Rating: Summary: Solid King Review: The Green Mile catches King in great form. Prison seems to bring out the best in King(?)and this book is no exception. Well-drawn characters, an excellent plot and some good King surprises make for a fun read. Only the predictability of many events lessens the impact, if you have read King you generally know where he's going. A welcome addition to the King collection.
Rating: Summary: "one of the best books I've ever read" Review: A very good book in which Stephen King shows an ellement of surprise at every turn.
Rating: Summary: soon to be a movie! Review: Although I read this book (these books) some time ago now, I recently heard that the book was being made into a movie starring none other than Tom Hanks. I thoroughly enjoyed the novels finding them to be a leap above some of King's previous works (insomnia, the tommy knockers)and hope the movie does justice to the writing. If you enjoyed the Green Mile, try Bag of Bones!
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully surprising! Review: How about that?! Stephen King has actually made me read a book of his in two days flat, again! After such a long time, too! I remember the last time I did that was with "Gerald's Game", because after that one what he wrote wasn't entirely very good, sorry to say. This is a really great book in that it is more thoughtful King writing. There's a bit of everything, and King also shows that besides having the ability of turning stomachs ("Pet Sematary") he has the ability to relate to the reader and tug at their heartstrings successfully. Well done Mr. King!
Rating: Summary: A great series that could be finished in less than a week! Review: I could never put each book down. I waited impatiently for the next book of the series to be brought out! It is such a great series that can be passed to friends. Very suspenseful! King, are you going to make another series just like this?
Rating: Summary: Makes you think in more ways than one, good overall. Review: This book made me think about the things people could do if they were able to use their entire brain. I think Coffey had an ability to use the other 90% of his brain. I have heard theories in which people feel that if that were possible, people would be capable of limb regeneration, etc. This book is about life on death row during the depression, but I feel King uses that setting because it symbalizes the mind being caged. I'm sure everyone gets a different spin from this book, but it opens your mind to new possibilties. I recommend this to people with open minds.
Rating: Summary: Once you pick it up, you can never put it down. Review: Stephen King has wrote the ultimate entertainment enjoyment in the Green Mile. It is non-stop reading from the beginning to the end!
Rating: Summary: Better than the typical King novel. Review: There are no rabid dogs or possesed clowns in this story. Stephen King takes it to a whole new level with "The Green Mile." This time, he actually makes us think more than he makes us bite our nails. "The Green Mile" tells the tale of a Death Row inmate whose very presence alters the way of life for the guards and other inmates. Coffey (the inmate) forms a bond with a guard on the green mile which lasts far beyond the pages of the sixth part.
Rating: Summary: Good Review: These books were not what I would call smashing, raging, magnifisent, but they were were still ok. If you like disgusting stuff then you would fall head over heels for this book, but if you are a bit queezy you might disgust yourself.
Rating: Summary: A masterpiece, pure and simple Review: This is King's most human story since "The Shawshank Redemtion", and convinces me that he should do more stories with a prison setting. Each part will keep one begging for more, and I was deeply sad to be finished with the series. Every character pops out off the page with great visual and dynamic impact. After seeing Tom Hanks in "Saving Private Ryan" and Frank Darabont's film version of "The Shawshank Redemtion", I feel very certaing that justice will be done for Paul Edgecombe, John Coffey, and all the other wonderful characters.
