Rating: Summary: Did not reach the level of 'The Witching Hour' Review: Where the Witching Hour was really entralling, mysterious, ... Anne Rice start explaining what Lasher is/was. Doing so, she makes the mystery of Lasher dissappear and he becomes a biological specie ilo of remaining the mystery he was in the Witching Hour. Anyway, I still thinks the book is OK, I do advise to others, but ... it doesn't reach the same level as the former book.
Rating: Summary: julien mayfair- who could ask for more? Review: i was absolutely mezmerized by julien's tale in Lasher. julien mayfair is the epitomy of charm and a man of his own time. the book should be read just for his tale.
Rating: Summary: I liked The Witching Hour better. Review: Anne Rice is a wonderful author. She captures the scene as if she were really there. If you really want to know Michael and Rowans fate this is the book to read.
Rating: Summary: Read Lasher Review: Having never read Ann Rice I picked up Lasher not realising it was a sequel. Although I was very confused at first, as I hadn't read the Witching Hour, I loved the book tremendously and am currently reading the Witching Hour. Lasher introduced me to the amazing world of Ann Rice novels.
Rating: Summary: SENSATIONAL Review: Thought this was the greatest book I ever read. It just pulls you right into the story. Couldn't put it down. I was part to the whole story. You can really feel the emotions of the characters. At times you even feel sorry for Lasher. He is like a trapped soul. Marvelous!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent sequel Review: A rare occurence of a sequel being almost as good as its predecessor. Lasher returns to haunt the Mayfairs, only this time he's in the flesh, and as deadly as ever. Now he's frantically trying to find the Mayfair women who can bear his child, leaving a trail of death in his wake. Readers who loved Rice's richly detailed chronicle of the Mayfairs' history in The Witching Hour will relish Julien's ghostly narrative of his struggles with Lasher and Lasher's own tale of disillusionment and desperation. More suspenseful than The Witching Hour, this book gave me nightmares one night the first time I read it, something that almost never happens to me! Excellent, although not quite as good as The Witching Hour (my personal Rice favorite), but better than Taltos, the third book in this series.
Rating: Summary: Not a great sequel, not a bad book Review: Anne Rice's "Lasher," while not a bad book, was a disappointing sequel. There is too much review of what went on in "The Witching Hour" and not enough emphasis on new material. Not a bad piece of work on its own though.
Rating: Summary: good but could have been better Review: Lasher was not one of the best ann Rice books i have read, but it makes an interesting sequel to The Witching Hour. The focus tends to be toward Mona, the independent teenager, and this proves to add an interesting point of view along with Julien's enlightening story. However, Lasher would have been better off as the beginning to Taltos instead of it's own book. Since i have read all three of the Lives of the Mayfair Witches, I can say that i tend to remember The Witching Hour and Taltos while Lasher is in the back of my mind. I did love the book and do reccomend that you read it.
Rating: Summary: Worst book she has ever written ! Review: A mere attempt of a poor copy of "The Witching Hour". Lengthy, boring, flat characters, strory drags on.
Juliens recounts most of what the readers already knew from "The Withing Hour" and describes himself as a troubled soul (which is hardly believable, by the way).
Wait for the movie and please ponder seriously whether you are going to watch it or not, but don't read the book!
Rating: Summary: Great Review: The book Lasher was great, it is an excellent sequel to "The Witching Hour." You learn much more about Lasher, and Juliens storys
