Rating: Summary: A Waste Of Paper Review: I am a fan of Ms. Rice's books but this series should have ended three books ago. This novel, along with "Pandora", is a chore to read. Don't waste you're money as I did.
Rating: Summary: Wounderful Review: If you liked the character in the previos novels you will love this book. His life unfolds befor you. From slayery to Godhood to a demon and finaly to the vampire we all love. One of the most well written books to date.
Rating: Summary: GREAT!! Review: Actually , I haven't read Anne Rice's work before. Only watched "INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE" on the film long long time ago and I really love it. This one, The Vampire Armand , is the first for me. It touched my heart and made me want to find her old works in The Vampire Cronicles. If you love The Vampire Stories , you must read this one!!
Rating: Summary: So, what's new? Review: Anne Rice only wrote one good book: Interview with the Vampire. All the rest is a re-hash of the same story. Why are people disappointed with "Armand"? Rice's vampire books lost originality and turn into a soap opera right away with "The Vampire Lestat". At least, she has been doig more research lately, trying to create a background of culture on what would otherwise be pulp fiction.I have discover the way to endure Anne Rice: audio books. I no longer have the patience to rea her books. They get way too boring on those long pseudo-philosophical sections. At least, if someone reads it aloud for me, it keeps me awake.
Rating: Summary: Great imagery, bad plot. Review: I personally found this book to be scraping the bottom of the vampire barrel, there was nearly no plot, and it left me so confused at times that I just wanted to rip it from it's bindings. I really liked Armand, but this really spoiled the whole picture. If you like your vampires the way they are, leave this book lay.
Rating: Summary: Same old drivel Review: All the Vampire Armand is is homoerotica. She should have published it under her pen name Rocquelaire. Not that there is anything wrong with homoerotica but what has happened to Anne Rice's character development and pacing? Let's all read Interview with the Vampire and The Witching Hour again to reminisce about the previous brilliant work of a master.
Rating: Summary: love it! Review: Who cares if this is a good or a bad book? I love it! And that makes it good for me. I'm a long time A. Rice fan, and Armand always has been my favourite. I want some more!
Rating: Summary: Rice's latest toe-hold down the slippery slope of mediocrity Review: Only the most die-hard fans of Anne Rice will manage to find something to enjoy about the latest installment in her ever-weakening Vampire franchise. Unlike V. C. Andrews, whose prolific mediocrity may be forgiven due to the fact she's been dead over a decade, Rice's talent seems more and more diluted with each new publishing venture. _The Vampire Armand_ is not without redeeming qualities, such as scrupulous research and a few nicely perverse contrivances, but the historical verisimilitude is compromised by clumsy pop-cultural references. Rice demonstrates she still has the powerful vision that made her such a cult favorite twenty years ago, but she seems to lack the energy to follow through on her richly-detailed imagery. Overall, I found this novel to be a weak rehash of the previous Vampire Chronicles, which are reiterated here in great, artless chunks lacking sufficient revision to make them interesting the second (even third) time around. There's not much to reward the faithful reader, and even less to draw new readers into the series. Rice is truly becoming the Judith Krantz of horror literature.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful, haunting Review: I enjoyed the book. It explored the life of what I consider tobe her most sensual and sexual vampire in a way that was enjoyable toread. It marked the point in her career where she is returning to the decadence and near perfection of her earliest works. I was not bothered at all by the relationship between Marius and Armand as a child, because, frankly, love does not strike strictly in your own age group. It added a sort of reality, to me. While the book gave me a release from what is my daily life, it also showed bluntly what is, was, and always has been the reality of the world. I thought that it was one of Anne Rice's best books. Bravo, and I hope that this is the standard she continues to live up to!
Rating: Summary: Loved it Review: I love how Armand's chocolatey rice bits make the milk chocolate too. They're part of a balanced breakfast.
