Rating: Summary: Mind Blowing Review: I first got this book from my uncle, but the compy I got was in bad shape. I still read it. I bought another copy, and read it again. This book is creepy, fascinating, and scarry all rolled into one. One of the best books I've ever read out there. I'm rereading the book again for the 3rd time, and I still have a hard time putting the book down. Its defenitly worth buying. Robert R. McCammon is up there with stephen king as one of the best writers (to me at least) His books and this book are some of the best out there.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book Ever Written Review: I've read this book 67 times. I think it's the best book EVER written. A thousand times better than the Stand and McCammon is a thousand times better a writer than King. No matter how many times I read it, I'm still amazed at the superb story.
Rating: Summary: timeless Review: i cant write up some big review, but i have a good reason why... i borrowed this book from a friend in 9th grade. the year was over before i finished it so i had to give it back. im 24 now. 10 years later i still havent forgotten this book. i never knew the author, but the title i couldnt possibly forget. and now that its remembered again, i am most definitly looking forward to reading it. also, dont think to heavy on the horror part. i am a fantasy fan (forgotten realms) who hates horror things like movies and much of stephen kings stuff. but this book never occured to me as being strictly horror. readers of all types will enjoy this book.
Rating: Summary: 12 years later and still thinking about this book! Review: I read this book right after my daughter was born 12 years ago. It is a book that enthralled me for an entire week. Every spare minute I had (remember I had a new baby) I was reading this book. I had it on the counter while I cooked, and on the dryer while I folded clothes. When I finished reading it I went out and bought the hardback copy just so I would have it to read over and over when ever I wanted to. I had waited on a list at the library for 6 weeks before I got to read it the first time. If you have not read it yet I highly recommend that you do. Even if you do not feel it was a five star like I did you will not be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Swan Song; singing it's praises Review: Hooked from the first page. Great pace, excellent good verses evil plot.
Rating: Summary: 6 STARS!!!!!! Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read. I rarely give any book even 5 stars-it really has to be cuts above a 4 star, but I can't say enough about this book. There are so many layers, levels, and subplots to this book. To be honest, even though it was over 900 pages, I didn't want it to end. Even more incredible, there wasn't one significant soft spot, or part where I got bored. And yes, I have read "The Stand", and this book is NOT a knock-off of that. This book definitely stands on its own, and may actually be better in some ways. I read reviews that stated that people had read the book long ago and had not forgotten it, and had even re-read it. I think that will be true for me also. I loved this book and I think you will too. (Also, pick up his "Boy's Life"-that's also a very good read).
Rating: Summary: Look out Stephen K. Review: This book came very close to toppling Stephen King's THE STAND" as the best "end of the world" story. It was impossible to put down. I read all 956 pages in a week. I hope and pray this becomes a movie. All the characters were believable and the plot was just outstanding!!! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to take a break from Stephen King.
Rating: Summary: Different Version of THE STAND Review: McCammon is one of my favorite authors, and this is one of his best novels. Much like King's THE STAND, most of the world's population dies, leaving survivors to roam America. Where King used disease, McCammon uses nuclear war. Where King focused on character development, McCammon takes more of an action Mad Max bend. While the book is a long one, very few pages are wasted. A great place to start if not already a McCammon fan.
Rating: Summary: Way overrated.... Review: ... [This book] was entertaining to the extent that it gave me something to read on the train to work. I think the weakest point of the book, the one that actually ruined it for me, was this "Evil Man" that walked around killing people. Where did he come from? What did he want? If he is soooooooooo evil, then how can this girl affect him so strongly. And he always had eyes popping out of his skin, changing shape, it all just seemed so goofy! Since I'm ranting and raving here, this evil man is searching the country for this girl and the glass ring and he's riding a bicycle! Give me a break! And this "Job's Mask"...what?!!?! When it cracks, it reveals your true inner self? Oh brother....
Rating: Summary: Absolutely an astounding book. Review: Once in awhile a book will come along that just hits you upside the head and leaves you thinking about it for days after it's completion. Swan Song is a masterwork of Mr. McCammon. The story telling is just fantastic and the story doesn't let up until the final page. It's definately a page turner! When this book was a suggested to me, it was mentioned that this isn't a one time read. Everyone I know who has read it, has read it atleast twice. Do yourself a favour, read Swan Song.
