Rating: Summary: Stephen King's Best Ever Review: I have read many of the review of this book and most have been negative! I feel that this book is proberally one of the most heart wrentching stories I have read. I have read the classic "The Stand" and I thought that this book was way better, The way Stephen King describes what the demon Tak does to the Wyler household and the shear velocty on the violence in this book is phenominal. I think this book is his best ever! I also thought the the book "Desperation" was very timid compared to this book! I hail it as Stephen King's Best!
Rating: Summary: Cool Review: This is my favorite Stephen King book. If you haven't read one of his books I don't think you should start with this one. It is a hard reader. I read this book when I was eleven. It's great.
Rating: Summary: ONE GROSS ALL OUT GRAPHIC GORE-FEST OF A RIDE! Review: DESPERATION should be read first for a better understanding of the story and its characters(most importantly,TAK).I liked DESPERATION better, but this one ain't half bad.If you like your stories served up with limb severing, blood gushing violence with high body counts and a head half blown away by a shotgun on the side than this book's for you!King is known for the great detail that he puts into his characters and plots, but in THE REGULATORS he puts just as much detail into the carnage and gore! TAK!TAK!
Rating: Summary: A sad end for Bachman. Review: I read Desperation almost a year beafore reading this book. I tought it was terrible, but this one is even worse! It has some good ideas, but the plot is too simple and predictable for a novel. They both sohuld have been short stories. I hope Stephen King, or Richard Bachman o whoever the hell he is, wises up and tries something more decent.
Rating: Summary: HATED IT (Desperation is much better!!!) Review: Hopefully this will be the only time Stephen King tries the gimmick of companion novels. Found this one to be boring and predictable and the juxtaposition of characters from "Desperation" confusing.I literally ran out and bought this book after finishing "Desperation" but was highly disapointed. Glad I only lost the money on a paper back. Final Note: "Desperation" (the compainion novel) is CLASSIC, FANTASTIC King!!!!
Rating: Summary: King should've stopped while he was ahead. Review: I read "Desperation" and after finishing it I couldn't wait to read this one. Boy was I disappointed. It just didn't have the scary edge that it's predecessor had. In short: a somewhat average novel. Not at all what you'd expect from King.
Rating: Summary: BACHMAN'S TRUNK SHOULD BE SEALED Review: I'm a huge Stephen King fan and loved DESPERATION, but THE REGULATORS is something King should have worked as a short story. The idea is a clever one, and I like how the characters in DESPERATION are weaved in, but the events just get old and static. It's the only King/Bachman book I put down before finishing, sad to say.
Rating: Summary: Better than Desperation, not as good as 'Salem's Lot. :-) Review: From these reviews, I must be the only one who thought The Regulators was a better book than its companion novel. It didn't pull me in and rearrange me the way some of his books have (that happens less often with King writings now), but it was fun in a wildly irreverent way.
Rating: Summary: Underneath all the blood and gore, a good book lies.... Review: The moment I first picked up this book, I could not put it down. Yet I must admit all of the blood and gore is a quick turn off, you learn to look past it all to what really lies in this book. The plot is a real gripper. Not telling you much of nothing about what it is that is killing all of these people, dogs, and anything else that moves. But slowly but surely giving it away. I can't say that this is not a good book because in the end it all comes to another great king novel. But this one is for die hard King fans only.
Rating: Summary: I liked it. Review: This book is nowhere near as good as Desperation, or many other King novels. But i'm sorry, there is no denying that this book isn't interesting, intriguing, comical and suspenseful. And there is a scene in the book that had me more terrified than anything I have read since "it" and for that scene this book is worth it...make sure you read Desperation first!!!!!!
