Summary: No More Appropriate Title Than This....
Review: I have been a Koonz fan for some time. But reading his novels is like taking a trip into sci-fi fantasyland. His books, while gripping, are an escapist pleasure. Preferring James Paterson as an author and lacking time, I have not read Koonz for a while.

I picked up the softcover version of Intensity at the store and thought I would start it over dinner. However, two hours later I found myself so wrapped up in this book that my dinner had grown cold and my legs had grown numb! I had not moved an inch during the first 150 pages! This book draws you in immediately and forcefully! It brings you on an incredibly journey with the main character fighting for her own life and for the life of her dead friend.

If you are a Koonz fan, I think you will automatically love this novel. If you are someone who has never read him, but might like to start, this is a WONDERFUL first time read (although, with Intensity, Koonz may spoil you for all his other novels!).

I will wrap this review up by saying that it is a fast-paced, gripping novel. I give it my highest recommendation!

Have a great day!

Summary: You feel like you're having a long panic attack!
Review: This is the BEST Koontz book I have ever read. I understand now why the cover (on my book) was neon and geometrical. Even the cover made my heart beat faster...The intensity builds to a climax that I still remember feeling when I read the book for the first time! You will PHYSICALLY feel the excitement...Have you ever picked up a Stephen King or a James Patterson novel and just couldn't put it down?! Well, I think you will warp through the pages of this book at light speed to get to the ending! Just remember...take SLOW DEEP breathes!

Summary: A fantastic 12 hours! My favorite audio book!
Review: For some reason, I think Dean Koontz books translate really well to the audio format. I loved "Fear Nothing", and based upon that experience, I decided to listen to "Intensity" on my commute. It was even better.

This book grabs you by throat 20 minutes into it and doesn't let up for about 11 and a half hours! I was intrigued by both of the primary characters and how they both aproached similar situations so differently. The suspense is unbelievable. Koontz turns what could be just a few short chapters into an entire book, chock full of nerve-jangling detail written at a nail-biting pace.

The reading of this book was splendid. It really required that she switch narrative styles so that the listener could follow what was going on, and Kate Burton does that with admirable skill. I was never confused, and she did a great job of becoming, somehow, the horror that is Edgler Forman Vess.

This has been my favorite book on tape yet! Highly recommended!

Summary: A ticket into the mind of a psychotic killer
Review: I have once thought that Dean Koontz's False Memory and Sieze the Night were fast paced, but after reading Intensity, I take my thoughts back. This book defines 'fast paced'. In every page, you will find the sharp thrill of fright, of joy, of suspense, of anticipation. The book is based on an original idea which alone makes this book a gem.

The villain is shockingly insane with murder. Torturing living things is his way of living, a pleasurable indulgence. I was gasping and wide-eyed as I was reading his thoughts and attitude and seeing things from his point of view. He's smart and casual and could pass for a very ordinary lad among society, but he leads a secret life and performs his murders just as casually. Dean Koontz gives you entrance into the mind of a psychotic killer in this book... Mr. Vess as he likes calls him.

If that is not enough, the persuit will get you right on the edge. The killer gets his hands on two lives and traps them in his lair. Chyna Shepherd is the heroine who tries to escape and free herself not only from the killer, but also from a dark past. With every step she takes towards freedom, she faces another tougher obstacle. There wasn't the usual 'Get to the point, koontz!' in this book - the focus is on the action.

This book is everything it claims to be... INTENSE. No review can do it justice, you just have to read it.

Review: I enjoyed this book. I had no idea what to expect. From start to finish the book is gripping and entertaining. The villian's opening scene is terrifying. I found myself holding my breath during that scene. This book was also made into a tv movie a few years ago. Any Koontz fan will be glad they read this.

Summary: The title tells you everything...
Review: I hardly ever read a book as intense as this. From the moment I started reading it, I found myself enganged. As scared as I am with the scenes portrayed by Mr. Koontz, I couldn't let it go. What a ride it has been.
