Summary: Some Good Some Boring
Review: I should have guessed that Armand would have survived his burning at the end of Memnoch the Devil. How could there be Armand the Vampire if he died?

This is a long narrative by Armand on his relationship with Marius. The narrative is dripping with description of verything as perceived by the vampire's preternatural senses. This description is wonderful on its own but it gets repetitive - especially after reading it in the other vampire chronicles.

As the previous chronicles, Anne builds up to great drama and then she lets off the steam halfway. The steam here is let off when Armand and Marius is attacked by the Roman Coven. Marius burned and left for dead while Armand was saved.

That was the last Armand saw Marius and thought him to be dead until 500 years later. (We all knew from the earlier chronicles that Marius didn't die). So the burning question which is unsatisfactorily explained was why Marius didn't save Armand from the Roman Coven? Why didn't Marius sought Armand when he had recovered from his burns? Why did Marius abandon Armand when he had loved him?

It all went downhill after that and it ended with Marius turning Benji and Sybelle into vampires against Armand's wishes. Why did the wise Marius turn them into vampires without even batting his eyes, after all his earlier stand against the making of vampires?

So many questions to be resolved - another unsatisfying novel.

Summary: A Literary Masterpiece!
Review: Anne Rice's 6th novel will sweep you off your feet and into a hazy abyss of Italian and French culture. I truly envy Mrs. Rice's ability to write fictional literature in her trademark "otherwordly fashion". This book tells the story of Armand's life, from his apprenticeship to Marius up to the modern world in New Orleans where he finds religion and love for two young mortals. I recommend this novel for experienced readers with free time on their hands and an open mind that will allow them to float into another state of mind. All in all, I believe this is one of Anne Rice's best pieces to date.

Summary: BITE ME
Review: I actually bought this book a few years ago, but I stopped reading it for some reason. Now I know that reason, it was because it was SO BORING! It drags, it doesn't flow like some of Anne Rice's previous books, I didn't even finish the whole thing because I couldn't put up with the dragging. It's a waste of money and it is utterly BORING. Just read: The Vampire Lestat, Pandora and the Interview With The Vampire, if you haven't read any of Anne Rice's other works.

Summary: Boring one!
Review: I am a Chinese. And I'm a Anne Rice fan.
I like Vampire Chronicles so much. But this ends up in The Vampire Armand.
This book makes me tired, asleep. It entirely lacks interesting points. All the sick sex, meaningless emotions, really make me tired. And Marius and Armand, the couple of lovers, their love history had been mentioned in other books so many times, that makes me exhausted, too.
The Vampire Armand is a disappointed one.

Summary: Not an Immortal
Review: The Vampire Armand was in total a decent book, but it was by far not one of Anne Rices masterpieces. Though she continues weaving fact with her fiction she failed to capture the alluringness that her other vampires share. When reading the novel I was always waiting for the action to pick up but much to my dismay it never did. For loyal Anne Rice fans the novel is a must read though it won't be one they most remember or enjoy. For new readers hoping to tap into the magic that others have discovered they should NOT begin with this book. In the end readers will find themselves thirsting for another book to satisfy their bloodlust.

Summary: Marius? A child molester?
Review: Out of all the characters in the vampire chronicles, Armand was a mystery while Marius, next to Lestat, was one I most loved and admired. This book, while uncovering most of Armand's secrets and hidden past, has somehow made me lose interest in both of these characters. Although it had a few unexpected twists,(one which involves the night that Claudia died) it was mainly weak and without much content. Anne Rice has really done it this time. Not only did she reduce Marius to a mere pedophile, but she turned Armand into(before he was captured by the coven) an ungrateful brat. He (Armand) shows no strength of character or independent thinking whatsoever, only slaving for one master after another. I was also disgusted by the crudity and rawness that was displayed in this book. Maybe it was my misconception of perceiving Marius and Armand purely as father and son. Either way, I did not expect what this book was about to offer.

Summary: Reading this is like being Pooped on by a Flock of Pigeons
Review: This book transcends bad. What can I say, it [was very weak]. The writing is dismal. There is no character development - there is character regression. The once great, engaging, tortured Armand is now a twerp.... And Marius, who used to be ruthless, powerful and subtle, is now a child-molesting Whiner. I remember while reading Interview for the first time some fifteen years ago imagining that I was interviewing Louie, and wondering how I'd react if I were in the presence of Lestat or Louie. Now, I know exactly what I'd do if I were in the presence of Marius and Armand. I'd slap Marius upside the head and make Armand finish the dishes....

Summary: Armand Rocks
Review: Honestly this was the 1st book of 4 that I have read of Anne Rice. To say it was well written would be an under-statement. Due to Rice's extreme attention to detail, I never had to mentally aid or fill in any pieces of Armands elaborate life. She touches basis on many aspects of a young mans experience seeking love and acceptance. It did at some points seem a little 'riske' but given all of the texture of Armands previous life helps the reader to understand that he sought the love of stabilty and not love with men. Ulimately Armand's search for a true identity came in the form of two mortals. They became his alpha and omega; one young and mischeivious and the other old and seemingly stoic. I identified most with Armand because I myself, being 5'6" and 115 lbs, am almost always mis-caculated. This Man-child is an extraordinary character that should not be taken lightly; and after reading TVA, you too will never judge a book by its cover!!!

Summary: Great Book! But...
Review: Again Anne Rice proves her talent. Everything you expect after THL and QOTD. After a short break in Body Thief and Memnoch, Mrs. Rice is back to what we expect out of the chronicles. Altough sometimes tough to get through some of the heated moments between Marius and Armand, it is still a very good read. I suggest reading Pandora before moving on to Armand if you have just finished reading Memnoch and you want to stay in order. I can't wait to move on to Merrick and Blood and Gold after I've finished the Mayfair Witches Trilogy. Give it up to Anne Rice. Damn she's good.

Summary: Rice did it agin!!
