Summary: I wasn't that impressed with this book.
Review: This was the first Dean Koontz book that I read and I didn't think it was that good. Thank goodness that I read Dragon Tears immediately afterward because that got me hooked on Dean Koontz. My other favorites are Lightning and Tick Tock.

Summary: A good read for a quiet weekend.
Review: I had given up on DK more than a few books ago and was encouraged by a friend to read this one. I thought it was very average, entertaining yet easily forgotten. The best thing about reading it is I may not be so quick to dismiss his stories in the future.

Summary: BRILLIANT, WRENCHING, POETIC, DISTURBING...
Review: ...ARE THE WORDS THAT ONLY BEGIN TO DESCRIBE THIS SOLID THRILLER FROM THE BIG K, WHO I'D NEVER READ BEFORE. LIKE MISERY BY THE OTHER BIG K, LIKE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (CHYNNA SHEPHARD--C.S.--CLARICE STARLING--GET IT?) SOMEONE FORGOT TO TELL KOONTZ HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A HACK. THIS BOOK IS BRILLIANT IN THE WAY IT DEPOSITS YOU WITH NO BREATHER INTO THE WORLD OF THE PSYCHO, ARMED WITH ONLY AS MUCH INFO AS POOR CHYNNA HAS. I WORK ON A PSYCH UNIT AND CAN ASSURE YOU VESS'S WALK THE EARTH, DRIVE CARS, AND LIVE DOWN THE STREET FROM SOME OF US...AND JUST AS SURELY, THE ONLY VICTIMS WHO EVER TRULY RECOVER ARE THE CHYNNAS, WHO, TO BORROW A SINGER'S PHRASE, KICK AT THE DARKNESS TIL IT BLEEDS DAYLIGHT. DON'T DISMISS THIS AS A PULP FICTION, ITS CORE IS SOMETHING CLOSER TO POST-MODERN LITERATURE.

Summary: Superb!
Review: This Book is one of the best books i have ever read. SUPERB!!

Summary: AN AWESOME BOOK!!!
Review: To all those people that said Chyna's motives were weak and so was she you obviously haven't ever had a best friend! Personally I found this book the best out of all of Koontz's books, it had realistic characters and a realistic storyline instead of his usual non-existent stuff! An extremely good book, I definitely reccommend it! Can't wait for the movie!

Summary: BORING!
Review: I have not yet finished the book, but will, just because I bought it. I find the killer, Vess, to be highly self-indulgent, but interesting as there really are people out there like him. Chyna on the other hand is an IDIOT! And I find Koontz' writing to be dull, repetitious, over manipulated, wordy and tiresome. This is the first of his books I have read, disappointingly, and probably the last. The only reason I read as much as I have in such a short amount of time is because I found one only needs to read every other paragraph since he is so repetitive. Did I say he repeats himself? And rehashes everything ad infinitum. Go back to writing class, Dean.

Summary: One of Koontz's best novels
Review: "Intensity" lives up to its title...after a young woman survives a rampage by a madman, she goes and follows him to see where his next move leads to...one of the most gut-wrenching, extremely intense novels of the decade...Koontz creates a character who could be someone just like ourselves, and makes her out to be a strong and independent person...with internal struggles of her past, the character realizes what she must do to set things right, and bring justice to an innocent victim who this madman keeps locked up...Anyone who is a King or Koontz fan, this is a highly recommended book to pick up immediately...you will be surprised at how intense this novel really is...

Summary: Intensity is GRIPPINGLY intense
Review: I have always been a fan of Koontz' novels. Each book he writes has a very different feel to it, ranging from the believable to the impossible. With Intensity, I was expecting to find at least one impossible moment, but to my surprise, and HORROR, I found none. The way Koontz has brought Edgler Vess to life, while creating in his words an "intense" character, did not make him supernatural in any way. Just twisted and sick. By the time I finished the book (which took two days, btw), my heart was racing and my blood pounding, as I could only imagine what it would be like to have an Edgler living in my own neighborhood. All in all, I give the book a very solid 9.

Summary: awesome
Review: A truly harrowing tale. Mr. Koontz peotically laid before my eyes a terrifically suspenseful "what if" tale. Though it plays largely with chance and psycology these are also it's most provocatively chilling aspects. I loved Chyna's drive, intuition, courage, and most of all her compassion for the captive girl, Ariel. Chyna's emotional discoveries(epiphanies) and Vess' formidable mystique drove this book home, for me.

Summary: OFF THE CHARTS AT 15
Review: If you read this book start on a Friday, you'll need all weekend to read it because you won't be able to put it down! The almost horrifing way Koontz describes in the beginning where Chyna is recalling when her mom's boyfriend forced an elderly couple off the road into a ditch broke my heart but hooked me for good. The lack of super-natural beings added to the book. Intense? Of Course! Every second! This super suspense novel is one of Koontz best and I highly recommend it. Also look for the movie. It recently aired on Fox.
