Rating: Summary: non stop page turner Review: I loved this book. It was one of those books that you just have to know what happens next. I am totally pumped to see the movie.
Rating: Summary: Stunning! Review: I have never been interested in Steven King. The only reason I picked up the book was because I saw the movie preview. I almost put it down when I saw who wrote it. Just goes to show about never judging a book by its author... cover.. whatever. This book touched me in a way I can never describe. It explains feelings and thoughts in a way no author has been able to before. It has confirmed me in my faith by reminding me that small inexplicable random acts of God make an immeasurable impact on others. No matter who thinks they have control of a situation, He is in charge. I heavily reccomend this book to everyone - believers and non-believers.
Rating: Summary: A novel that gives you more than just a plot, but insight. Review: I have trouble reading quickly, and this usually keeps me from reading any novels that can't really get my undivided attention. The Green Mile did just this. I read the entire book in one day...probably the most I've ever read in one sitting in my life. If you don't want a book with your typical "monsters", but rather a different kind of tale, this book is for you. King has the ability to make you care about characters--you really do feel like you know them. I think this stems from his ability to create characters that do, feel, and think things that we all feel. If you pay attention, you not only learn about the story, but about yourself. You find that King points out things that we usually don't realize about the way we feel, and his writing brings out a conciousness within ourselves that may leave you questioning the forces that drive your life, and not just the lives of his characters. I think this is a great story...one of the best I have ever read. I also feel, however, that it goes deeper than just the plot of the novel, somehow into the minds of us all. Pay attention, and you could get a lot more out of this book than just a story that will leave you sitting silently, with a screaming mind.
Rating: Summary: Pure Magic! Review: This was the first Stephen King book I have read and I can honestly say that it was one of the best. The story of John Coffey was absolutely heartbreaking, and made it hard for me to put the book down. I am now a Stephen King fan.
Rating: Summary: The Green mile is an excellent book. Review: In the green mile Stephen King is great at making that bond between readers and characters. You feel as thought you know Paul who is telling the story, and feel bad for the injustice towards the "little frenchman" and coffee. You love to hate percy. I loved getting attached, almost as much as I loved reading the book, I didn't ever want to put it down, and once I did, when it was over, I almost wanted to flip back to the front cover and start it over, I was actually sad it had to end.
Rating: Summary: Another Masterpiece Review: I felt like I was alive and experiencing the story, as if I were a witness to all of this and at times I found my breathing alot heavier during Delacriox and Coffey's executions. I can't wait to read more of King's works.
Rating: Summary: definitely worth reading! Review: This is one of the best books written by Stephen King. The Green Mile is worth reading , Once I started reading it I couldn't put this fine piece of literature down. This is definitely a classic , and I highly recommend this book !
Rating: Summary: This is the best book Stephen King has written to date. Review: I was very much against the serial style this book was written and published. I felt it was just a money grab by the publishers. After reading the book, I still felt the same about the publishers but absolutely loved this book! I felt it had such a poignant story to tell, I re-read the book again with my 12 year old son. I only hope the upcoming movie can do it justice. No it is not "horror" in the classical sense and anyone looking for that will be extremely disappointed. Mr. King instead chose to write about the "horror" of man's inhumanity to men. Mr. King has grown over the years as a writer with much feeling and sensitivity. Anyone one who has read this book on my recommendation has told me how much they enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who can enjoy a great story that will touch your heart as well.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Story Weaving Review: I just finished this book and I think it was fabulous. Thank you Stephen King for such wonderful and real charachters who you weaved into a terrific story. I am unable to start reading a new book yet because I want my mind to savor the Grean Mile.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful story! Review: This is another of Stephen King's outstanding stories that have nothing to do with horror - other than the man made kind. I am a avid reader but rarely does a book move me to tears as this one did. I am so glad they published it all in one book. The serial format was unique but it was also what kept me from reading it years ago. King is a master storyteller!
