Rating: Summary: Very Intense! Review: This book is great! The reason why I did not give it 5 stars is because it scared me a little too much for a book. The main character is Chyna who is a strong and smart woman. She deals with a serial killer while on vacation with her college roomate in Napa valley. I like the way she is a psychology major, she gave really good input on the actions of the villian of the novel. Edward Vess, the most complex character of the story literally gave me the chills. He is strangely normal yet very scary due to his actions through the course of the novel. Dean Koontz really makes you question peoples true intentions. Another aspect of the book I was fond of is the way it's really straight foward, especially in the case of Edward Vess. The first chapter gets you hooked, there is a lot going on so you want to finish it in the same sitting. The one thing that Koontz could have done to make this book better is to add more dialogue, a good part of the story has no talking. Overall this is one of the best suspense-thrillers I have ever read. I finished this book in 2 days, squeezing it whenever possible.
Rating: Summary: First book like this I ever read. Review: I don't usually read this kind of book, but I needed a good airport book and THIS WAS IT. It pulled me along. I was desperate to keep reading, and scared to death to keep reading!Great leisure reading!
Rating: Summary: Remember to Breathe Review: This book of amazing. I read it in two days because I could not put it down. There were times I was so tense I would forget to breathe. It is intense. I don't remember the last time I read something so twisted. It keeps you guessing until the end. Great read. Some parts are slow, but they are definately worth reading through to get to the rest of this incredible book.
Rating: Summary: One of the best psycho killer novels I've read! Review: I was surprised with INTENSITY, as I thought it would be a very boring imitation to Stephen King's GERALD'S GAME. However, I was wrong (and I'm glad I was). INTENSITY is a very 'intense' novel. I've read many novels of where a killer captures someone and the victim has to try to escape, but I think this was actually the best! Although there is only one slight twist near the end, reading to find out what Joanna's fate will be is enough to keep you turning the pages :)
Rating: Summary: Riveting Review: One of the most aptly named of all his books. This is the harrowing tale of a woman with a disturbingly dark past, who is made to confront her demons or perish at the hand of a maniac who lives to inflict pain and harm on those he meets. An extremely lucid book with Koontz's special brand of villain and unlikely heroine complementing each other's character in an unexpected but welcome manner. His formula of rising above the odds, just as he did as a child is startlingly clear throughout and his faith in the inherent goodness of man is evident and so well transferred into one of his greatest books ever. I especially enjoyed this book because of it's nuances, the little details are what make it, the characters' familiar mannerisms and the profound honesty with which it is told. Rating: Summary: One of the better written books I have read Review: It takes alot for me to read a book and not put it down. I definetely give this a thumbs up. This book was very hard for me to put down at all because it was so intense. The title describes it well! The action starts at the beginning and keeps going. That to me is well worth the money and the time to read. I don't like those books that starts out slow and your bored with it. I hope the other books are as good!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: I'm reading Intensity for the second time and it hasn't lost anything to the fact that I already know what's coming. I agree that it is rather evolved compared to some of Koontz' early works, which dragged along and seemed written by a seventh-grader. This book leaves me breathless, and I hate to put it down. I aspire to reading it through in one setting. A fine example of Dean Koontz' best.
Rating: Summary: Intensity is appropriate Review: If you are looking for a book that moves fast, this is it. Throughout most of the book, I had the feeling that I was watching a movie thriller. This is literally one that is hard to set down. Don't expect to take home any deep meaning, this one is pure entertainment. Violence prevails and it deserves an "R" rating, however, the trade off is you will not fall asleep. Mr. Koontz, excellent job.
Rating: Summary: Interesting, but not really THAT Intense. Review: The early part of the book is written poorly. We get to learn about Chyna Sheppard and the way Koontz writes it makes her appear flat, especially for someone who went through such a traumatic childhood. However, the book takes off as the family she is staying with is visited by a mysterious killer. Koontz puts an interesting spin on him, but the killer is never really fleshed out and I was in disbelief at the killer's views on how he finds sensory experiences as Intense moments. The plotline, however is good and deserves kudos. Especially the escape and how Koontz played Sheppard against time to free herself and other captor. If only his writing would have been better...Rating: C+
Rating: Summary: Intensely dull and un-origional. Review: This book had nothing new to offer. I felt like skimming but forced my way through. Our Heroine escapes again and again from impossible situations without any real guile. And if you cannot predict the 'twist' I imagine you have never read a book or watched a movie before. A poor man's 'Misery'.
