Rating: Summary: Great Review: The Shining was great. I thought that is was kinda scary but not too much. I thought that was good because I don't like real scary stuff. I am going to see the movie and hope it is as good as the book. I thought it was great but it is really personal preference.
Rating: Summary: Don't Get Your Hopes Up Review: I remember after first seeing the movie how people kept telling me, "oh, you HAVE to read the book! All the holes in the movie are filled in with the book!" Well, I just finished reading and...... is that it? Is there a Part II that I missed? I'm sorry, but this is a pretty basic story that goes on and on and on about the boring thoughts each of the characters have during every point in the story. A bunch of boring spooks haunting a hotel. Some posessed hedges. Yawn. Scary? Please.
Rating: Summary: Good, but Unbelieveable Review: I thought this book was interesting in the beginning, but after a while it got a little wierd. The wierd part was the dacing robot, but the book crossed the line into bazzar when the alien spacecraft landed in the suburban community of Shaker Heights, Ohio. Super Terrific, but strange.
Rating: Summary: Really Good Yeah WOW! Review: I loved it, it was super terriffic!Yamma Hamma Hoochie Mamma! I loved it!
Rating: Summary: An excellent read! Review: I found this book to be very engrossing and difficult to put down! Although, I was a little dissapointed with the ending because it seemed to be a bit of an anti-climax to an otherwise gripping book. Overall a very good read, though! I would recommend this book to people who love Stephen King!
Rating: Summary: I have always been scared easily.... Review: I have always scared easily, but the first scary movie I could ever sit through was the Shining. I was amazed at the story, and I loved the moral of child survival. So I finally decided to read the book and realized something....the book is not only better and more descriptive then the movie, but it is alot scarier. In the movie, Jack Torrence had an ax that he chopped doors down with. In the book he has a croquet mallet. That is another thing I learned...you can hit someone alot more times with a croquet mallet then with an ax....OUCH! Steven King is a genious...even though every time I read one of his books I swear never again, I always pick another one up....he is truly amazing!
Rating: Summary: The Shining Review: I give it five stars all the way. Stephen King remains my all-time favorite author. It's amazing how he creates and brings to life the characters so vividly. I also liked how he connected Misery in with it. (They both took place in Sidewinder,Colorado). The haunted secluded hotel is terrorifingly brillant. Though the book is much better,I highly recommend the movie,Jack Nicholson plays the greatest psycho. Again, I highly recommend that you read The Shining by Stephen King It'll give you nightmares just like it did me.
Rating: Summary: Terrifyingly engrossing Review: I'm a seventh grader ina small town outside of Charlotte, NC. My mom didn't want me to watch the movie "The Shining," so I decided to read the book. How long did it take me? 2 days! Not bad for a 447 page book! It was so well woven and scary that it kept me going all day! It pumps up adrenaline bigtime!
Rating: Summary: thrill seekers this is for you! Review: This book was the first real horror book that I ever read and I have now read it 14 times so it has got to be good. A few of my friends read it an bought it the day that they finished reading it. So in my opinion this book is a need to read book!
Rating: Summary: The best book EVER written! Review: Voices heard in the halls of the ominous hotel, visions of of a startling past, REDRUM-All of these things are what make the book a good scare! I read this book in eighth grade and try not to read it alone. King has conjured up a book of horror and suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat from one page to the next. This is King's best work. I love this book and read it atleast once a year (preferably in the WINTER). I reccomend this book to anyone who wants a good scare and has a good imagination. Warning: DO NOT READ ALONE OR IN THE DARK!
