Rating: Summary: One of Stephen King's best Review: I once heard someone say that Harold Robbins was the greatest story teller, but Stephen King has to be better. The paranormal is quite subtle and low key in this book compared to some of his other books, but this is when I believe he is at his best... when he is telling a good story. "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption", "The Body" and a "Bag of Bones" rate alongside this as unputdownable. Great Stuff.
Rating: Summary: Could Not Put it Down! Review: I am not normally a big Stephen King fan but this was reccomended so I decided to give it a shot. I cannot remember the last time I read a book that I was so completely absorbed in that I had to force myself to stop reading to perform my normal functions. I envy those of you who have not yet read this book. A great read!
Rating: Summary: Didn't think this novel was my cup of tea at first... Review: ...but I ended up reading the whole series in one sitting. My second favorite Stephen King book (after Salem's Lot). Very engrossing...I'm just glad I had access to all the books instead of having to wait for them to come out one by one.
Rating: Summary: Out of this World Review: King has done it again. There is nothing ordinary about THE GREEN MILE and you won't put it down till the last breathless pages. In a cold and lifeless place, Paul is the only Officer who can "see" what convicted child killer John Coffey sees. His fellow guards trust and respect Paul, but know that their jobs are at stake if they give in to emotions. The electric chair is the final seat for once hardened (but some now softened) criminals, and it's all but impossible to keep your wits about you in a cell block filled with sadistic officers like Percy and psychopathic killers like Wild Bill. But Paul will make you see things differently, like J.C. (Jesus Christ perhaps? ) sees them. Nothing will look the same to you again.
Rating: Summary: ONE OF HIS BEST Review: I CAN'T BEGIN TO SAY HOW MUCH I LIKED THIS BOOK. I BEGAN READING STEPHEN KING'S BOOKS WHEN HE FIRST APPEARED ON THE MARKET. THIS IS ONE OF HIS BEST BY FAR. HE DIDN'T GET TOO WAY OUT SCI-FI WITH THIS ONE. SUPERNATURAL WITHOUT SCI -FI IS THE BEST HE WRITES.
Rating: Summary: Very good Review: This was one of Stephen King's best books. I could hardly put it down. It is a sad book, but it is defenetely worth it. Other books that are recomended are It and Bag of Bones.
Rating: Summary: Man this is a great book.. Review: I'm a 17 year old guy and i chose to read this book in a project for school and had to do a book report on it. And i'm happy to say that this book wasnt a let down and the story was well written. This was the first book i had ever read by king because im not really a horror fan and i thought that was all he wrote but once i started reading this novel i could barely put it down. i guess you must be thinking, he's 17 he mustn't(dont think that's a word) know anything or something which is probably true but this novel is a great novel and i would recommend it to anyone who wants to get a good story and not some stupid horror novel (i'm sure his horror novels are good i'm just not a fan of horror) The characters are so believeable and i dont want to say anything about what happens but the execution of Delecroix(maybe spelled wrong) was kind of gruesome(spelled wrong?) but that was about the only part in the novel where there was any of kings horror type writing showing through. There were two characters that you really want to hate Percy Wetmore and Brad Dolan(i think that was his name i'm doing this from memory) Now that i've read the book i think i'm going to go see the movie cause it looks good too but this is a book review not a movie so... anyways i guess that's my 2 cents worth.. -bj
Rating: Summary: Haven't read the book, watched the movie. Review: I haven't yet read the book, but I am very anxious to read it since I saw the movie recently. It was great! But, please DON'T GIVE AWAY the ending to those who have not yet watched the movie or read the book. It really can ruin a wonderful movie. The movie was very emotional so I cannot wait to start reading the book. I was never a Stephen King fan but I am very impressed by this piece of work.
Rating: Summary: 5 Stars isn't enough! Review: I just finished reading this two days ago, and I was absolutely wowed. I have never been a big Stephen King fan, and I never thought I would live to see the day I would actually enjoy one of his books. This was quite an exception! I just couldn't put it down--the story is GREAT and the characters are so easy to love (or hate, depending on who we're speaking about). I laughed and cried through the whole book. My only regret is that I didn't read The Green Mile before I saw the movie--knowing the plot and the ending really took away from the suspense of the book!
Rating: Summary: Another well done Stephen King prison story Review: I was hesitant about reading "The Green Mile" at first, since I was bored with King and I didn't want to read a story written in parts. I'm happy to say I was wrong in my apprehension. The Green Mile reminded me of Shawshank, since the characters were believable and likable (or hatable in Percy's case), the story moved right along and the ending was emotional. Glad I read the book, glad I saw the movie.
