Rating: Summary: Couldn't close it Review: This is only my opinion of course, but I'd have to say as reader of all the Vampire Chronicles, this is the second best after "The Vampire Lestat". It's fresh, original, and extremely creative. David Talbot's character provides Lestat with important information he couldn't have learned from "the Ancient Ones". A real page turner and an excellent plot.
Rating: Summary: 10 stars is more like it Review: This book it great. Everything about this book is great. I loved it so much. It is deffently one of the best books out there. I recommend this to eveyone. THe story is so descriptive and is writine with a lot of detail. I thought it was really cool how lestat got to be human agin for a few days. And the climax is really interresting. The part at the really end is so good, I couldnt believe it. THis book is a mixture of adventure, romance and a bit of horer all together. Every kind of emotion is listed in this book. And I recomend it to anyone that likes good novels.
Rating: Summary: Edge of my seat... Review: I couldn't put it down. Lestat reminds me of so many of those impish little boys we all remember from grade school. I really enjoyed this one.
Rating: Summary: MAKE OF MOVIE OF THIS ONE, PLEASE!!! Review: I couldn't put this book down!!! I have read it now a total of 3 and a half times. (shoud be 4 in 2 more days) This is the best of Anne Rice's books (with the exception of Interview with the Vampire) I just loved the part when Lestat meets Mojo. And what about the part when Lestat begs Louis to turn him back into a vampire? Oh it's so unforgetble, I wish everyone would give this book a chance.
Rating: Summary: Best of her Best Review: All I can say is that this is one of her best masterpieces ever. I've read all the chronicals...although Interview with the Vampire comes close this has been the book that's keeped me glued to my chair. GREAT JOB RICE!!!!
Rating: Summary: A Change of Pace Review: Where, to start..where to start...though I agree with most of the reviewers in the fact that this latest installment in the Vampire Cronicles takes our hero towards new territory, unfortunately it covers the same issues and emotions that are faced in the previous trilogy but after hearing the same for so long it becomes repetitive and boring. Being the largest of the cronicles (it's almost 3 times the thickeness of Interview with the Vampire)the reader finds himeself pondering where this novel is going and the interesting scenes and concepts, instead of being of the same originality as we have come to expect from Ms. Rice appear stupid and cliched. An example of this is Lestat's discovery that all his 'presents' are about body switching (it took him half the book to figure it out)and still only came about this after David Talbot's kindergarden stile of explanation, which Lestat couldn't understand. I thought he was supossed to be cunning and intellegent!!! Any integredy that Anne Rice had was dashed in the opening pages when she basically comes across as being asshamed of The Queen of the Damed and THe Vampire Lestat both of which are many times better. After the epicness of the previous installement this edition seems pointless, aimless and utterly rediculous. Though the final chapter confirms once and for all Lesats character witch was much lacking prehand and proves for once and for all the unpredicability of Anne Rice and her Vampires (or is it the other way around). Just read the last chapter...the rest is pointless....
Rating: Summary: Arguably Rice's finest book Review: "Tale of the Body Thief" is perhaps the best novel to date from Anne Rice and there are some tough contenders in the catagory. To be honest it's not my favorite("Lestat" will always have a special place in my heart,) I do concede that it has the best balance of plot, character, and philosphy without losing control of any of them. The novel is truely a "tale," in that it is very densely told and economical, almost like a great short story, yet without ever losing sight of the great urgency and vividness that is Rice's trademark. Even the florid language is kept to a minimum. The novel is wholly believable despite being what amounts to a genuinely bizzarre vampire story. The characters are all developed even the ones on the perephery. No character is there just as a plot device or a "symbol." Like an actor returning to his most beloved character, Rice is in great form with Lestat at his darkest hour sans his usual smugness. David is also a great and interesting character. Thank you Anne Rice for writing a truely resourceful and interesting elderly character. One again she turns expectations on their heads. Also for someone who's never read a Rice novel, if you don't mind the fact that there are three novels preceding this this would be a great novel to start off with for it is mostly self-contained.
Rating: Summary: One of the best? Perhaps... Review: The day I got this book, was like beeing in the fifth heaven. I did love every part of it, and if it's possible, I started to adore vampire Lestat even more than before... The book is so good, that words just can't say enough... It makes you wonder, if Anne Rice really is the queen of the literature... she is... Lestat is still the great all mighty vampire in this one. And the part where Louis doesn't give Lestat his pre-natural blood, makes you wan't to scream. (Damn you Louis, give him the blood, and so on...) The book is erotic, and beautiful, like always. It makes you think, but it's easy to read. What can I say, I want to read it again, and again...
Rating: Summary: I can not stop reading!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 Review: I started off with Interview and became a total Rice fan. I have been reading the chronicles now for six months and with every book I get exactly what I am looking for. The Body Thief is no different. Mrs. Rice delievered an exciting tale that is worthy of the Chronicles' status. As long as you keep pumping them out Mrs. Rice, I'll keep soaking them in.
Rating: Summary: GOOD book, better than MEMNOCH THE DEVIL! <--AHHH Review: An okay book. So what if people have problems with Vampire's being bisexual... ?? Humans do it, why can't they? I have to admit that it seemed Lestat was a bit too stupid to let his body be stolen, I mean, come on, let's see... to be a human and have no powers whatsoever as compared to an all powerful vampire to do everything and anything he wants... hmmm?? Even if Lestat was curious of being human again, and experiencing a human life... how could he be so dim-witted to switch his body with a man like that? Oh well, if he didn't there would be no story, so nevermind. Overall, the book is interesting to read. I liked it, I enjoyed it, even if Anne Rice likes to describe things to like the most microscopic detail... it's like, OKAY, I KNOW the table is brown... who cares who painted it!!!!
