Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A post-nuclear world worth looking forward to.
Review: This book is so terrific, I re-read it every-other year. I've always hoped there would be a sequel. The face of the future is shown in ways that will horrify & delight you at the same time.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Move over King and McCammon and let Kleier take a bow
Review: I loved SWAN SONG and THE STAND--excellent books each. But both pale as end of the world epics in comparison to the ultimate end time novel I've ever read, Glen Kleier's THE LAST DAY. If you haven't read that book, check it out. It has the most original plot and ending yet, and I read end of the world books with a passion. If you like McCammon and King, you will appreciate Kleier.

Summary: Yet another 5 star rating, and enough about the stand!
Review: My aunt lent me this book and I figured it sounded a lot like the Stand, which at the time was my favorite novel. I read Swan Song every night for a week and a half. It was way better then the stand, and wasn't anything like it aside from the 'end of the world' scenario and an evil rising to threaten the survivors, so I'm not even going to compare the two books. The characters in Swan Song are so richly developped that you begin to feel for them. It's almost like you want to protect Swan just as much as the characters do. The last hundred pages or so are simply outstanding. It was so suspenseful that I could hardly sit still, and when it was over, I wished there was more to it then its 956 pages. The ending is what got me the most. There couldn't have been a more fitting end to this amazing story. I enjoyed everything about this book. It never gets boring, it doesn't have seven hundred characters in it all doing different things (like another novel i already said i wouldn't compare it to), but instead three main groups. The symbolism is just amazing, and the underlying themes and story is incredible. I can't say enough about it, so read it for yourself.

Summary: STUPENDOUS! Robert, we're still waiting for the movie....
Review: Alas, I've turned on one more person to this book and author, and yes, I HAD to read it again. That brings the number up to around 12. This is the book that got me back into reading. I've now read everything McCammon has written and am anxiously waiting for more. Every person I know who has read it has but one comment: "Wouldn't this make a GREAT movie!" I'm still wondering where it is, too. Read, enjoy, then try some other works by McCammon.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Entertaining rip off of The Stand
Review: McCammon has always been a Stephen King wannabe, and this is his most blatant steal. It's the plot of THE STAND exactly. He did not even change the first letter of the villian's name! Here it's "Friend" instead of "Flagg." Still, McCammon is a good writer, and if you can overlook the plagiarism, this is an entertaining book.

Summary: Why Isn't This Made Into a Movie?
Review: I not only read this rather long book, I read it twice -- and found it hard to put down both times. It puts me in mind of Stephen King's The Stand, only with a post-nuclear instead of post-germ-warfare scenario. I don't know how to describe it except as a marvelously real fantasy, peopled with characters who were almost too real for comfort. A strong spiritual theme runs through the storyline, leading to a powerful finish. I can't help but imagine what a fantastic movie this book would make, full of wondrous special effects and suspense. McCammon does not have as wide a readership as King (who does?), but I bet a lot of King readers would enjoy McCammon, too -- once they discovered him!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A little long and tedious at times, but still 4 stars.
Review: As the one line summary above says, the book can be a little long and tedious at points, but still an overall 4 star read.

I must admit that the desire for the story to end really started to hit me at about the last 300 pages. So at this point I started to skim the last part of the book. Fortunatily by this point all of the major plot points where well in place so by skimming the last 300 pages I was able to conclude the book and still get satisfaction out of the reading experience.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of the best that I've read
Review: This is one book that I would recommend for good thriller reading. I got into the characters and and found myself in their world everytime I picked it up. McMammon is a very good author!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Should be rated 10 stars!
Review: Excelent! Very memorable! I read "ALOT", but I do not like to read a book twice. This book I've read several times. I constantly loan it out or recomend it to friends.I think I have bought 3 copies, and just ordered another, as I want to read it again! Better than S.K.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: You'd be better of with King's The Stand
Review: While Swan Song starts off well, it slowly grinds to a halt. The protagonist characters are fairly well developed but I found the main antagonist to be neither very scary nor very antagonistic. I know that there's better out there by this author but this isn't one of them.
