Rating: Summary: Is Anne too happy? Review: I have read everything ever published by Anne Rice. And I must confess that I have loved most of it. To the reviewer who asked if Anne could write a real novel, I must point you to Cry to Heaven or Feast of All Saints. But I am concerned about the last few books. In so many of the books, you were sucked into the story. You cared about the characters; heck, you wanted to BE one of the characters. Haven't we all secretly "cast" our own movie version? In the old days, Anne was dealing with much unhappiness, unsure of herself and her beliefs. Now I'm not so sure that she isn't too happy. The last few - Memnoch, Pandora, Violin - have all seemed to lack something. Anne isn't part of the story anymore; she's just telling the story. Armand was a good book, but it was not a great book. I love Anne, and so I give her this piece of advice (like she really needs it from me): come back to us. We miss you.
Rating: Summary: This book changed my life!!! Review: I have never read such a masterpiece. I can't believe her work on this book. I feel like quitting my job, school, avoiding my family and slitting my wrists on a regular basis. Then I feel like buying all my clothes at the Salvation Army. I will look for a cave and live there for the rest of my new vampire life. Thank you Anne Rice now you have born a new vampire/mass murderer for all to see thanks again! Chris
Rating: Summary: The magic is gone Review: I just finished reading "The Vampire Armand" and I find myself asking the same question I've asked at the end of the last three or four Anne Rice books. That question is, "What has happened to quality of Anne Rice's books." I've read all of her books to date and enjoyed many of her early Vampire novels. However, the most recent ones have just been bad. Sure, they are light reading. You can finish them in about six hours. They all have bright moments. But are they satisfying? No. Perhaps she is turning them out too fast. Whatever the case, "The Vampire Armand" is light years away from "Interview with a Vampire" or "The Witching Hour".
Rating: Summary: She only wrote a few good novels in the early 80's, and 70's Review: Ever since the Tale of the Body Thief, I feel as if the Chronicles have gone down. I thought it was cool for Lestat to be sassy enough to have that power of bisexuality in the Tale of the Body Thief But all in all, I was a fan of the series and it brings back memories now to read this review The part I was always most curious about was how Armand became the leader of the Theatre des Vampires.
Rating: Summary: The downhill slide of the Chronical has finally hit bottom Review: The downhill slide of the Vampire Chronicals has finally hirt rock bottom with The Vampire Armand. Ever since The Vampire Lestat (probably her best) the series has deteriorated and rehashed itself again and again. My patience has finally been exhausted. The Vampire Armand is nearly unreadable.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful new addition to Anne Rice's vampire chronicles. Review: This book gives a wonderfuly detailed description of the life of Armand, from his Russian childhood to his adventures in the glittering modern world. It will leave you spellbound an unable to release it from your mortal grasp. Truly a tale to make you weep for the boy prince.
Rating: Summary: Passion embodied in torment and elation of sweet Amadeo Review: I read the book in the same fashion I've read all the Chronicles, devouring them. Armand is shown in his true strength and passion. He is the true hero that all our favorite vamps are. Read and and want more.
Rating: Summary: I LOVE ANNE RICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: I've just finished Armand, I loved it. I have read 12 out of her 20, and I have never been disappointed in her imaginitive writting, exept that i get so wrapped up in the storyline, that I'm so disappointed when the experince is over.I love the way she combines eroticisim and history with her own imaginative mind.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: I thought that the first few hundred pages of this book really didn't contain any surprises since armand has pretty much told the story of his life to Lestat in the Vampire Lestat. However, the writing is wonderful and the characters are dazzling. By going over the same story line over and over Mrs Rice makes her characters more real. Marius is one of my favorite characters. It is amazing how each of the charaters manages to keep their individuality. However, the part where Armand performs that strange experiment with Claudia disrupts the grace of her death in Interview. I'll just pretend I never read that. The ending was wonderful. In closing, I can't help but mention that I'm eagerly waiting for the day when Mrs rice would write a story about the elusive gabrielle but for now i guess i'll just have to satisfy myself with the tiny portions on her in TVA.
Rating: Summary: Waste your money on other things Review: Well, *I* have read most of Anne's books and Hello, this is a place to write *reviews*, if you haven't read it, who are you to give an opinion? How is what you write here helpful when you didn't even read it yet?Well, my opinion is this: up to the day I almost finished the book I was still worrying about waiting for Anne's future books. Well, after I finished it, I don't care if Anne writes another book or another word. One of my fav characters is Mona and Belinda, so I don't have any problem with the sex. My main problem is who are these characters? Does Anne even know them anymore? I don't want to give spoilers but I didn't even care about the ending where you know what happens.... Anne, my fav books are still The Queen of the Damned and The Witching Hour and it will always will be, thanks for those. But since Memnoch, it has been way disappointing.... I doubt I will read another Anne Rice book....
