Summary: Too long................
Review: The book itself is not too long, however the descriptions are too long and unnecessary, occupying at least one third of the book, and in that way the facts go slower then they actually go. I do not find it scary, although I may say it is interesting in some way, having in mind it is a work of fantasy world. Well the pages in which the gravedigger was working on the boy's grave and later he died during his stay at home of the schoolteacher plus questionings following the death somehow excited and made the book partly a page turner, although , reviewed as a whole, it was not. Nevertheless, depending on what sort one enjoys reading , it might be pretty a must read or a boring staff, whilst the writing skills of the author is undeniable. Compared to other books by King, however, it lacks some movement.

Summary: A Must Read - Definite Scare!
Review: I never thought that it would be possible for a book to scare me but 'Salem's Lot won the award! (I dare not rent the movie!) Once again, King makes characters come to life with vivid descriptions of the emotions that the characters go through. 'Salem's Lot is about a town whose members start to disappear one by one. Most are unsure why, although a few select characters such as Ben, Mark, Jimmy Cody and Father Callahan know why - VAMPIRES have come into the small, quiet town and are hungry for blood! "Whatever you do, do not look into their eyes - that is how they get you". I do not want to give anything away so I won't say too much. The book kept my interest all the way through, wondering who would be the next victim. It is written through the narravtive of many different characters, so at times you may have to look back and refresh your memory as to who the character was. It is definitely worth it. I also believe this is one of the first books King has written, so if you are new to "King's world" this book is great to start with. If you are a King fan then you will definitely appreciate 'Salem's Lot!

Summary: VAMPIRES, COFFINS AND BATS "OH MY! "
Review: Yeah, instead of walking down the yellow brick road, picture walking down a lonely wooded area in the middle of the night (or afternoon just as it's getting close to sun down) and you feel your not alone. Well, after reading this King book that's exactly how I felt for a week or so. Spooky, is not the word. I don't know why it took me this long to read it. I guess it was because a TV movie had been made back in the 70's and I just didn't want to read the book afterwards. It was worth the wait. I loved this book and if your a King fan, you will too. How does this man sleep at nights? I know I keep a cross close at hand these days just in case. Want to test how brave you are? Read this one and find out.

Summary: 'salem's Lot is awesome
Review: I think that 'salem's Lot is an extremely good book. It is about an author who returns to his childhood town to write a book. Around the same time, a mysterious person buys the house in which the author, Ben Mears, had a terribly frightening experience. During his visit, many scary things happen. He begins to suspect strange goings on involving the new owner of the "haunted house." Him and some of the townspeople find that there are vampires in the town and that they have to fight in order to survive a fate worse than death. I would recommend 'salem's Lot to any Stephen King reader.

Summary: A happy reader from Maine
Review: This was my first Stephen King book, and I must say I was not disappointed (since December I have read six other books!) When I first approached the idea of reading a ~Stephen King Book~ (oh all that red tape!) I was wondering how I would take to his style of writing, also I just picked this book because I had heard of it before, and not knowing anything more than it was a "vampire story". I think it may not be the best book to read as a beginner for a lot of people, but it got me hooked! (I go out and buy another novel once a week!) Too bad critics can't get past the idea the Stephen King=mediocrity and actually read a book without a predecided review in their heads. Didn't Nathaniel Hawthorne have the same problem when his books were first published? All I can hope is that some day these books will be rediscovered as the great pieces (I'm not saying they're classic or anything) of literature they are!

Summary: The best King book!
Review: I have read about 20 of Kings book's so far and this one is the best, hands down. It has more action than some of his books and it's very scary. Just when you think you have figured out what will happen next, something totally unexpected does. If you are a King fan or just enjoy a good scare, read 'Salem's Lot!

Summary: A great horror story that rates up there with The Exorcist
Review: This book starts mysterious, then gets spooky and then horrific. Great modern day translation of the dracula story. Ranks with The Exorcist and Ghost Story as the scariest books written!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Pull the covers up around your neck!
Review: Of all the horror novels ever written, this is by far the best. The demonic child laughter and scratching at the window will haunt you on dark nights for many years to come.
