Summary: The Shining
Review: This book is a very intersting and exciting book. Danny is a special boy, he sees things that other people can't. When his father gets a job as a caretaker for a hotel, Danny has a bad feeling about going there. He has visions of fire, lots of snow, and blood on the walls and floor of the hotel. There is one strange word that sticks in his head and he is not sure what it means. REDRUM! As Danny and his parents are alone in the hotel strange things start to happen. Snow is blocking anyone from going in or coming out.Read the book to find out what happens.

Summary: It will scare the hell out of you!
Review: When I first read this book, I did not want to read alone. This is one hell of a scary novel! After you read this book, you will never forget it. This book will be going to be rememberd for a long time. But when I saw the movie, I was very disapionted and this movie is one of Stanely Krubrick's mistakes. Anyway, I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to be scared and loves the feeling of horror. But if you do not want to be disapionted, do not see the movie before you read this book or any other time. Believe me, its not better than the book.

Summary: DAMN SCARY!
Review: That was one of the scariest books I've ever read! The scene of room 217 frightened me the most, especially when the woman started to choke Danny. I locked my door that night and the bathroom door. I kept on looking out the window for the bushes and made sure they weren't charging, that book had some major cinematic effects. Awesome

Summary: The film is better
Review: A rather long(-winded?) book for such a simple yet remarkable and imaginative story. Sometimes suspenseful, sometimes boring, but certainly not scary or horrific. The film on the other hand....

Summary: Stephen rocks
Review: "The Shining" I found was pretty good. The only problem I had was trying to get into the book in the beginning, to feel involved in it. I felt it could have hurried up a little, but as always Stephen King mezmorizes you into the book by his ingenius imagination and writing style.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: THE SHINING IS A MASTERPIECE
Review: It is my firm belief that Stephen King has produced thus far in his career four literary masterpieces (and another half-dozen or so which come pretty close): THE SHINING, THE STAND, MISERY, and, most recently, HEARTS IN ATLANTIS. (Of those that come close, I'd include 'SALEM'S LOT, THE DEAD ZONE, DIFFERENT SEASONS, PET SEMATARY, DOLORES CLAIBORNE, and THE GREEN MILE.) THE SHINING is a brilliant exercise in terror, an adroit exploration into the enormously adverse effects of alcoholism on relationships and families, and a superbly crafted piece of fiction: a must-read not only for horror fans but for anyone who appreciates good writing and good stories.

Summary: you'll be jumping at the sight of your own shadow!
Review: DO NOT READ RIGHT BEFORE BED UNLESS YOU PLAN ON STAYING UP ALL NIGHT! chilling story with many details. makes the imagination work full time, and shows how deadly your own mind can be. for those of you who have seen the movie, the novel is totally different. take the time to read something exciting, because all work and no play makes jack a dull boy.....

Summary: One of Kings top 10
Review: This is the only book I have ever read where I HAD to put it down I was so scared. No kidding! I was home alone and I had to STOP and wait till my husband got home. I'll never forget it. I was with Danny all the way...WHAT A RIDE!

Advise: Do NOT even bother with the movie or judge the book by the movie. The movie was a disgrace. Jack Nicholson was perfect BUT everything & everybody else was dead wrong. It didn't jive true with the book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This book is a delightful treat to the avid reader!
Review: I loved this book! One of King's absoulute best. If you like this book, read the stand. Even I, a 12 twelve year old, can appreciate how Stephen King influences the horror industry.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: chilling and breathtaking throughout the whole book.
Review: This book is the greatest masterpiece of King's since "The Stand".I couldn't put the book down from page one.King really knows how to keep you in suspense and in this book he really does it.
