Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best vampire series since Dark Shadows
Review: I grew up watching Dark Shadows after school and this is the first series I've come across that captures that blend of horror, drama, and romance that grabs my attention. Anita Blake should hit the big screen next.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Perservere
Review: If I had read this first instead of Guilty Pleasures I would probably not have read another one. The violence in this book is pretty stomach-churning, and while it's blackly funny in parts, there isn't as much personal interaction as in the other Anita Blake books I've read. So if this is your first exposure to Anita Blake, don't be discouraged but go on and try the rest of the series.

Summary: Gore
Review: If you read "Guilty Pleasures" continue to read the series because it gets better.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Exciting and fast paced!
Review: Do no read this book while eating. You will end up tossing your cookies if you do. Blood, gore, guts. This book is full of it. Loved it. Still had a problem with the "shrugging". Wish the character could come up with some other gesture. This one is starting to become annoying.

Summary: tired of vampires but love stories about the undead?
Review: I started reading this series because the girl next to me in Waldenbooks told her companion that this was "the best series she's ever read." I'm not ready to go quite that far, but it's definately good brain candy. It has good vampires, but other neat undead as well. Amazon is a good place to but these books because traditional bookstores don't usually have all the titles.

Summary: it kicks
Review: in my opinion the most important part of a book is the ending. The ending can make or break a book. this book has a cool ending. Need I say more?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Who says the dead ain't interesting?
Review: Anita is back. This lady is one you want on your side. God help you if you're a bad guy. She' rough, tough and won't be pushed around by anyone, not even the most feared voodoo priestess in St. Louis. I recommend this to anyone who loved Guilty Pleasures.

Summary: Brains & guts!
Review: One of the best of the series - I read them all in one sitting, but this one instilled the most palpable sense of horror. Dominga Salvatore is more frightening than her creations, and is a worthy adversary for Anita Blake. I enjoy the downward spiral to the vast grey area between good and evil. In later books, the struggle doesn't seem as important.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: totally excellent
Review: I have read this book and could barely put it down, except to sleep, so it took me two days to finish. I work in a bookstore in St. Louis and a customer to me that the author was a fellow St. Louisian. If you haven't read all of her books, trust me and read them in order. They are a continuing saga and its the best series I've ever read. I'm looking forward to future novels by this magnificent author.

Summary: Anita Blake is a great character!
Review: I've read all the Anita Blake books to date, and this one is definitely a five star read.

Ms. Hamilton's view on monsters and vampires is great. And the story keeps going so fast that you can't put the book down. Every page there is something going on.

All the supporting characters are interesting and I really like the way Anita's character is being developed.

A must read!
