Rating: Summary: A "Swan Song" Review: Where I come from "a swan song" is a song of triumph. It is indeed a triumph. I agree with one of the reviewers that wrote : a book to be reread every year. I do it with "The Stand" and "Swan Song", "It" and the Talisman, books to be reread. This book is indeed one of the most compelling real stories I have ever read. I have read more of Mr. McCammon's books - indeed in the last two months bought thru' Amazon two or three more. I enjoyed them all . This is the best. The people are friends and keep you interested in what will happen to them write till the disappointing - only because it IS the LAST page........What about a sequel Mr. McCammon ? Thank you, for hours of reading enjoyment.
Rating: Summary: Wars aftermath Review: This in my opinion is his best work! I was so drawn into the book and was saddened when it ended, he brings the charactors to life with such passion that you feel like you are with them on their journey. I don't have a favorite charactor as I love them all. I could not put this book down and stayed up the whole night to finish it. Thank you Mr McCammon for the chance to read your beautiful book!
Rating: Summary: ONE OF THE GREATEST BOOKS EVER WRITTEN! Review: Swan Song is one of thosebooks that you keep in asecure place so you can take it out every year andre-read it. I have sharedthis book with no less thana dozen friends and each one loved it! It's a shamethat Robert R. McCammon hasn't written more books, or a sequel.
Rating: Summary: Swan Song Review: This book is of good and evil, plain and simple, outragous and complicated all at the same time. This is one of the longest stories I have read at over a thousand pages and small print and I read it in 24 hours, virtually non-stop. I am by far not a speed reader but this book will captivate and keep you reading into the early morning hours and beyond. Of all the apocoliptic stories I have read, this is by far the best that will ever be written. Almost 10 years after reading this awesome novel it is still the best book I ever read besides the bible. Five stars is not good enough it is in a class all by itself.
Rating: Summary: Swan Song Review: This book is long with incredibly small print. It took me a short while to get hooked, but once hooked, you can't put the book down. The characters are well developed, and how they are all brought together, is climactic and satisfying. It is an excellent read, one that I have loaned to several friends, all enjoyed it every bit as much as I.
Rating: Summary: If I were stranded on a desert island... Review: and had nothing but this book, I would be happy. It is the best book I have ever read in my life!
Rating: Summary: A Surprisingly Revealing Story Of The Ultimate Battle! Review: This book was my introduction to the works of McCammon and, I must say, my first reaction was to find more! Swan Song starts as many post-apocalyptic stories do; with a nuclear holocaust, and, while the similarities between this book and The Stand are quite obvious, they are in general theme only. The characters are rich and complex, the storyline well-written and peppered with sub-plots enough to keep things interesting without overwhelming the reader. Swan Song also introduces a concept which I, personally, found very appealing. Not long after the Bombs have hit many people discover growths on their heads or faces. Thinking that they are caused by radiation sickness most people are scared and many of the unafflicted begin to ostrasize its victims. As the story continues however, this caul begins to seem less as cancerous growth and more as some kind of mutation. The day the cauls come off is a day of revelation for many. Swan, when the bombs hit, is a five year old girl. As she matures, begins to show an ability like no other. She has the gift of life and may be the only one capable of healing the earth of her wounds. With the help of the friends she has made through her travels, Swan has the power to create a rebirth for the planet and her people, if she survives long enough. For, you see, the very forces of evil, itself, are bent on destroying her and all that she's worked to rebuild. Definitely a must-read for fans of post-apocalyptic sci-fi, fantasy, and horror.
Rating: Summary: My All-time Favorite Book! Review: A friend recommended this book and I couldn't put it down! My copy became so worn that I had to buy it again. Definitely a book to own & keep. The story is full of sad endings & joyful, new beginnings, friendships & bonds, good v. evil, renewing messages. Characters that you love, suffer with and pity. And others that you love to hate and fear. The kind of characters that you can't help but get "involved" with! The symbolism is fabulous! I couldn't wait until my next chance to keep reading, I hated to put it down & I was sorry it was over. I intend to read it again. Yes, it is that good!
Rating: Summary: Swan Song Review: This book is absolutely incredible! It's Stephen King's "The Stand", but much more understandable, much better character development, and much more sweeping in scope. I didn't want it to end(and it's a large book!). This is truley one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read. (Robert McCammon's "Boy's Life" was also incredible!)
Rating: Summary: Swan Song Made Me CRY! Review: I definetly recommend "Swan Song" for anyone who has not read it! True, it may be long, but it's FAR from boring... Oh, I love it... The characters, are so VIVID, so strong, and some are so EVIL! One of my only books that ever made me cry.... I love the vividness in it, and the way he described things.... It's a MUST read!
