Rating: Summary: Understandably FANTASTIC!!! Review: Stephen King's attempt at this series of books is truly superb...keeps you in suspense about the character Coffey until the very last book.
Rating: Summary: I love King's new approach. This book is truly great. Review: This book is different from any of King's others. It is not a horror tale, but it deals with miracles. I didn't know how it would be when I acquired the first book in the series. However, though it didn't involve horror, I was very impressed. This book more than earned its place in my library.
Rating: Summary: King is back with a vengeance! Review: Take it from an otherwise dissapointed reader: With "The Green Mile", King has restored my faith in his ability to tell truly original and mind-boggling tales. Strong narrative, a tight story and Kings most memorable character yet, makes this a pure delight and an all-night read. It shows that even after six years of mediocre writing it is possible to come back on top. The story concerns a condemned black man named Coffey who is given the death sentence for the killing of two little girls. However, things are not what they seem, and Coffey's prison guard takes it upon himself to solve the mystery. Strange events begin to take place on death row and the guard finds himself on the borderline of reality and the fantastic. This book has the plot originality of "The Shawshank Redemption" and the pairing of two characters as strong as those in Steinbeck's classic "Of Mice and Men". To those of you who got tired of mr. King when "Insomnia&quo! ! t; hit the stands, promise me to read this book. You will not be dissapointed!!
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: This was a great book. It wasnt a great epic like The Stand, but it was an interesting novel. By the end of the book, I was feeling very bad for John Coffey. I recently heard that The Green Mile will be made into a movie and that Tom Hanks will play the lead character. If this is true, then that will be an awesome movie.
Rating: Summary: As usual, Stephen King kept me on the edge of my chair. Review: I read this story, one book at a time, and couldn't hardly wait for the next volume. I laughed, I got the chills and even got mad, but I totally enjoyed every word! Bravo~Stephen King~
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC!BRILLIANT! Review: EVERY IN THIS BOOK IS FANTASTIC.THE WAY STEPHEN KING DECRIBES HIS CHARACTER IS BRILLIANT!ILIKAD MOUSE MR.JINGLES VERY MUCH,BUT THE SCARIEST CHARACTER IS THE MADJALE KEEPER WHO KILLED DELACROIX IN MOST TERRIBLE WAY!!
Rating: Summary: Chilling and highly entertaining Review: This is the first Stephen King novel I have ever read and I am did not come away disappointed. King's reputation for writing great books is well deserved. I just can't picture Tom Hanks in the movie version though.
Rating: Summary: Simply Great! Review: I think King rebounded with this books after such so-so works as Gerald's Game, Dolores Claiborne and Insomnia... After reading this, and the twin books of Desperation and Regulators, I started to buy old King classics again. Great job! (and the style was quite catchy)
Rating: Summary: An awesome story Review: Another touching tale that hits you right in the heart. Coffey is a character to remember, Delacroix is a character to laugh at, and Mr. Jingles is a character that will bring a smile to your face. But does "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption" ring a bell?
Rating: Summary: This book is not what you'd expect from Stephen King! Review: Since the mid 1970's, I've read almost every Steven King book that has come out...and to tell you the truth, this book is completely different. I knew that eventually this series would come out as a full size book, but I decided that I would rather enjoy buying the series, and boy, did I!!! I couldn't wait for each month to pass so I could buy the next installment, and the wait was worth it. Although if wasn't what I had come to expect from a Stephen King novel, I found out that it was just as good as his scarier books and I have recommended the series to many people.
