Summary: Wonderful story, wonderful charachters - everything is great
Review: This is certainly a must-read for all readers. It's suspense keeps you going if you like that, the meaning and feeling of the narrator and his descriptions and beleifs if that's your style, and the wonderful layout of the book if that's what you favor. It's not some horror novel, rather a true novel. It's plot is remarkable - the sense of wonder that's shown through the large John Coffey - and it's feeling behind it is truly amazing. Not being an avid King reader, I would have to say this book is wonderful, fitting a lot of genres that make it a good read for everyone. As well as a fast read. I was going fast through each page to keep up with the awesome story. I would certainly recommend it for anyone. I think everyone can relate - I'm certain I can see a little John Coffey in some people and Percy Wetmore in others. It is simply a good book, like I know I have mentioned before. The only problem I had was that I saw the movie before the book, which I'm sure took some of the excitement and surprise away. I would suggest you do the opposite of me. Still, the book left me feeling just like I did during the movie.

Summary: What a great story...
Review: I won't rehash the plot in this review. The movie trailers and the other reviewers have already told you what this book is about if you haven't read it yet. What it truly is is a wonderfully spun story with rich characters and a touch of magic (or spirit or the supernatural- choose your term). This book had me in tears, laughing in delight, cheering for the good guys and having visceral reactions to the bad guys. In many ways, it's a great American novel. Bravo, Mr. King. Skip the movie (not bad but...)and read the book. You'll be hard pressed to disagree that it's a new American classic.

Review: FIRST, THE FACTSWhen over 330 people have taken the trouble to review a book, it is obvious the book was enjoyed and highly rated. What could I possibly write that is any different than what everyone else has said already? (pertaining to those that rated it highly) Isn't the movie (which was also hugely endorsed) and the author alone enough to convince anyone to read this incredible story? The facts speak for themselves. It is a remarkable book and movie. I will simply speak for myself and how the story affected me. I am a nurse and I work in a prison so there was that attraction for me to notice the book's plot. Being a relative new comer to the books of Mr. King, I truly felt enchanted by this one. My parents, who I refer all my favorite novels, will be sent this book as it is not the typical gory horror story one may assume of Mr. King. (They are reluctant to read most of his.) And that, I wish to emphasize, is the beauty of this book. It is a beautiful tale with a twist of magic and faith. I am not going to write about the plot, there are many wonderful reviews going into that. If I can express to you my experience of reading this novel, I would tell you that I could not stop reading it, I felt very involved with the characters and moved to tears several times. Mr. King truly captured the intensity of someone caught in the middle of lies and truth, and weaves this incredible story of faith and love to tie it all together. Back to the facts, and it is simple, this is a perfect novel.

Summary: If I could, I would've rated it 6 stars!!!
Review: This is not the first book I've read by Stephen King but I think it is the one I've liked the most. I got the six novellas when they were first published in 96 but read them all in the last 6 days. I'm glad I did it that way, I would've died in desperation trying to find out what had happened after I finished each. The way the story develops is wonderful, from Mr. Jingles visits (He is cute!) to the end. The characters I liked most were John Coffey and Brutal and of course Mr. Jingles! It is a hard-to-stop-reading novel, full of the love and hate that coexist in the world. Delacroix is the perfect mixture of both. Over all I think the story is very touching and I couldn't help myself and cried at some parts. If you haven't read this novel, what are you waiting? I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Summary: The Green Mile
Review: The Green Mile is about a large black man, John Coffey, acussed of murdering two little blonde headed twins. He was found with them, and he said "I couldn't take it back, it was too late. I tried, but I couldn't take it back." He is put on death row with several other men. Slowy the prison guards start to realize John didn't kill they girls. On the mile many things happen. Like a prison guard named Percy screws up an electracuton purposly. He fries a little french men. This book is awesome, and so is the movie.The book is better than the movie. I cried at the end. Stephen King did a great job of portraying the pain and suffering on the mile. I recomend this bok to everyone, because it has a little bit of everything in it.

Summary: A truly moving story all told in six little books!
Review: It's simply a NOVEL idea for Stephen King to build up on the great suspense by installing one piece after another into six separate parts (no pun intended!) And I really caught up on this little scheme by rushing right out to buy a book and then really squirm around until the very next one comes right out the following month! Or, you can buy the whole thing in a single book - with a considerate lowering of the great thrill of foreshadowing events, of course. Paul Edgecombe, the aging ex-guard shrewdly spins out a fabulous tale of meeting John Coffey, a hulking African-American supergiant who had been arrested for the brutal deaths of little twin sisters and thus sentenced to sit on the "Ol' Sparky". It all took place in 1932, when capital punishment was more widely accepted at the time. At first, it looked for all the world like Coffey really deserved it - but as time passed by, Edgecombe began to have serious doubts about it because of Coffey's very childlike innocence and truly amazing talents that he seemed to possess. Entering the whole picture is a very clever little mouse that seemed to bring a bit of humanity into the bleak environment of the infamous Death Row. And after a whole series of real heart-stopping events, Paul Edgecombe soon found himself about to make some very DIFFICULT moves involving the poor baby-faced Coffey. A truly enthralling thriller streaked with a little fantasy, a good deal of tongue-in-cheek humor, and plenty of exciting and really scary adventures that will make you hold your breath until it's nice and safe enough to pass. With a little dash of Stephen King's age-old recipe of gruesome horrors thrown in, of course! One thing about the movie, though (I haven't seen it yet) - I thought of Paul Edgecombe as more of a rumpled, middle-aged cherub than the youthful-looking Tom Hanks in a very natty guard's uniform.

Review: Recently this book has been transformed to a movie. It does not reach the level of this magnificent book. I advise anyone who enjoyed the movie not to waste time and buy the book,you won't regret it. I've read this piece of work three times in the past,enjoying every time. Of course the first was the best,leaving me wondering about the events for hours. Anyone who would like to get to know Stephen king's stories, would act wisely by starting with this book.It's not too long,very interesting and well written.Expect a extraordinary ending that would not leave you indifferent. Final notice,I'd like too emphasis this book deals largely with the subject of the death penalty,tends to be very upsetting, so anyone that doesn't want to be dragged to this black hole should skip it.

Summary: Driven to tears
Review: I have read every book ever written by Stephen King. I own every movie ever made from his books. However, there has never been one that had me in tears. Of course, there have been quite a few that had me looking behind me in the dark. There were even a few that would not let me stay at home alone at night. But, never have there been tears until I read The Green Mile. John Coffey,Paul,Billy and even Percy were more realistic to me then the usual demons and strange occurrences in his other novels. I cried for the injustices and the need for John's help when he could have saved Paul's wife. I love you Stephen for all of the pleasure you have given me from the written word.

Summary: Stephen King at it's best
Review: One of Stephen King's best books ever. In The Green Mile, King gives by far his best narrative display. His writing his powerful, the characters well defined, his story is well built, you get surprised a lot of times. It is definetely a book to become a classic. The only thing that bothered me was that everytime you changed book, he would repeat the last five pages of the previous book. But this is understandable, as it was published in 6 booklets. I also liked the way he played in the two time zones, it was well written and surprisingly efficient. Contrary top his habits, King didn't get lost in long, not always up-to-the-point descriptions. It had a good rhythm and when you finish reading it you understand why the 6 booklets were on the New York Times bestsellers list at the same time.
