Rating: Summary: Chyna Shepherd, untouched and alive Review: This being my first Koontz book, I enjoyed it very much. I was under the impression that all he wrote about was out of this world, sprits and such, but I find myself corrected. Everything that happens in this book *could* happen in reaality, and that makes it not only intense, but very scary. I would only hope to know someone with the guts and fight for life that Chyna Shepherd has...the world would be a much better place....::smile
Rating: Summary: An intense reading experience. Review: A great book. Dean Koontz is a master storyteller in my view. His two main characters Chyna Sheppard and Edgler Foreman Vess were well thought out and a perfect match. The scariest element, I found, was the honesty with which Edgler Foreman Vess comes from. He really thinks he is fulfilling life's purpose. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: What could be more intense than Intensity??? Review: The very first Dean Koontz book I've ever read and it's this one. Boy, am I glad! Now I can't wait to read another book of his which I had picked up at the bookstore along with Intensity. The reason I wanted to read Intensity is that I knew Fox channel was planning to show "Intensity" the miniseries on TV this week, and when I had read the synopsis for it in the local TV guide, I was quite intrigued. But my personality is that once I've seen a TV show or movie, I wouldn't want to read the book itself because there wouldn't be any surprises for me. On the other hand, if I had read a book and liked it enormously, I would definitely want to see how they acted it out on screen or how the book was adapted to screen. As for the novel itself, I can't say enough of it. Sure, there were moments when I felt bored or my mind wandered away. Those moments were usually when Chyna was remembering stuff about her past. Well, I was more interested in the present. The first few pages kept me interested enough to continue reading, but once when the first murders happens, I was totally hooked. And from there on, boy, was it intense!
Rating: Summary: Wordy Review: I did enjoy this book, but it had one unforgivable problem: 150+ pages of nothing. Much of this book is telling what Chyna could do and then what would happen if she did that, and why that wouldn't be a good idea. It does that about four times before she actually decides to do something. Another example of wordiness is Mr. Vess and what "intriques" him. Koontz seems to have told everything, which would probably be every noun in the dictionary. Trees intrique him, blood intriques him, etc. etc. I didn't buy Vess's character, either. There is a point where people become too wierd. However, the last hundred pages are good. If you are a Koontz fan, you should greatly enjoy this.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT!!! Review: I just starting reading Dean Koontz, and this was HORRYFYING!!! It scared me to death! Of course the fact that I was home alone in the evening reading it, didnt help, but it was wonderful! I read quiet of few horrors, and this one was the first that actually scared me so much I was shaking, while reading!!! Im new to Dean Koontz, I read this one, "The eyes of darkness," "Tick Tock" and in the process of reading "Mr. Murder" and "Shadow FIres" if anyone has any sugestions on where to go from there or any other authors like Dean Koontz please email me!!
Rating: Summary: HELP!!! Review: I LOVED this book, It completly scared me for days and days. If anyone out there can recommend a thriller just as good please do so. You can e-mail me with titles. Much appreciated...
Rating: Summary: What a tripy book Review: For a thirteen year old I liked this book but it wasn't that great to me.I think that Koontz is an excellent writer and does a wonderful job I just thought some of this book was dull.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable Review: Intensity was my first Koontz book. As several people have experienced, I could not put it down, in spite of knowing how it all would end. What should be the next Koontz book for me to read? Some of you Koontz fans help me.
Rating: Summary: Koontz' Best Yet! Review: I'm not the biggest DK fan, but of the four or five I've read this is the least predictable and best heartpounding thriller I've read in a long time. I found this book keeping me awake at night turning pages and burning dinner because I couldn't put it down. I loved it. I might just give DK another chance.
Rating: Summary: Definitely "intense." But nothing original. Review: One of the most suspenseful books I've read, but once finished I realized there was nothing unique about it. How many books/movies/shows have the same theme? A young, hapless girl being tortured and teased by a lunatic-- if I had a dollar for every plot similar to this I could get that Minivan I've always wanted!
