Rating: Summary: Quest of adventure Review: This book is one of the finest crafted fantasy stories that I have ever read. A wonderful story full of adventure, mystery, fantasy, love, good, and evil. I loved the good guys and hated the bad ones. I found myself totally engulfed in the story. I couldn't, and still can't, pry my eyes from the tattered pages. If you have a rainy day spend it reading this book, because you won't put it down. No matter how many Stephen King books I read I stand biased that this one is the best. It has also turned me on to a new author, Peter Straub. Without him, I am sure that it wouldn't have been the epic that it is. I recommend this book to all story-lovers
Rating: Summary: A terrific example of classic story telling. Review: Without a doubt one of the best told stories ever. The detailed descriptions of both characters and other lands envelopes the reader as though he were another friend on the mission save two worlds. You grieve for those lost along the way and cheer with every victory. A classic epic-adventure with the twisted jab of Stephen King and the lone despair of Peter Straub. It's a wonderful fantasy that is a quick read, despite the length (which really isn't long enough). A sequel would be great, but it would be hard to compare with the pure genius of this first attempt
Rating: Summary: A book you'll remember for years! Review: I read this book over 10 years ago and I still think about it. As a Stephen King fan I must admit that this is my all time favorite. No dought because of the Peter Straub contributions to the book. What a great team they made... makes you wonder if they could find the magic again or would it be a let down like so many other sequels
Rating: Summary: Outstanding entertainment Review: I read everything SK writes. I like most it.<BP>
I LOVE this story. I felt a real conection with<BP> the characters and it was actually <BP> a disapointment to come to the end.<BP> I want more, more, more. Would make a great movie!
Please, Stephen and Peter, do it again!
Rating: Summary: Terrific... Review: I've always read Stephen King, but when I read The Talisman it stood out wonderfully. I've read this book 3 times and my hands sweat everytime. This book turned me on to Peter Straub too. If you want to try a new writer, try reading Mystery by Peter Straub. It has quickly jumped to the top of my list of books. Kudos to King and Straub for the masterpiece they call the "The Talisman"
Rating: Summary: A great book, even for Stephen King Haters Review: This is a wonderful book that can be enjoyed on different levels by just about anyone. It is definately NOT your usual Stephen King blood-and-guts horror story.
I've recommended this book to several friends who absolutely hate Stephen King's writing and they have all loved it. The team of Stephen King and Peter Straub have produced a wonderful story which combines fantasy, science-fiction, drama and adventure to produce a thoroughly enjoyable tale.
If you're looking for a "can't-put-it-down" novel with characters that you will really care about and an exciting story where the good guys win...you'll enjoy this one
Rating: Summary: Once you pick it up, you won't want to stop reading it. Review: When I first got this book, I thought I would never finish it since it's so long. But once I got started, I couldn't seem to put it down and I ended up reading it in two days. It's one of the best Stephen King books I have ever read
Rating: Summary: IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS!!!! Review: All it took for me to pick this book up was an offhand comment from a friend: "My god! What that boy went through for his mother..." I can't count anymore how many times I've read this book. I find something new in it each time. Rarely am I compulsed to care for fictional characters as I do for these. You literally can't put the book down once you get into it, and I never want the story to end when, at last, it finally does. One of my all time favorites!!!
Rating: Summary: True Kings Review: Before I read The Talisman, I was a fan of Stephen King. After I read The Talisman, I was a worshipper of Stephen
King. This has to be one of the best books ever written,
category irrelevent. From the first page, this book took
me on a fast-paced journey that ended only after i had read the very last page. Twice. I stayed up into the wee hours and got up before dawn to finish this riveting tale. When I did finish it, I found myself wanting more.
The story of a boy and his very special friend, their trials, adventures, misadventures, and
the incredible bond they shared. Stehpen King and Peter Straub, are true Kings. A must read.. for everone.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book! Review: By far one of the better books I've read. It engrosses you in the story and you don't want to put it down. I read over 200 pages in one night!
Highly recommended!
