Rating: Summary: Dont rate it based on the crappy "maded for TV" movie Review: The book was pretty exciting and a little different than some of his other works but the ending gets a little too far fetched and makes a seemingly real character, Vess, unreal. The TV movie sucked! If you saw it and made your decision based on that, think again. Same goes for Hideaway.
Rating: Summary: The most horrific book I have ever read. Review: In my opinion, this is Dean's best book. Once you start reading this novel it's hard to put down. A must read for your horror collection.
Rating: Summary: COULD WE PLEASE HAVE ONE IOTA OF INTELLIGENCE??? Review: A girl who gets back into the trailer of a serial killer after she watches him kill someone? Vess is a classic Dean Koontz villian, sick in the head, with wierd fetishes that are explored in too much detail. Agreed the first 150 pages were exciting, but after that, the plot becomes a tangled mess of improbabilities and outright farcical behavior. Disappointing and shallow overall.
Rating: Summary: An excellent page turner. Review: I am a big Dean Koontz fan and I truely believe that this is the best of his work. I had trouble putting the book down. Every page is as terrific as the next. I thought at first that this was going to be just another cheesy story where the girl is so stupid about making the correct decisions. However, I came to understand why she did the things she did because she could live in the past just so long. She finally had to deal with the situation. I think all of us would have done the same thing under the right conditions. Saving another human being is reason enough for anyone to go through the extremes the same as Chyna did. The scarry thing is that I read alot of True Crime books and there are people out there just like Vess. This is a story that can and probably has hit home with a lot of people. Two thumbs up for Mr. Dean Koontz.
Rating: Summary: Skip This Book Review: I am a huge Dean Koontz fan, however, I was terribly dissapointed with this novel. Koontz did not take the time to develop his characters effectively, rendering most of the character decisions made in the book silly and laughable. Was Mr. Koontz trying to beat a deadline???
Rating: Summary: Not your typical Koontz Review: For those of you who enjoy Koontz's novels but are very annoyed by his recurring cliches, this book is for you. It's nothing like Koontz's other books. The presumably American characters don't speak in heavy British dialects, and Edgler Foreman Vess is probably Koontz's LEAST effeminate villain yet. The ending, also, is GREAT, but the epilogue kind of ruins it. I remember thinking that Intensity would make a great movie, and it has been adapted for television (shudder), but made-for-tv movies are always horrible and Intensity was no different. Oh well. The book still stands as Koontz's least annoying novel. Which is really a lot better than it sounds.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down Review: I really enjoyed this book. I read it all in one day and could barely put it down even to go to the bathroom. DK sure knows how to keep the pace moving. I was so involved with the Chyna I could almost feel everything she felt. I really liked his villan. He did a good job of creating a guy with absolutely no consious without him seeming like a psychopath. He was so brutal, but smooth. At the end of the book, I felt sad that it was all over. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that likes a thrill.
Rating: Summary: I am a house wife with 2 young children but I simply Review: could not put this book down. I let the dishes pile up and the toilet grow mold during the 2 week time period it took me to finish this awe inspiring, masterful near great work. It's a good thing I have paper plates and I have taught my 3y.o. to care for the baby. Chyna's daring crusade to follow, Vess, a morally bankrupt pychotic waste of human flesh left me spell bound. Run--do not walk to the penny discount bin located on this web page. I never thought a penny for your thoughts would mean so much. This book really makes you think.
Rating: Summary: 1 Cent is still too much ! Review: I'd rather read my causeway outdoors than this book.
Rating: Summary: INTENSE! Review: This is the first DK book I've read, and it was great, kept me going and gone for two days. I've picked up DK books before and set them down thinking he was a wanna-be, following other-writer's-of-the-genre's lead. Wow, was I mistaken, it did have some tie-ins/similarities to Silence and others, but also had many very original ideas. I now gotta pick up those ones I that I set down years ago!
