Summary: Armand gets sexier by the page...
Review: I loved this book. Many people told me that it was boring, filled with homosexual/peadophillic refences and the rest, but I was not discouraged!Armand is an enigma throughout the vampire chronicles and this book finally gave him the chance to develop the diabolical and magnetic character he is in another dimension. You don't read read Anne Rice to criticise the homosexual content or the lavish discriptions. Anne has surpassed herself once more.Thank you for an excellent read!

Summary: ehhhhh
Review: If you read the Vampire Chronicles, not a whole lot is gonna keep you frm reading this one, despite the many justifiably bad reviews. I might have liked it a bit more if it was written by someone other than Anne Rice, but it was dissapointing coming from her. I could handle the rampant pedophiliac homosexuality if it had not been so over used. Anne definitely went into to much depth and threw in scenes when they were not needed. Still, that is a small part of the book and really only takes away 1/2-1 star. The real problem is what she did to the very interesting and diabolical character Armand. She turned him into a bore. I would much rather have the old picture of Armand in my mind because the mystery and awe has been replaced with a petty and unreconcilable past. Anne doesn't bring the influences of his life together in any intelligible way. None of the most interesting parts of his life are in the book. She skips the 300 years in the Paris Coven, and doesn't even touch on him throwing Lestat off the friggin tower, so we'll never hear from him on that one. It's terribly dissapointing that though the book is 380 pages, she doesn't find the time to include hardly anything about his life as a vampire, that isn't a rehashing of other books that is. You will not leave this book with a cool picture of who the little devil really is. Unless you are an avid Armand fan, and thus biased because you'll love anything about him, you'll prefer him the way he was. The book does have some interesting parts in it but its mostly a recycled plot. I liked Armands story in TVL a helluva lot better. The story is weak.

Summary: okay, but it took me a long time to finish
Review: when my friends told me that anne rice's books are great. so i bought the vampire armand. but i was a fool. it took me four months to finish it from the time i bought it. the start wasn't much thrilling. but the middle part was okay because it tells the stories of past vampire chronicles. but would i recommend it? i would say read the first five first before reading this because i had a hard time understanding this book.

Summary: Vampire Armond: Bi it now ;)
Review: You remember Armond from the movie of Interview.. and the sexy guy that played him stayed in my mind when I read the book. Some have objected to the homosexual encounters in The Vampire Armond.. but bi the way, people, Armond was presented as bi.. I enjoyed the eroticism and the lush and sensual descriptions throughout.. it is about time someone wrote a bestseller for bi's.. Sure, everyone misses Lestat, but he does get a part in this book.. I would love to see a movie made of this one, with its opulent settings.. It is a good read, maybe not for the straightlaced.. but you don't read Anne Rice for plain vanilla, now do you? ;)

Summary: An Okay Book, But a bomber from Anne Rice
Review: Anne Rice usually writes good books in the Vampire Chronicles, but she's bombed miserably in this, the newest edition to the Chronicles. I thought that this book would be as good as its predecessors, and unfortunately, it wasn't. I was expecting something as good as "Queen of the Damned" or any of the other 5 chronicles that Anne's already released, but I was let down miserably by her this time. There were only 2 good things aobut this book. The first thing was, was that Armand hadn't died, like I thought that he did in "Memnoch the Devil", & I was glad to know that. The second thing was that the book did to some extent hold your attention, even though it got rather redundant & boring after a while. Anne needs to work on either redoing this one, or in the next vampire chronicle that she does, doing a better job of narrating the whole thing. Anne's a better writer than this actually shows, and I wish that she had shown her great writng ability in this one, but she didn't. Very disappointing, Anne!

Summary: Madame Rice, you could've done better...
Review: What I've always HATED about Madame Rice's stories is her tiresome, unending descriptions, and in this novel they come GALORE!!! Gimmie the bottomline!!! Don't take me wrong. I consider myself Ms. Rice's No. 1 fan all over México. "Armand" is sort of a strange ride. It can be at times either amazingly beautiful and tender or confusingly boring and cruel. It's got a couple of good surprises, though. Even so, the ending is somewhat hollow. Definitely not one of her best. Her first two vampiric installments were great, Memnoch was absolutely amazing, but the others...well. Just for die-hard fans. (Don't miss reading "Violin," her best book EVER!!!

Summary: captured my imagination
Review: I thought the book was very well done. Many people were not happy with the homosexual content, but there are many points in Rice's books that are suggestive of homosexuality and pediophile. She gave us some ideas about the relationship between Marius and Armand in earlier books, so there should be little surprise concerning their sexual exchanges. It may be a bit uncomfortable (and sad) to think about, but having a slave as a sexual pet was very much a way of life at that point in history. And the sex is really not that explicit. I did like the fact that she made the relationship between the two very beautiful and devoted. I could almost understand (if not condone) how a young man and an older man can have such love. I was totally captivated by their relationship. It was reminiscent of the Claudia/Louis love. I did however keep things in perspective. One must remember that it is, after all, a fantasy. None of us really want some undead person, no matter how beautiful and philosophical, hanging around our house. Just as I don't think men should be seducing young boys. I must add that I especially like how these vampires just absolutly adore each other one minute and are positively put out the next. I believe that is how Rice is trying to show us that they are so different in each other's eyes. For example, my side of an argument is not the same as the person I was arguing with. I rate books on how easily I get drawn in and forget the time. This one was a "Oh! has it been two hours already! Looks like Micky D's for dinner, again."

Summary: It was about time she gave us detail about Armand's past.
Review: I absolutely loved this book. I love Armand's character through out the vampire series. It gave me a history for the character that has not been developed since Interview with a Vampire and Queen of the Damned. The disappointing part of the book is all the reference to Lestat! I am tired of hearing about Lestat in every novel. I also did not like the way she brought in new vampires I do not think they can break off into their own books. Besides that I think the book was excellent! Thanks!

Summary: Absolutely nowhere to go but down from this pintacle!
Review: Rice has finally outdone herself. If she writes no more I will be forever satisfied. The Vampire Armand is the book that makes staying home alone on New Year's Eve of 2000 worth the millenium! Read it as slowly as possible.

Summary: She's had better!!!!
Review: I've read all her Vampire books and a lot of other peoples, too. I thought this one was one of the worst vampire books I've read. I like Vampires because there is the sensualism to them that only they can have, but the constant sex between him and the other males was disgusting. I didn't even want to finish the book. And when Armand just walks into the sun left me confused. She can do better.
