Rating: Summary: Very good entertainment! Review: While I would not rate The Green Mile as the greatest work of fiction ever, it is a very good book and highly entertaining. Mr. King helps you to develop emotions (good and bad) for most of the major characters involved in the story, which is always a nice touch. There some parts of the book that you really have to work your way uphill, but those parts are few and always serve a purpose.
Rating: Summary: Most moving Stephen King I have ever read! Review: Out of all the books I have ever read by Mr. King, short and long, this is the most heart breaking, most moving, and most emotional yet. I have never cried at the end of a novel, but I must admit, this was a tear jerker. Through his wonderful story telling and great details you are able to actually feel like you are there, get to know everyone personally (even build your own emotions of them), even become attached to Mr. Jingles, the mouse. This is a must read for everyone who loves horror, realism, suspence, and a good tear jerker.
Rating: Summary: Stephen Kings heartwarming side Review: The Green Mile is one of my favorite books Stephen King wrote. This book touched me deeply, and molded me into a better person. Very wordy and well written, Stephen King brought tears to my eyes. The only drawback is that it wasn't much of a horror novel, but that didn't matter once you started reading it. GREAT!!
Rating: Summary: The Green Mile deserves more than 5 stars! Review: Words can not describe how I felt during the reading of The Green Mile. It is an absolute masterpiece by the king of horror. All of my emotions were in termoil during Paul Edgecombe's story. The charcters are unforgettable, I truely adored Mr. Jingles. I can't remember a time when I cried so much at the end of a novel. My sincere thanks and appreciation to you, Mr. King, for an amazing heartfelt story. You are truely a gifted writer.
Rating: Summary: Very slow reading until the end Review: This was my least favorite of all King's books. I fought thru the book for a month and then couldn't put it down for the last 100 pages. The beginning and middle was very slow reading and the story bordered on silly almost. It seems that King was taking a "break" from his usual scary, grabbing intense stories with a more mild story. Good for people who don't like the "normal" Stephen King but didn't interest me who would rather re-read Salems Lot and Carrie over and over...
Rating: Summary: The most emotional reading experience I've ever had Review: I read the Green Mile in Late March of this year. I've been a Stephen King fan for many years and any chance to read a new book by the man is a wonderfu experience. I had just completed Bag of Bones and relly enjoyed it ut I knew from the verey first page that The Gren Mile would be different. At this point i time I was a college student just avbout to finish up my under graduate work. The school work was pling up and fresh off a three year relationship, I fpound myself alone and in a state of dissaray. The Green Milw captured my imagination like noKing book before it. I found myself reading faster and faster craving any and all of the plot twists in the book. This novel really brings out the intellifgence and story telling ability of this culture's best known author. This was and probably alwayts will be the only book that made me cy at the end . I love a book that draws me in and makes me feel a kind of kinshp with the characters within the story. By the time I was finished eading, I was emotionally spent and extreemly satisfied. I feel as Iam a better person for having read this particular work. Nort many books do that for me. I just wanted to share the great experience and joy I had eading this book. thank you
Rating: Summary: I was completely proven wrong Review: I had never bothered reading King before because I knew he was an horror writer and immediatly assumed that that didn't make him a good writer. Boy, did he prove me wrong. I was INCREDIBLY impressed with this book, I absoulutly loved it and I was amazed and how good this guy can write! It was a welcome surprise, and I have already picked up "Bag of Bones" to see if he lives up to my current impression.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book! Review: Wow! Read this book. The deatils are amazing. The plot is great!!
Rating: Summary: THE GREEN MILE Left My Emotions BLACK & BLUE!!! Review: From the first page to the last, Mr. King had my emotions in an upheaval. From Paul Edgecombe to Melinda Moores, all the people became part of my life--and not just for the duration of the book, but forever. I first read the book a year or so ago before it came out as a complete novel. And even to this day, when I pass by my bookshelf and see THE GREEN MILE sitting there, my feelings for the characters come back to me full-force--the awe and wonder of John Coffey, the hatred for Percy Wetmore, the respect for Paul, etc. I own more than 30 Stephen King books (98% of them hardcover) and I must say that this ranks at the top of my list--not just of Mr. King's books, but of all the books I've read in my lifetime, which is a considerable amount. THE GREEN MILE made me laugh, made me cry, made me angry, and broke my heart. Thank you Mr. King.
Rating: Summary: THE RIDE OF YOUR LIFE!!!!!!!! Review: My best friend and I spent the summer of 1996 walking the Green Mile and it was the best ride of our lives. I would not be exaggerating if I said that this is the best book that Stephen King has ever written and one of the best books that I've ever read. Every month I waited for the next chapter to be released and each time I was not disspointed. The story is totally gripping and the characters come into your life and take over your heart. It takes you on an emotional roller coaster of happiness, suspense, anger, grief. You experience it all when you walk the mile. It changed my mind about death row. I used to think the stinking murderers deserved it but I can't think that now when I imagine what it must be like waiting to die. And it's not just about being in a cell, it's about terminal illness, ageing all the different situations that put a person on "death row" even though they haven't committed a crime. Stephen King is truly a gifted story teller who moves you like no one else can. For the read of your life you've got to pick up the Green Mile. And read it with a friend, it's definitely a journey that should be shared with someone else.
