Rating: Summary: This book belongs in the Fiction hall of Fame Review: I've read Swan Song over and over and it remains one of favorites. Gripping, compelling, fascinating, thrilling, horrifying and beautiful this novel is destined to thrill all who pick it up. Absolutely fantastic and worth every minute.
Rating: Summary: My all-time favorite Review: Even though I read this novel only once in 1988, it somehow still remains fresh and intact as if I read it yesterday. Of course I can't remember the characters' names; the plot is intentionally sureal and downright frightening to the very bone. Unfortunately it sits waiting to be read for only the second time in 10 years in my basement. How are such talented witers ever pushed to these limits ?
Rating: Summary: One of THE most intoxicating books of all times! Review: Swan Song is now, and forever will be one of my favorite and most loved books. It touches the heart and stimulates the brain. The realisticness portrayed by McCammon is unreal! It really makes you think about what would really happen if you were in those same people's situation. If you like realistic books that touches the head and heart, READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Epic...mindblowing...couldn't put it down Review: Get this book! Surivive the first few chapters (where some confusion as to what exactly is happening) and you'll be rewarded with an amazingly intricate, grand scale epic that you won't be able to put down for the last two hundred pages. I have read so many horror/thriller stories that I no longer get that "scared" feeling but through many parts of this book I felt just that.
Rating: Summary: good enough to read 3 times Review: I first read this book in the summer of 1992 and have read it about 3 times since then. This book had more action than some of the parties I throw, and believe me I throw some great parties. Since then,I have read every McCammon book written and will read every book he writes....YOU'LL LAUGH, YOU'LL CRY, THIS BOOK WILL BECOME PART OF YOU!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: A great read Review: I'm reading Swan Song for the third time. What a book! It makes you cry, laugh and think. Wish he would write a sequel!
Rating: Summary: Outstanding apocalyptic saga! Review: When I read that Swan Song had been oft compared to Stephen King's The Stand, I decided to purchase it online...particularly after reading all the rave reviews. I must agree wholeheartedly that this was an outstanding treatment of the end-of-the-world theme. The characterization was excellent, and the plot kept me engaged throughout the almost 1000 pages. I will definitely be reading more by Robert McCammon!
Rating: Summary: Not bad...not great. Review: This book is very long, and probably needed some editing. After finishing it, I didn't feel like I had really read anything. The characters were forgetable, the story was ok. Don't get me wrong, there were some pretty interesting ideas and creepy scenes. BUT a lot should have been edited out, which would have made the story more readable. Overall, I'd say that the first half of the novel was good, but after that it just falls apart, and gets lost in a clutter of strange ideas and a weak, weak ending. Try "Boys Life" instead.
Rating: Summary: worth re-reading Review: I've read this book 5 times and I think it get's better every time I re-read it. I read a lot of topics and overall I think this ranks right at the top as one of the best I've ever read. It's a long book and you're still sorry it even ends. Robert McCammon has a very good talent for writing and I compliment him on this book. Keep it up!
Rating: Summary: Imaginative end of the world horror epic. Review: I truly enjoy Robert McCammon's books, and this one was no exception. I would also highly recommend Baal. This book will send you right to the streets of India and in the process scare the wits out of you. I'd like to see McCammon come out with some more novels!
