Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC! DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU KNOW KING OR NOT: READ IT!! Review: Our great master Stephen King shows his perfection again. This book is absolutely GREAT, i could barely wait for the next week when the continuation was gonna arrive. Again, King shows us another frightening book and continues with his tradition of NEVER write a bad book.
Rating: Summary: Try this again Review: Stephen King suffers from successful writer syndrome. Like many other popular writers, he believes that each successive book requires less editing, that everything he writes is Shakespeare. Thus we get long, boring books that cost a fortune. So what am I to make of the Green Mile? This page turner is written as a challenge, and Steve seems invigorated by it. The prose is mostly sharp, and the book is a quick breezy read. I liked it. You won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: The characters come alive on death row. Review: Only Stephen King can make you feel as though you're on death row. Take a trip down memory lane with the one of the old prison guards, as he chronicles life and death in and around "old sparky". Once again, Stephen King does a great job developing the charactors (including a mouse) on the green mile.
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC Review: As per usual King delivers again. I purchases each part as soon as it was released, read them immediately & then had to wait a month for the next instalment - but it was worth it. The characters are very interesting & the story kept me captivated. My palms were sweating whilst I was reading certain parts of the story. A great read for King fans.
Rating: Summary: I enjoyed it but it certainly isn't King's best.Rather dull. Review: This much-heralded serial thriller was a great deal less than it promised to be. An avid Stephen King fan, I couldn't wait to read the books, and even as I began to realize what a waste of time these books were compared to his other works, I still bought and read all six. They are an enjoyable read, but don't be surprised if you feel deprived of a good King experience.
Rating: Summary: Best book i've EVER read before, and i'm only 14. Review: I don't have no long thing to say. All i've got to say is that i've read alot of horror books, and this is defanitly the best book i've ever read. I'm not going to say anymore except, read it, and when you do look for Mr. Jingles, he's my favorite character even though he's a mouse. I named my stuffed dog after him.
Rating: Summary: highly recomended Review: The Green Mile by S. King,is one of the best books I have read in a while. It takes place in 1932 at Cold Mountain Penn., and is narrated decades later by a very lovable old man named Paul. This book is a mixture of murder, mystery, magic and of course horror. Every part of the six part novel was extremely surprising at every turn. Kings developed every character superbly by going in depth into every character, one can't help but feel as though he is actually there.
Rating: Summary: Very rarely books make me cry. This was one of them. Review: This book proved more than I hoped for, maybe more I could handle. I loved every single line. It was painful waiting for the next volume to arrive to Greece. I've read everything S.King has written, yet I wonder whether he could ever match this.
Rating: Summary: An extremely good serial thriller! Review: I have read many of Kings books, and when Part 1 of The Green Mile came out I buyed it, of course. And I loved it! I have always liked stories told in episodes, and this is the best I've read (I haven't read Dickens)! I think this is one of Kings best books! It was very hard to wait for each part to come out, and when it did I read it the same day it came out. Then I had to wait a whole month for the next part. In the meantime I thought about what would happen in the next part, but it never happened what I thought would happen! I have only one thing to say: READ IT!
Rating: Summary: I had to replace the set of books a friend "borrowed"... Review: I have been very picky about the King books I have read, and haven't liked all of those I have read. Now, with that said...this series was an incredible experience in reading! I was definitely intrigued by the way the books were marketed, coming out once a month for six months. My favorite author ever, (Dickens!) did that years ago...why not King? I was won over reading his foreward...standing right in the aisle, blocking the shampoo aisle where the books had been placed on an endcap. Interesting trick, since I probably wouldn't have picked up a King novel in the book section. Over the months I would figure out which of my local stores would get them in first. I needed my Green Mile fix. I would dream up scenarios for what would come next...and King never disapppointed. Surprising at every turn, deeply affecting characters and situations. I think it's in the top ten of books I have ever read. I think it couldn't be beat reading it one book at a time, like it was intended. But don't miss it, and read it all at once if you didn't read it that way first! Like Rose Madder, another King novel which moved me, I was drawn in. With Rose, I was admittedly a wee bit disappointed at the ending. The Green Mile, however, was rewarding to the last.
