Summary: Shockingly good!
Review: The Green Mile is a great work of American literature, on par with The Catcher in the Rye. It is a true masterpeice in many ways. I have read many King books, and this is the best so far (even better than the incredible Carrie).

I feel that Stephen King deserves to be taken seriously as more than just a popular writer, but as an author of literary significance.

The characters and emotions in this book are so strong that it is impossible to stop thinking about it while you are in the process of reading it. I took about a week to read it, and I enjoyed every minute that I invested.

Incredible!

Summary: Small Book - Epic Proportions!
Review: King has done it again! This time his magic has been woven through characters on death row-either the inmates or their keepers! The green mile refers to the stretch of linoleum leading to the electric chair. A mystical experience brought on by a giant black man waiting to die for a crime he didn't commit, has a lasting affect on a guard who believes this gentle giant couldn't harm anyone! But this takes place in the 30's in the South when racial divisions were at their height. When the reading gets too intense, a mouse is introduced who humanizes everyone bringing out the best and worst in the men caught up in this drama. You will experience many emotions as you read what is perhaps the best thing Steven King has ever written!

Summary: Moving Story
Review: This is an incredible story. The writing is seamless; the characters are some of his best ever. King is king!

Summary: Essential King.
Review: Some folks just don't get it. Whenever King comes out with a great book that doesn't have ghouls and goblins, they begin to complain "what a lousy book, not scary at all. " Different Season is one of those books, Misery is one those books and Green Mile is one of those books. Yes, some parts of the Green Mile are bit melodramatic but nevertheless the Green Miles is one of King's essential works. The story is about a wrongfully accused blackman, a cute rat, Mr. Sparky the electric chair and pure human spirit. Mr. King showcases his best.

Summary: King just keeps getting better
Review: An epic tale of good and evil, guilt and innocence, and trust and betrayal. The Green Mile has the relentless pace and stunning power of a war novel like The Triumph and the Glory or The Thin Red Line, the psychological tension of Hannibal, the visual imagery of the Harry Potter books, and the stark horror that only a novelist of Stephen King's talent can deliver. In other words, IT HAS EVERYTHING. And more.

Summary: Not sure what to think.
Review: I thought that this book was a good book to read once. It is not something that I could read again and again. Stephen King is an awesome writer, but some of his stories are harder to follow than others. This was one that I could not get into. It think that it is so interesting the way that he can make you feel like you are actually part of the story sometimes. He describes things in so much detail that is seems like it is really hapening while you are reading. It is so hard to think that people were really treated that way. They used to line up the others on death row and make them watch others die in the chair so they knew what it was going to be like when it was there turn. The hardest part to read was when he told about the lady who was waiting her turn to go to the chair. She was a mother of two and was in an abusive realationship. She got sick of it and killed him and now she has to die because she finally fought back. I do not know who I could recomend this book to. Not everyone. I personally would not read it again. Good luck to those who do! Keep an open mind.

Summary: One of King's best.
Review: In the Green Mile King has a book that is both gripping and dramatic. It really isn't all that scary and has a few pretty big surprises. I don't want to give anything else away so I'll shut up.

P.S. Can't wait for the movie!

Summary: One of the best books EVER!
Review: I read the novel in a couple days, the complete one, whith all the series together. It was a page turner. I loved it so much. If you liked "The Shawshank Redepmtion" this is just as good. And the movie is coming out soon too starring Tom Hanks and Gary Sinise. I can't wait to see it. But I'm sure the book is better so...READ THE BOOK. YOU'LL LOVE IT!

Summary: the green mile
Review: This story is typical King excellence. The movie is to be released on 12/10/99 and is sure to be worth watching. The portrayal of of the death row and the various characters I believe is King's best work since "THE STAND>"

Summary: One would be hardpressed to find a book as enjoyable as this
Review: The movie "The Shawshank Redemption" has one of the most compelling stories of all time. Great characters, gripping plot, a heartfelt emotion make it an experience like no other. Now, there is another king (no pun intended) in town. The Green Mile, with its cast of well-fleshed and intriguing characters (John Coffey, Delacroix, and even Mr. Jingles the mouse) and emotion thicker than pea soup make this a great book already. But where this book truly shines is its plot; engaging, well-crafted, intriguing, thought-provoking, riveting, you name it, this plot has it. Considering that Stephen King didn't know how it would end when he began writing it, this an astonishing feat. This is the best book I have ever read, and I recommend it to anyone.
