Rating: Summary: King.....not at his best Review: This novel seemed to go on without much of a plot, and I would have to say it is one of his worst. Desperation is much much better, The regulators is just well hardly worth the effort.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST Review: I hade got to say that this is Kings BEST BOOK yet. It has got everything it takes for you to read it cover to cover. And when you've read it you HAVE TO read Richard Bachmans THE REGULATORS. There to book are incredible.
Rating: Summary: A simple yet fresh, entertaining plot. I loved it. Review: This book is basically a full scale slaughter of a suburban community cooked up through a child's imagination. The characters are the usuall King/Bachman style, down to earth people dealing with a freaky situation. A lot of action and plenty of violence, faster paced than the majority of the King books. Definatley worth reading if in the mood for something quick and violent.
Rating: Summary: Absolute garbage Review: If you like a book with no surprises, about 27 characters to keep track of, and lots of repetitive mass-murder scenes, then this book is for you. Otherwise, choose something else. Terrible job by the author on this one. There's so little content here that he could have written this story in ten pages. Note that Desperation, by contrast, is actually a very good story. Do not confuse the two.
Rating: Summary: I read this one three times in three days. Review: And I'll probably read it again in the near future. I loved this book! There's a little technique I use to make books a little more fun for me. I "assign" myself a role as one of the characters while I'm reading, and give friends and family members of mine other roles. This was probably one of the most fun books I've ever done that with (I picture myself as Steve Ames, by the way.). And tell me you wouldn't be scared if some little kid came up to you saying "Tak ah lah, Tak ah wan! "
Rating: Summary: A fun time Review: PLEASE remember that this is written in the "voice" of R.Bachman, not S.King, so it's going to be different from King's other novels. I enjoyed this story very much, couldn't put it down, as a matter of fact. It was scary to me, I think, because I kept picturing it happening in MY suburban neighborhood. Look out the window, it's another senseless, nameless evil you can't begin to wrap your mind around...ooooo... Spooky as...heck, but interesting and surprising, too. I also liked the intertwining of the two novels. It seemed more adventurous than gimmicky to me. All in all, an enjoyable ride. Okay, a bit gory, but necessary gore, IMHO. OH, and Look for Desperation, too. (actually by S.King) I liked that one even better.
Rating: Summary: Fun to pass the time but a little too gory Review: I gave three stars because to me it's "average" King, not the best, (not the worst either, e.g. I couldn't even finish the THE WASTE LANDS -- what IS all that stuff in the middle part about Roland's childhood anyway???) but still amusing enough. What I found rather disappointing was that gore was used rather than true suspense, sure the vans are coming back, but since that isn't enough then bodies have to explode or arms blown off in very nice detail, but if all we want is gore, we don't have to go to Stephen King for that. Usually compassionate characters is what makes his books really interesting and this had only a little of that. I felt sorry for the aunt of the autistic kid, and the kid himself, but the rest of the characters were either boring or -itches. The ending was a little bit "out there" as usual, but ghosts leaving behind half eaten spaghetti cans was too much. But the book is worth it anyway.
Rating: Summary: FRESH NEW IDEA FOR A PLOT Review: This is the first Stephen King book I ever read. And now that I have read it, I am a faithful follower of King and anticipate reading more of his novels, both those he has already written and any he may be yet to write. The storyline is excellent, not quite as believable (!) as Desperation, and with a really poor ending, but if you put aside these flaws and simply read, you will not be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Good story, but NO MORE SUPERNATURAL KIDS, PLEASE!!! Review: King comes through again with his vivid character descriptions. The street the story takes place on is Anystreet,USA, and the people are you and me in blunt honest portrayals. While I enjoy all of his stories, I think I have had just about enough of the "child with supernatural powers" being the center of too many of his novels. Please, Mr. King, I am waiting for another non-child protagonist based story.Guys in business suits scare me a hell of a lot more than an autistic child who watches cartoons.
Rating: Summary: Letter grade=F Review: Coudn't even finish it, threw it in the trash
