Summary: Confusing. I gave up after 100 pages!
Review: I found this to be a very hard story to follow. I read the first 110 pages and gave up. Too many characters and too many time shifts. I kept getting confused trying to keep track of the who's and when's. I read these books to relax, and I could not do that with this book. Sorry, Mr. King. I will not invest more time and effort in this book.

Summary: Oh come on!
Review: How can you say this book was bad? It was understandable and just really good. I really enjoyed this book (though not a 10) and I think you people should lighten up. What was bad about? It was very well written and I was hooked from the beginning. You had the charecters that you liked and the charecters you hated. (Spoiler: thank god that those charecters were killed) I just really thought it was a good book and would never give it a 7 or lower.

Summary: What the heck?
Review: Desperation was one of King's best. Maybe not the best in terms of The Stand or IT, but it was a very good comback from novels like Insomnia and other worthless books. The Regulators is one of King's worst. This book was sooooo bad! I didn't even finish it and I hope most people don't even start it. Beware...of this....of this thing called a book!

Summary: it's somewhat boring
Review: lack of new ideas, very boring, don't make any sense and don't have a point. it's definitely not as good as the Stephen King's work in the past.

Summary: A real attention grabber
Review: I found that the book the "Regulators" by Stephen King was a gripping tale. I found myself compelled to read it to the end. The characters where very much like the people you would/could find on any street in USA. The story line was bizarre but kept held captive to keep turning the page to find out more. If you read this book you must read King's novel "Desperation". Although you will be taken aback by the differences it is a great and inventive way to create a two-part book series that makes no difference which one you read first.

Summary: Terrific beginning - gets more and more boring
Review: I have read better books by Stephen King. I think he should take a creative break for a while. Or there is the danger he will outlive his fame. What you really miss is ideas - new ideas. The plot of the novel does not develop. You know after 80 pages what the problem is. And then you are patiently waiting for the ending - the reader already knows who will die and who won't. And the same events happen over and over again.

Summary: It should have been a better book
Review: I was checking the reviews to see if I missed something that others saw in this book. I was confused and gave up on the book about 3/4 of the way though it. I enjoy King's writings and thought this would be just as good but I was wrong. Sorry King.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Best plot weaving (with "Desperation") since "IT"
Review: Regulators is the lesser of its counterpart, Desperation, but enjoyable none the less if for nothing else than to see how King makes two completely separate books using the same character names and based on the same antagonist premise.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: mean-spirited, violent & sometimes boring...
Review: I was fully prepared for the violent, grotesque passages of Regulators. Any King movie adaptation would require an "R" rating - Regulators, if the movie version were faithful, would require an "NC-17" rating. That being said, the book gets bogged down with character-retreads from earlier King novels, and adding to the boredom is the overall repetition of the violence. Nothing new, but the book can be humorous and a few charcters are entertaining. Read this only if you plan to read the superior Desperation - It's fun to see the subtle changes in the "parallel universes."

Summary: LOOK HERE! I HAVE A STATEMENT
Review: I agree, this book is not great, but, it is a good read, condsidering his earlier novels like Rose Madder, which were boring. But, I have to explain something. Steven King always has a major theme running through every story he has ever written. He tries writing what he WANTS to write, what the moral or point he wants to get across. In IT, he said he wanted to write a story about kids and childhood fear. In MISERY, he wrote of a writer in peril, giving the point that what damages you is always with you. Anne Wilkes stayed with Paul Sheldon, making him write an autobiography and anything he could relating to his horror. THE SHINING was about the human mind against isolation. So, whatever THE REGULATORS point was, I'm sure Mr. King had a good one. And maybe, after critics have criticised, and understood this novel better, maybe we'll know. But until then, just sit back and read. Let you imagination take you away into a horror. Yes, this is comic bookish, but it is FUN. Don't take this one seriously, just have a good time. This lacks depth, but comes back with speed, and intertwining plots. READ IT
