Rating: Summary: Two thumbs up! Guaranteed to make you a fan overnight Review: This is the first Anita Blake novel I've read, and frankly, I'm hooked! Laurell K. Hamilton has created a complex and fast-paced world. I throughtly enjoyed her style. It's a very difficult book to put down.Character development is very good, and although Anita's flippancy is sometimes a bit overstated, on the whole she is a very likable, ruthless, no-nonsense monster-killer. Jean-Claude makes for a very interesting counterpoint,as does Dolph. Both are, in their own way, both cold and warm towards her. Definitely great!
Rating: Summary: Bad guys get what they deserve from good girl Anita Review: In this story the bad guys (human ones even!) and girls get what they deserve from Miss Anita Blake, The Executioner - and ace reanimator. She who raises the dead proves once again she is equally adept at dropping them. There is plenty of tragedy and mayhem in this story but Anita doesn't lose her sense of humor. Like all of the books in this series there is plenty of life-or-death action. Anita does not live a quiet life: she doesn't go looking for trouble, it just has her scent. The rich guy in this tale is definitely not the good guy! Hope these books get translated info a movie or a TV series soon. The whole series is excellent and unique in its alternate-world premise: what if the supernatural were not unheard of, just a little less than common?
Rating: Summary: GOOD!!! Review: This book was definitely better than Guilty Pleasures! But is it just me or do her books keep getting better as you go along? I'm reading Circus of the Damned right now and like it better! But this was a definitely good book! Some of the murder scenes are a little gory but oh well! There was also more action than in Guilty Pleasures!
Rating: Summary: It was great!!! Review: I love this series! I love vampire novels and this is one of the best series I have ever read. The characters and the dialog are great. Anita makes a wonderful heroine. Jean Claude is a very sexy vampire.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic - the best out of the 3 I've read so far ... Review: I got my Anita Blake books out of order. I read Bloody Bones first (great), then Guilty Pleasures which I found a bit hard to get into. But The Laughing Corpse - what a sensational story ! Lots of action, bad characters and Anita at the wittiest I've seen so far. I'm glad I've still got 3 to read ...
Rating: Summary: killer zombies loose, & lusty vampires what's a girl to do? Review: Wow! I absolutly love the adventures of Anita Blake. Where else are you going to gind zombies, wereanimals, vampires, animators and humor all in one book? Between the action sceeens you are treated to the witty reparte of both Anita, and animator/vamper slayer/helper on the spook squad, and Jean Claude, the master vampire who just happens to lust aftert her. In this book we learn that you can be a "tough as nail" vampire slayer, raise the dead, and still have a collection of stuffed penguines. I could not put this book down for a second
Rating: Summary: Vampires, Zombies, Werewolves, oh my!!! Review: Ok, here's how NOT to start your day. Don't even accept an invitation to raise a centuries old corpse. The people in question have a tendancy to want to use you to raise it if you won't do the job for them. Next, don't piss off the Alpha leader of a very powerful werewolf pack, especially if his Alpha mate is a really twisted person, who has a werecougar as her bodyguard, and he likes to wear silver pierced through his body just to feel the pain. And lastly, don't fall in love with the Alpha wolf's main rival. This could be detrimental to both his and your health, when the master Vampire of the city is also in love with you. All in all, this was a thoroughly enertaining book, and I have loved this series from book one. I highly recommend this to anyone who is into strange occurrences, which could happen to you if you just happened to turn the wrong corner on the wrong street. Who said this wasn't for real
Rating: Summary: Incredibly realistic! Review: This book is great. It pulls you right into the story and won't let go. If you want humor, fear and suspense just sit down and read this book. This book makes you love, hate, and lust for the bad guys. You actually feel like you need to jump in and be a part of this dream-like experience
Rating: Summary: You have got to read this!!! Review: I didn't know what to expect. I couldn't put this book down for one second. This was on of the wittiest vampire books I have read in a long time
Rating: Summary: Who would've thought that animation is a dangerous. Review: If you are an animator who refused a request of a very rich and a very nasty man, you are in trouble. Now, if you also manage to cross a Voo Doo priestess and a master vampire your life can become downright unpleasant. And with a murderous zombie on the loose... Sometimes it doesn't pay to be nice
