Summary: A Wonderful Read
Review: Stephen King writes a brillant tale about a quest for understanding and freedom. He blends different characters and different worlds into a series that captures the reader and doesn't let go. This is a series that any fan of adventure, fantasy, or thrillers must read.

The first novel introduces Roland, the last of the Gunslingers, a relic from a time when all of his world was Light. This paradise that is descibed by Roland was destroyed by civil war and unnatural occurances. Roland has taken up a quest to find the Dark Tower, the vortex of all time and all universes, where he will find a way to help his world from moving on. In this novel, Roland is found crossing a desert after the man in black, whom Roland is pursuing in hopes that the man in black can give him the key to the Dark Tower. On his way across the desert, Roland comes upon a boy, Jake, who was killed in our world and transported to Roland's world. Jake becomes Roland's sacrifice and bargaining chip to finding the answers he needs, but the boy also becomes his burden.

In the second novel, Roland finds himself in a part of his world that he is ignorant of, which causes him make several mistakes that nearly cost him his life. Here Roland must "draw" three people from our world to accompany him on his quest. Each one has individual quests to overcome. The first one drawn is a heroin addict that must beat his own demons before he can aid Roland. The second is a handicapped woman with split personalities that must be melded into one. The last person to be drawn is the boy, whose death in novel one has haunted Roland and nearly driven him to insanity. These four set off on the quest for the Dark Tower.

The third novel finds the travelers in a land torn by unrest. They must battle a giant bear, a deranged ruler, and a monorail that has been alive so long that it has gone crazy. They find clues that they are nearing the Dark Tower, but it doesn't seem to come any closer. Their quest seems to get no shorter as they travel into the fourth novel in the series.

All in all, this a series that will have the readers cheering for Roland and his band to reach their destination. The end of each novel creates a craving only for the next. This series and all of its characters find places in our hearts and never leaves us.

Summary: Pleasantly Addictive
Review: The Dark Tower series is one of Stephen King's most captivating creations. You are drawn into Roland's world from the very first sentence and your imagination will be sparked with the new and unusual ideals until you turn the very last page. On the brink of surreal, this series is one you don't want to miss.

Summary: Need to enter Dark Tower Anonomous LOL
Review: With Literature this enjoyalble I would have actually READ the books in HIgh School Lit not the Cliff Notes.

This series of books is just plain enthrawling. I had gotten into this addictive little series since I was in High School (late 80's), and, have been checking all the bookstores yearly to get another "hit" of Roland and the gang. Needless to say...when Wizards came out I HAD to fork over the [money] + tax (LOL) to get that book! They are wonderful stories. I do not always understand the complexities sometimes (too long of a stretch between books)but, that just makes it more interresting. Just makes me want to dig the other books out and read them again. (which I probably will lol) Even better.. I'll go buy the book on tape series... it sounds very well made.

Summary: Fun but.....
Review: I found the gunslinger dark tower to be a very good book but I wasn't able to grasp the story completely. I didn't know why he was following the man in black or why he wanted to go to the tower. I enjoyed the initial storyline but I couldn't fully appreciate where the story was going.

Summary: The Dark Tower Series
Review: Having read the whole series up to date, I can truly say that these stories are not only thrilling but a page turner from beginning to end. There are so many different scenerio's that could happen in this book that it could go on forever! My favorite book so far is when the gunslinger goes back to his childhood as a young lad. My advice is to read from the first book to the last one written though otherwise you'll be confused if you don't know the full story behind the gunslinger and his friends.

Summary: His best -- without a doubt
Review: This series holds my attention to the degree that I'm reading it for the 3rd time. I've read every single thing that SK has written and this incredibly written series is the best of the best. The story is fascinating, it leaves the reader wanting to know absolutely everything about the main characters and keeps me on the edge of my seat. He's said there will be 6 or 7 -- I hope he continues to write installments until he's 80 -- even at a dollar a page!

Summary: Dark Tower Series
Review: I am not a Stephen King fan. Although he is an excellent writer, his books generally give me the creeps, and I won't read them. However, the Dark Tower Series is different. I have read all four of these books and found them fascinating. I would highly recommend to anyone the reading of this series. It is truly some of his best work, and I hope that he will continue to add to this series.

Summary: A true adventure and a true hero
Review: The Gunslinger series are the best "series" of books I have ever read. I first found Roland and his friends while driving truck 48 States Canada And Mexico. I soon bought the entire set in Audio Book. Not only is it a great story the reader of the audio book (unabriged) made it feel like you Where in the story. I actually had to pull over a few times to listen to certain parts cause you where drawn in with the suspence. Great books. One thing many don't know about the stories though is If you read Hearts In Atlantis it incorperates the Gunslinger in to that book. So tell me Mr.King was that a hint a new one is almost here??? Summary: King's best.
Review: I used to love King's horror as a child, but got sick of him around Gerald's Game. Most of the stuff I'd read I regarded as fluff, no substance. Except The Gunslinger. I could not escape the power of Roland of Gilead and his quest. All the books have their high points, with the original being at the top of my list. I hold King with a grain of salt, but these and Different Seasons still capture for me what literature is all about.

Summary: Much better than "The Gunslinger"
Review: I felt the first book of "The Dark Tower" series "The Gunslinger" was ok, but this book, "The Drawing of Three" was much better. Even though this book still does not answer much about Rolands quest for the Dark Tower it was a fun and exciting read. The way King describes each passage through the doorway was wonderful. The different characters were exciting, I especially liked Eddie Bean. There were a few good surprises in this book between the main characters, which was very well done. This book is enough for me to continue reading the series and to see what is in store Roland as his quest continues.
