Rating: Summary: Beware All Ye Mortals Review: I liked this book. It was very, very frightening. Read and Believe
Rating: Summary: Okay-ish King version on the whole vampire genre Review: What is everybody raving about? OK, so it builds up to a nice scary climax towards the end, but it's much too slow to start, and the beginning dictates which of the characters survive (why does Stephen King always DO that?), and even at its best it doesn't come close to the heights of his later stuff. Like all King's early novels, there's nothing new in it, and for anyone who's read anything later I'd say skip this one and stick to the more recent stuff. (Also a nice UK-friendly message in that the only British character to ever appear in one of King's novels is the chief vampire in this one!)
Rating: Summary: SCARYSCARYSCARYSCARYSCARY!!!!!!!!!!! Review: What can I say, this is the scariest book I think I've ever read - and I've read a lot of Stephen King novels. I was afraid to look out my window at night, the images King creates are amazingly vivid (and horrific). For the first time in a long time a was drawn straight into the book, I couldn't put in down. I thought the ending left itself a little open, perhaps there will be a Salems' Lot II. It is not a King masterpiece in the way It and The Stand are, however it is a potent, scary book that cannot be put down easily.
Rating: Summary: A masterpiece...one of the few truly scary books I've read. Review: 'salem's Lot is an achievment in scaring the s*** out of people. up until this novel I had never been truly scared by a novel. This changed all that...i was afraid to look out the window at night... King's early works are much better than his new stuff... (ie The Stand, Dead Zone, and Carrie)
Rating: Summary: DON'T READ WHILE ALONE Review: I read this book about 4 years ago, & it still remains one of the scariest I've ever read. I don't know if I can read it again. I actually looked at it last night for a glimpse of the scary parts & I still got goosebumps. I just finished reading the comments that other people had written about this book. To those who said this book was boring I think you're all crazy & must have had a near death experience to not think this book was in the least a tad frightening. And definitely the book was better than the movie.
Rating: Summary: For reading in well-lit room only!!! Review: 'SALEM'S LOT is one of King's best books. It is the second novel he wrote in his writing career. I loved the way everything seemed to fit together so perfectly. This King classic is so scary, I found myself turning on all the lights in the house after some reading sessions. I also found myself looking around corners before going into another room. Read 'SALEM'S LOT!!!!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: It took a while for the story to get good. Actually, a large portion of the book was quite boring (to me), but as it closes to the ending, it got REALLY good. The idea of the population of Juresalem's Lot decreasing day by day creeped me. I could imagine the town getting more and more deserted, spreading like a disease. Truly an enjoyable read, and certainly worth it.
Rating: Summary: Salem's Lot is a masterpiece! Review: Salem's Lot is a wonderfully scary book about the things you feared as a child, that returned after your mother shut the door, the ones that cracked the closet door just enough to see you. King is masterful at detailing every character, as so you can relate to them, then killing off a few just to show that the hero doesn't always win. The vampires are truly scary and will have you looking around you just to make sure it's all in the book. Salem's Lot is a great book that all King fans will love.
Rating: Summary: this really sucked , and I'm not talking about vampires Review: I saw this movie , and it was horrible. I saw the book sitting in my mother's room so I decided to read it to see if it was better than the movie ( because usually King's books are better than the movie) I got through this in a quick read and it really sucked , begining to end. Just like the movie... Avoid This King FANS
Rating: Summary: Good Review: The beginning drew me in. But, sad to say, it didn't draw me in to the end. But it was good. It had details of characters and seemed real.
