Rating: Summary: What is going on Anne??!! Review: Okay I'll start out by saying that Anne's new book is very good in the beginging. But once Armand is turned into a Vampire, it goes into a really weird AREA. first of all he's only sixteen, or seventeen, and he has a forty year old guy making advance to him...and doing him! That was my first complaint. I'm gay and I like her homoerotic prose with her books, but when we start getting into children, well that's a little to "off" for me! Then all those awful things that Armand did to Claudia!! That was awful, read the book, if you want. Gave me the willies. It was like reading about Hitler's crimes. It seems like Anne's trying to shock and all she did was made me cringe. Try something diffrent dear. The first half is great, take out all the child molastation (and that was just what it was) and you've got a great book, after that when Armand is a vampire, it all goes downhill at top speed. What was all that crap about running through the snow with his father, or something like that. Had nothing to do with the story. One minute Maruis is bitting Armand, the next he's running through snow chaseing a horse or his father is caseing a horse, really weird, and nothing to do with the story. Very good was the demented "trick" or "john" (take your pick it's the same eather way)who goes crazy and startes choping up all the "little boy's" in Maruis's "Molastation Camp". Give us some good matrial. We need some new stuff. Was a devoted fan, can't say I won't be after this, but was very disapointed...and a little freaked out.
Rating: Summary: Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you again Anne Rice!!!!!!!!!! Review: She has done it again! Her imagination is our fortune. Thanks for so many years of rich imagery. This book along with all the other Anne Rice novels has provided us with such a delicious banquet of sensuality. After a session of reading I close my eyes and drink in her lush tales. I think that the negative reviews people have given this book stem from their being spoiled by her consistently high level of character building. (The too much chocolate syndrome.) I'm looking forward to her next dessert.
Rating: Summary: Still waiting for the return of the old Anne Rice... Review: What can I say...once again I am left waiting for another Anne Rice vampire series novel that I can really sink my teeth into. The last three novels have been dissappointing to say the least. In all honesty, 'The Vampire Armand' is somewhat more entertaining than 'Memnock the Devil' or Pandora and that is not giving it a lot of credit. I must say the section of the tale pertaining to Armand meeting Marius and how Marius eventually transforms him into a vampire was not bad...it wasn't riveting...just not bad. The rest of the tale was nothing worth remembering. I am a big fan of Anne Rice and I am always look forward to her next novel; however, the last three novels only convinces me to wait on the paperback edition next time.
Rating: Summary: I love this book!! Review: I really enjoyed this book, I did not put it down from the time I bought the book!! I would really insist on buying it. It is the first Ann Rice book I have ever read, and I loved it and plan to read more. Ann Rice seems (to me) to appeal to the younger audiences, I for one am apart of that audience, I would give more stars if I could. my advice get this book!!
Rating: Summary: Nice fluff reading - but then, that is what I expected Review: I have been reading over the other reader comments and I am a bit surprised. For me, reading Anne Rice is a delve into a forbidden sensual world that allows me to escape into something that I will never know in this reality. It is entertainment, a good quick read, an exciting story. I am not looking for anything too deep, and perhaps that is why I wasn't disappointed with this latest effor, "The Vampire Armand." It was exactly what I thought it would be - it tied in elements from the other cronicles (which if you haven't read them, you are really missing a lot of the point of this book), explained the history of the character and why he is what he is and why he has done the things he has, was incredibly sensual and didn't really make me think too hard to learn any great life lessons, but did allow me to go on a wonderful journey for a short time. Lighten up, people! If you are looking for something deep and intricate on the lessons of life, you are reading the wrong author! Anne - thanks again for a wonderful tale.
Rating: Summary: The fight against good and evil Review: I thought the book was great. Armand had many things on his mind such as after he was turned into a vampire was he/ should he be a good creature or a bad one. His debate on this matter makes us as human kind reflect on our actions of the past and makes us see our true nature. After he is stolen from his master he comes across many other questions that he can not answer. He will come to answer these questions when he is wiser. It is an interesting book about truth and religion and it is spiced up by the creatures of night.
Rating: Summary: seductive Review: A wonderful seductive book on how a vampire deals with his spirtuality, you will not be able to put it down!
Rating: Summary: Great Story, Great Sex, Great Research, Great Surprises Review: Andrei, Amadeo, Armand. A Great book for a great character, full of power and full of misterious threads inside his soul. a survivor. a must for every chronicle reader. two thumbs way way up for anne rice
Rating: Summary: Anne Rice Does It Again Review: Rice stays true to her formula, though shows some measure of restraint in spending only the first 23 pages rehashing her previous novels. Not surprisingly, then, rewrites and self-references appear here and there throughout the rest of the book, which is short on plot and long on story. When Armand returns to his parents, there is genuine emotion; but the rest of the writing is cold and distant as the vampire world.
Rating: Summary: Give it up, Anne. You should have quit when you were ahead. Review: I forced myself to read Pandora because I've always read the Vampire Chronicles and especially enjoyed the first two. Even after wishing I'd never read Pandora, I gave this one a try because I remember and had liked Armand. I pushed through 140 pages and quit. I quit the series. It is boring, long-winded with no plot movement whatsoever. Oh, well. Had to end sometime.
