror than this book is for you!!!
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: When I Ffirst read the book the SHINIG I thought right away that was Stephen Kings best book ever! You can even imagine the son's (Danny) power when he mentally imagines the room with snow outside and the window with the words in red was written REDRUM and the kids insane fear of the word not knowing what it means. Another bone chilling part is when he imagines he is in the dark hallway of the Overlook (the Hotel were the main part of the book takes place) an sees the shadowy figure of a man with a mallet calling for him. This is the most scariest and realistic book I read ever.
Rating: Summary: I think this is the best book ever Review: This book is by far the best book by any author ever
Rating: Summary: I loved The Shining Review: Stephen King is such a genius. I mean, The Shining is so brilliant with Jack Torrance's madness, Wendy's worries, and Danny's SHINING. I definitely reccomend this book and miniseries to anyone.Oh, by the way, does anyone know where I can find a copy of The Shining Miniseries on video. That miniseries rocks like hell.
Rating: Summary: A SHOCKER Review: THIS SCARED ME BUT IT WAS VERY ENJOYABLE ESPECIALLY BECAUSE YOU CAN NEVER TELL WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT. THIS IS A MUST READ BOOK FOR ANY HORROR FAN AND NOT FOR THE EASILY SCARED.
Rating: Summary: A Modern Day Horror Masterpiece! Review: "The Shining" is easily one of the most riveting and scary novels I have read in recent years. There is never a dull moment in this power-packed thriller about a family stranded in an isolated hotel with the dad who becomes possessed by demons from the hotel's violent past. With insightful commentary on the dangers of alcoholism and child abuse, this is as good as any horror movie and a must-read for Stephen King buffs.
Rating: Summary: The scariest book ever written! Review: The Shining hooks you in from the first chapter and won't let you put it down. I just kept reading because I HAD to know what would happen next. It seems kind of corny to say it, but I was actually holding my breath in many parts I was so tense. Stephen King truly is the master of suspense. (By the way, the book is infinitely better than any movie version)
Rating: Summary: You'll read every g*dd*mn page! Review: You could picture it all in your mind. I could see the mallet swinging. Smashing the (bone. blood.) walls. Do not read at night. I could hardly sleep for fear of evil monsters. My house isn't an inhuman place that makes human monsters but none the less I was quaking all the way through. Read it during the day if you scare easily but read another book at night. That way you don't lie awake thinking of redrum. And most of all, do NOT read it in the bathtub. You will be afraid to close both eyes at the same time. King described the dead people in the bathtub most vividly of all so you'd know what I mean.
Rating: Summary: In one word GREAT! Review: The Shining is a true tale of evil. The twists and turns plus what lurks behind room 217 will make you shudder time and time again. I loved every minute of the brialliant novel. Just from reading the first 30 pages or so the book turns itself into a magnet. You think, "Okay I'll read one more page then go to bed." Then you realize five pages have gone by without you even knowing it. Then you actualy close the book and go to bed to find out you suffer from fear of the dark. So you turn the light on and you still can't sleep so you begin reading again. They should save your sanity and just slap a sticker that says- WARNING: Sleep may not come for weeks after you reach the riseing action of the novel!!! Seriously parts of The Shining are that scary. I recommend this book for people woh do and don't scare easily.
