Summary: My Favorite!
Review: I stumbled upon this site checking out my favorite author...to my delight there are more out there! Anyway- Swan Song took out any and all contenders for me! It was the beginning of an era! I tell any "serious" die-hard reader to indulge in the DELIGHT!! I thought I had them all (albeit in paperback but I got 'em!) The characters came alive...Enjoy! I guess there really IS some things similar to The Stand (I also have "all" of King's..) but it really never clicked til I read the reviews......

Summary: A must read . An experience you can't pass up.
Review: Swan Song is one of the best book I have ever read. The characters in this book were so original and interesting. The story line took you to another place. It makes you feel like you are there feeling the pain that these people had to feel and the joy of it being over when the new beginning starts.

Summary: Captivating story.
Review: Bravo Robert McCammon. A masterpiece of fiction. I was sorry to come to the end. One of the most vivid writers. His characters and imagery are phenomenal. The story takes one through many emotions. I don't know why this story is listed under horror. Fiction is more appropriate.

Summary: What A Story
Review: I read this book over 10 years ago. I loved it. Rich characters and landscapes. Better than The Stand.

I really enjoy post-apocolyptic novels (I hated The Postman) Can anyone reccommend any others that I might enjoy? Please email me with your suggestions: Aphrodite0000@yahoo.com

Summary: Great tale of a post-nuclear war
Review: This book was by far one of the best I have red about post nuke war books. I would enjoy reading it again, but it is hard to find around here these days. There should be a movie made about this book. The intensity and detail surpass all that I have read. This is a great book and well deseres all praise

Summary: Amazingly vivid depiction of good vs. evil!
Review: I cannot express enough my insistence that this is one of the all-time best good vs. evil plots! If you enjoy loosing yourself in a book...laughing, crying, grimacing, finding yourself experiencing a wide range of emotions, then you will truly love this book!

Summary: Fantastic Book
Review: My cousin recommended that I read "Swan Song" about 7 years ago. Since then, I have re-read it four times. Although some people think that the story is a knock-off of King's "The Stand," (which I will agree there are striking similarities in the plot) the imagery that McCammon uses is so vivid, that it touches every emotion. I laughed, I cried, I felt like I was part of the characters involved. This book is easily my favorite and turned me onto McCammon forever!

Summary: Simply Brilliant...
Review: Let me start by saying that R. C. McCammon is easily my favorte author. "Swan Song" is the primary reason. I haven't read "The Stand" (which whis book is often compared to), but King's other post-appocalypse novel "The Talisman" looks like it was written by a junior high student in comparison. Technically speaking, most of the situations are a little (or more than a little) odd (to put it kindly). And maybe that's what makes it so enjoyable. What makes this such a phenominal read are the characters and the imagry. I can "see" a McCammon story better than any other author I've ever read, and develop a strong emotional tie to the characters. Although a brilliant story, McCammon's common flaw is apparent in this novel as well... After building for 700+ pages, it's as if he gets bored with the story and ends it as quickly as possible... As if the events in the conclusion don't need to be covered in the same detail as the rest of the book. in spite of this little problem, I've now purchased four copies of this book, because I keep giving them away. Yes, it's THAT good.

Summary: A different opinion
Review: This book is obviously a favorite with lots of people. Be warned, however -- if you didn't like The Stand, you probably won't care much for Swan Song. I am one of those people who disliked The Stand intensely, feeling it was an endless mass of mindless and writhing drivel so far below King's capability as to be unworthy of print, much less reading. Ditto for Swan Song as a McCammon product. This is the only book among hundreds I have purchased in five years, including most McCammon, that I simply stopped reading and tossed out after ~100 pages. Your reaction to the very first chapter is probably a good test. If this asinine portrayal of the inception of a (now rather outdated) WW3 doesn't irritate you, maybe you'll be able to stomach the rest of this cliche-ridden pseudo-religious stupidity. I couldn't. It's been a pleasure to get this off my chest, and at the rate people are posting bouquets for this book, it will disappear from the reviews pretty soon... ;-)

Summary: THE BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ!!!
Review: I am an avid reader of horror, suspense, and mystery novels, and this book is a brilliant mixture of all three genres. Swan Song also evokes great emotion ranging from fear to despair and ultimately joy. This book consumed me the entire time I was reading it. I even dreamt about the characters. McCammon paints a chilling picture of post-nuclear America, and it makes me thankful that the cold war is over. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading.
